I wasn't at all impressed with Bones this past season. I still watched, and enjoyed the cases and the humor. But everything just seemed way out there. The characters were messed up, Booth and Brennan seemed to be doing a The Nanny sort of sexual tension thing--like they were always about to kiss but not--which I really don't find dignified for this kinda show. The season finale was dumb, about as dumb as they get. It's not gonna make me quit watching the show, but it DOES make me stop taking it seriously. I mean, they got such awesome characters. WHY are they messing them up giving them such ridiculous storylines? Everything's so farfetched.
Hope they do better next year.

Season 4 2-hour premiere is tommorow at 8PM on FOX
I might check it out, but I'm not totally in love with "Bones" anymore after that frakking writing "jump the shark" stunt last season. My interest in it has diminished. I still love David Boreanaz though, but even him being in it can't make me stick around.

No comments on last week's double episode? I managed not to either  It was a good fun season opener. It's always interesting to see how the American's see us Brits. We're all quite posh apparently  I didn't like the Hodgins/Angela break up, it felt too contrived, too forced, an excuse to create a bit of tension in the future. It was as though they had to break them up or else the show is over for them. Are we to get the whole dance again? I was a little disappointed we've lost the temp-squint Clark. He as an interesting contrast to the rest of them, focused on the job and not involved in the personal stuff. I did think they laid on the whole Bones/Booth "will they, won't they" a bit thick. And so many sex references. Which brings me to this week... Can't say I was so keen on the story this week. An interesting idea, and it kept me mis-guessing throughout, but I just didn't gel with it so much. Again we get the Bones/Booth "will they, won't they" stuff. Did they discuss sex so much last season? Last week's was thick with it. I see Cold Case's Ray (Brennan Elliott) made a guest appearance. He really is going through our favourite leading ladies  Who's next? Brenda from The Closer, Grace from Saving Grace, Patty from Damages, Cameron from Terminator: The the one who's name we shall not say Connor Chronicles? ;D |

Well, yeah, now we know where Ray went And he's not the first, so to speak, to be seen on Bones and Cold Case. Anyway. I enjoyed both episodes, the 2 part season opener as well as this one. Though I can understand, why some see Bones jump the shark by now. They're pushing limits with this comedy and sex talk stuff. As hilarious as it is (nearly spit my coffee on the keyboard serveral times watching 4x3), it's close to getting annoying now. And for some it's already beyond. I truelly hope we'll get something different in the next episodes. The case in this ep fitted quite well to the personal stuff, more than past weeks cases. Found the cases in the season opener too weak. But I'm watching Bones less to watch cases. Didn't expect the break-up this soon, but soon. You can't really keep a couple on TV that happy for a long time. Okay, doesn't had to be a break-up already, but it fits especially to Angela's character, a clear cut for the time being. I'm sure that's not it, but, as someone put it on another board, it had been more of a physical relationship lately, it's now time they discover each other again as persons. |

I have to say Season 3 and most of Season 4 have made my soul die a little. What has happened to this show? It's like Season 3 of The O.C. again when the J. Shwartz left the scripts up to the plebs and it all fell in a whole - character development, character involvement and the tiny nuances that can build a show up to cult status (Mulder and Scully, anyone? - and btw Ruda I love love love your sig pic. Nice.). What the heck has happened to Temperance? She's like a shell of a woman who can't have a scene without Booth - who is getting too smarmy, arrogant and know-it-all for me to be able to stomach him any more (although I'm not a fan of DB anyway.) What's happened to the Brennan/Angela scenes that were so freaking awesome throughout the first season? However I do have to say episode 9 was a bit better...

I do wish Brennan had gotten horizontal with the other Booth though... That would have opened up a nice can of worms. Action creates clarity - please, writers, don't just make them talk the talk - freaking make the characters do something! Comfort zones are not the place for tv legends.

Apperently Bones and Booth are hooking up. I dunno whether this is a good idea or not. I really hope the show doesn't go down the toilet. I'm gonna spaz it otherwise coz a lot of shows I watch are really going to the sh1tter.

Thing is, a lot of people want them to hook up, and I'm not saying I don't because I definitely like the idea, but I'm not actually sure I'd like it if it did happen. I think, honestly, that what makes the show great is that there's a kind of tension but nothing more, like they're great as partners and nothing more. I really hope that made sense...

Angela is barely in it, Bones has gone backwards in character development and can we please see Zach again! Oh, and talk about continuity in the last episode; Sweets was there, then he wasn't. Cam was there, then she wasn't. What the hey?
Hoping it will get better next season - I'm definitely done with this season.

Oh, I'm really enjoying this season! Especially the circus one. Although I do wish we could have Zach back, not necessarily in every episode but at least occasionally.

I very much enjoyed it, though lately it's sometimes a tad too much comedy stuff in the show. Nevertheless, as longtime science-fiction and fantasy geek I sure had some fun with this episode.  |

"Bones" has gone to the dogs just like "House". *sigh* FOX manages to ruin almost all of it shows later on, seems to be happening after Season 2(for both "Bones" and "House"). If they don't ruin their shows, they make the decision to cancel good shows way before their time. I've quit watching "Bones". Season 3 and 4 are nothing compared to Season 1 and 2. Dr. Brennan has become so dependant on Booth and I hate that >.<! The reason this show became my instant favorite in the early seasons was because of this independant, strong, brilliant woman. Now, she's nothing but a "dumb blonde"(so to speak) and b*tchy. Don't even get me started on Agent Parotta(the blonde FBI agent). "Bones" definitely went to the sh1tter when they "killed"(not really) off Zack as a regular. *sigh* I miss those funny Zack/Jack experiments. I miss Brennan/Angela friendship moments(Season 1, episode 19, skull in the desert, best episode that exemplifies the relationship). Don't get me wrong, I was a B/B shipper from the beginning of the show, but now the writers seems to just be focusing on B/B and not on developing the characters further or show those moments that we all love. Just being "B/B" does not make the show work. It only makes the show seem like another sappy cheesy soap opera(well soap operas are horrible anyway!) Some harsh criticism coming from me, but "Bones"...ugggh Kill this show already! I used to love "Bones" so much too...*points at sn* cold BONESlove. [/rant]  |
