I've been watching Season Seven again. Watching all the episodes in order in a short space of time made me see that Season Seven was full of reoccurring themes.
1. Abandonment
This was a biggie. A lot of the doers killed to avoid abandonment
Grace killed Darcy so she wouldn't abandon her with her new love Cal killed Nash so he wouldn't abandon him with his new contract Chandra killed Billy so he wouldn't abandon her Alice killed Donalyn so Meesha wouldn't abandon her Darren killed Luke so he wouldn't abandon him and the forensics team Victoria killed Mike so he wouldn't abandon her Lance killed Mick so he wouldn't abandon the wrestling team
2. Young people with talent
So many cases of young people with an extraordinary talent being murdered. Actually, it seems like an awful lot of victims were teenagers.
Nash was a talented skateboarder Billy was a talented musician Donalyn was a talented rapper Luke was a talented debater Tommy was a talented ice hockey player Carlos was a talented graffiti artist Mia was a talented acrobat Mick (although not as young) was a talented wrestler
It wasn't just that they were good, a lot of the characters emphasized how the victims excelled at their field.
3. Drugs
This one wasn't as obvious, but it seems that almost every episode involved drugs in some way. Either someone was an addict, or they were a dealer.
In the final two episodes we get Lilly abandoning Chris (and remembering Paul's abandonment of them both), then Lilly saving a drug addicted Chris.
