I used to watch this show all the time, but when Anthony Edwards left, it just wasn't the same. I've seen some of the episodes this season, and I must say that the one last week, with the baby's was incredible, it was what I remember the old ER to be.

I'm sickeningly addicted to this show, despite its suckage in the recent seasons. Agreed that the NICU episode was very well-done. Both Maura and Parminder did an excellent job!

As a matter of fact, I did! It could not compare to the previous one. Not enough medicine, too much Pratt, and too many close-ups of Noah Wyle's beard. I so totally plan to tune in next week.

Oh god, the beard, don't even get me started. I heard theres a seperate website dedicated to Noah Wyle's beard. I get that they're trying to say "Look, he was in the Congo, he's un-kept, un-shaven, grundgy, blah blah blah," but he's been back for a while now, and there comes a time... where the beard just needs to GO! He's so cute, and he looks horrible with it.. ok, I'm don't ranting about hair.
Anyway, yeah, I agree this episode (from what I saw) couldn't really compare with the NICU episode, and I'm a little sick of Pratt and his HORRIBLE days. Do you notice how Pratt always has a horrible day. What made this one any different from the past ones?

I think Noah's beard is gone by next week. Now I just have to plot to get rid of Maura's new bangs ... CC Fan, you've got a good point. I don't recall Pratt every having a good day. There was another episode earlier this season that was devoted to another bad day of his. How do you feel about that Sam/Luka kiss at the end? Eurache, the daddy is Chuck, the flight nurse Susan married in Vegas and then divorced and then continued bonking in the handicapped bathroom.

Sam Luka kiss.... I actually kind of thought it was cute. It'd be nice to have a relationship on this show that lasts. I just can't stand her son.

I don't think anybody can stand Sam's son.
I thought the kiss was a bit too out of nowhere. In the beginning of the episode, we have Sam sniping at Luka, and then she learns from Abby that he's "a good guy, really" and then WHAM! they're kissing.
I hope the writers develop this a little better than they've done so far.

Yeah, it was pretty much out of no where, but oh well, as long as it lasts I'm happy. I just don't wanna go down the same road we did with Carter and Abby. That relationship stunk. They had like 3 years of build up, all the sexual tension, they FINALLY get together, and they fight and fight and fight all the time. {edited word in post}

Carter and Abby were pure torture for themselves and for the viewers.
Actually, Carter seems to have been lobotomized since he got stabbed. I'm watching the Season 1 DVDs now and he's so sweet back then ...
I'm just waiting to see how this Carter/Kem thing will end, since Thandie Newton probably has bigger fish to fry than ER.

Yeah, I mean, I think Carby could've worked, IMHO Maura Tierney and Noah Wyle have a lot of chemistry, but it just didn't work at all. I hate Kem. I just hate her. I think her and Noah Wyle have absolutley NO chemistry. I really liked Anna and Carter, do you remember her?

Yeah, I liked Anna too. Too bad she left the show ...
I find Kem totally annoying. All that hugging, kissing, touching in last week's episode didn't work because, as you said it, their chemistry was limited.
I thought Carby had better chemistry as friends than as lovers. I loved their banter in Season 7 and how Abby was Carter's sponsor and everything.
Oh, check out TV guide this week. Linda, Parminder and Maura are on the cover. The title of the article seems pretty offensive to the other ER actresses though.

I agree, Carter and Abby had more chemistry as friends, but god, Kem, shes just so annoying and when I saw the commercial for next week wheres shes at the airport leaving, I was so excited. I hope she never comes back.

Hee, enjoy the TV guide article!
Totally agree about Kem. Even in the first episode she appeared in, she did/said something that irritated me, something that goes along the lines of "saving just one life isn't enough!" (she was yelling at Carter for messing up her big plan or whatever)
Secondly, was it just me or did she look jealous when Carter came back to county and everyone hugged him? Did she expect him to have nobody there who was glad to see him back?
Thirdly: everything in last weeks episode. She was just anoying. She's a health care professional, doesn't she know better than to bother the doctors all day? Hanging onto their shirttails and then inviting the entire apartment building to come to the ER?
I haven't yet seen the promo for this week, but the Beard is gone as is Kem. That's 2 points better than last week's ep already.

yes totally agree with everything you said. I read the article, very cute, but it bothered me that they were basically saying this show is nothing but thanks to those three people, it is. Personally, I think the show we would be doing fine without Abby, it did for 6 years, and the other two only recently came on, and the show had done well without them for 9 years. Out of all of them, Maura Tierney seems like the most down to earth. I don't know, I personally think the show should've ended when Mark left, because honestly, he was just an amazing character. Eh, I dunno, I still totally love this show and think it's amazing but when I look at episodes from the earlier seasons, like season 1's Love Labor's Lost, and I look at the most recent episodes, it's just not what it used to be. Before, they didn't have to have out of this world crazy patients, or women who get set on fire, they were just simple patients, but there was this amazing chemistry between all the actors and the.. ah! It was just amazing, I don't even know how to put it. Anyway, unless something amazing happens and this show goes back to its old days, I have a feeling it won't be on the air much longer.

The show is signed on until Season 12 I think ... I really do think that the show should have ended when Mark died. He was supposed to be "the moral center of the ER" from the beginning, and after he died, none of the other doctors seemed to be able to take his place. They're trying to make Carter into the new Mark (hence the speech to Pratt last week) but it isn't working, because most people are pretty sick of Carter as well. As for Abby, she was ok in the Seasons 6 and 7, but then they did the bipolar thing to hell and she got unbearable. The thing that annoyed me about the TV guide article is that it seemed very insulting to the other actresses on the show, especially the ones that have been there since the earlier seasons (e.g. Sherry Stringfield, Laura Innes, etc.) with the whole the new ER is prettier than before comment! The show has completely lost track of the medical aspect and is getting more soap operish by the week. Tomorrow, we have a tank running wild through the streets of Chicago. It's getting too unbelievable, and like you said, I prefer the OldSchool patients who had realistic problems at least.

Ugh! I know, the whole tank thing! I get that's it feb. sweeps, but common!!! I don't buy it for a second. These are cheap stunts to try and pull in some more viewers and honestly, it's just pushing them away. If I weren't a fan, and had never seen the show, and I had just seen that commercial, I'd probably be laughing my ass of right now. As far as I'm concerned, there are only 3 characters left that are worth watching for: Kerry Weaver Susan Lewis and Robert Ramano but he's gone, and that was just so messed up (its another story if you want me to tell later). His character was probably the most interesting of all of them.

Well, you're in luck then, because Weaver has a really big storyline coming up soon!!!
It wasn't such a bad episode; I'm learning to like Sam more now, after tonight. Kem and Carter are still annoying. I was quite disappointed that he didn't end up flying back to the Congo with her.

oooh well thats good news for weaver then. Tonights episode was good, I'd say about a 6 or 7. Kem is so annoying, I think out of all the characters on television, she is the most annoying. And I can't figure out why I hate her so much. It's not that I'm all protevtive of Carby, I just cannot stand her. And Carter's a dumb butt for paying 9000 dollars just to say goodbye again. bleh! {edited word in post}
