Alright, so last night I'm working on a Cold Case fanfic when I get to the dreaded part of naming Lilly's second cat. Obviously I can't name it Tripod, because that was a nick name. I didn't want to give it some name like "Fluffy" or "Cat", so I started wondering about the name of her other cat, Olivia.
I thought, 'Who would name their cat Olivia? That's kind of a weird name for a cat...' and then it hit me.
Could it be possible that Lilly named one of her cats Olivia after Olivia Benson of Law and Order: SVU fame? If that were the case it would be one heck of an Easter egg.
Someone tell me they noticed this before.

Not sure... but the strangest thing to me is why they never addressed the deaths of Lily's cats on the show. From what I read, Tripod passed away during the show, yet this cat who served's as Lily's anchor didn't get any kind of notice.

Guess the show just conveniently forgot about it.

Funny you ask this question. I asked about Lilly's cats on the IMDB boards because I needed to know their names.
I think Olivia is the orange cat?
Tripod is the white cat?
Did we ever find out what Tripod's real name was? Do we assume we both were girls?
EDIT: The writers seem to forget too many things.

Yeah, Olivia would have been the orange cat.
Personally, I'm theorizing that white cat could have been named Eliot, or named after some other television show detective; they just never said it, because then it would have been way too obvious.

I’ve seen fanfiction where people have Lilly refer to the second cat as Tripod and I always think it’s weird. I don’t know what the cat’s actual name could be, but that so obviously isn’t it; there’s no way Lilly, who appears quite defensive of her cat’s disabilities, would give it such a harsh name. I’ll accept anything other than Tripod as the cat’s name.
As for why the cat’s death wasn’t mentioned in the series, I’m guessing the writers didn’t so much forget about it, as decide it wasn’t important. Just because the real cat died doesn’t mean Lilly’s did, and as long as it didn’t have to appear in the series again, they probably felt it wasn’t relevant. It could make a good fanfic though, Lilly dealing with the death of her cat.
