So a small interview of Kathy Reichs, Medical legal anthropologist, who created the character of Temperance (by Christelle Laffin).

As usual I hope that my translation is faithful and understandable.

How was conceived the character of Bones?
Kathy Reichs : It is a mixture of the heroine of my books and myself. When the rights of my first novel "Déjà dead" of which she is the heroine, appeared in 1997, were repurchased for the TV, I did not want to see a literal adaptation of it. I analyzed my first skeleton in Smithsonian Institution of Washington, Jeffersonian, where works Bones, is his fictitious equivalent. The heroine of the novel, sophisticated and older, looks like me more.

Kathy Reichs : Just for the age. The channel wanted that it is a small genius of 20 years, to attract a younger public. Just like I am intransigent on the exactitude of the scientific analyses which one sees with the screen, I insisted that Bones is at least thirty year. Between her university pedigree and its stays of study in Guatemala and in Rwanda, she could not be credible unless 30 years.

The heroines of police and scientific series are confronted with more and more bloody crimes, equally with men. Is it realistic?
Kathy Reichs : I made analyses on mass graves. It is not a question of sex, but temperament. Women can master the sight of the blood and the corpses, other steps. Just like men!

Bones is brilliant, feminine without being seductive (in pejorative sens). Do you think that she can inspire the women?
Kathy Reichs : I hope for it, especially because she has a damn good character and assumes such as she is. Beautiful, without putting on her low cut ahead. Contrary to the other series, one will not see her with tights and high heels on the place of a crime! She seduces by her personality and intelligence, passion for her trade. For all that, she is far from being perfect. She is not very bright for human relations. She speaks too fast sometimes. The fact which she does not possess a TV, that she is completely disconnected from the pop culture, makes her unique and funny.

Which impression does it make see herself in the screen?
Kathy Reichs : Sessions photos with Emily Deschanel were a shock for my ego. She measures 50 centimetre more than me and is 50 years old less (laughter)! She is perfect in the role, works like insane, reads scientific works, often questions me. Our admiration is mutual.

Which is women's proportion, on the 65 legal anthropologists recognized in the United States?
Kathy Reichs : About one for three men. And in the field of the legal scientists, it is a lot ! My mother was fascinated by sciences, and one encouraged me to pursue my studies in this domain. But it is not the case of the majority of the girls, that one does not regrettably push still enough towards exact sciences.

Did the series already wake up vocations?
Kathy Reichs : There is not one day without a student asks me, by way of my Web site, how to become a legal anthropologist. The episode with Josh Hopkins in it is amazing! He's had a relationship with two of my favorite tv characters. I wonder how many more he'll get around to.

SHPADOINKLE
An undefined word created by Trey Parker while writing the title song for his student film "Cannibal! The Musical" (It was meant to be only temporary until he thought of an appropriate adjective but it ended up sticking). Can be used in replacement of any adjective or in the expletive.

Examples:

"That's a shpadoinkle car!" (lol)

"Oh shpadoinkle! I have a paper due today!"

There are an infinate number of shpadoinkle examples for this word.

According to her bio on IMDB Emily is 5' 9 (1.75 m). Do you really mean 50cm? That's nearly 2 feet.

Hehe, yeah, fitting for Valentine's Day this episode. But thankfully they didn't turn it into some romantic mud. The talk and commentaries of the characters were so good and funny. Loved that they did it with some humour. ;D

The sad news: We'll have to wait a month before getting the next episode on March 14th.

However, I am excited for season 3!!

"Testosterone spill on aisle four" pretty much sums up the episode for me.

I really liked last night's episode. It was hilarious as usual; I especially liked the scene in which Tempe and Sully are having a mini-fight and Booth is sitting there with a small, satisfied grin on his face.




Some quotes I liked (in no particular order):
~ Booth: "Bones, don't try the psychological stuff. It's not a pretty sight."
