A further thing is that when you quote someone else's message by clicking the quote button you get presented with a version with extra stuff at the beginning so it looks like this:

What that does is add extra info to the start to show who the message was by, the date it was posted, and provides a link back to their message. So if I quote your message it looks like this:

The 1st has just the "Quote:" bit at the beginning. The 2nd has information about the person that wrote the bit being quoted and when the message was written. It makes it easier for people to know who you are responding too.

Hey lolygirlyy

You have to host the image at a hosting site such as photobucket or imageshack. Then, copy and paste the URL into your profile where it says AVATAR URL. Make sure you change your AVATAR selection to "NONE" from the drop down menu. For AVATAR WIDTH and HEIGHT put 100 (for each). Let me know if you have any problems.

They would be codes for smilies that no longer work.

When the webpage is created by the server and sent to your browser those codes would be replaced by graphics like the various smilies above:

etc. The server has probably been changed so it no longer recognizes those codes as anything special, so they just get left like that.

You don't manage to host your sig?
For ImageShack, you have to upload your banner by pressing a button parcourir,don't resize image and press host it. Then,you make a copy-and-paste by using the hotlink for forums (1) or (2) in your profile, in the box called signature.
