I absolutely refuse to take Physics. so . I only need three years of a science class to graduate, nowhere does it say that I am required to take Physics. So I am taking Anatomy and Physiology.
HA. Take THAT, Physics.

HAHA I don't even get why you are taking precalc. Or do you need it? Not for my major, but as I've stated before, I'm going to Hunter College, which is a public LIBERAL ARTS institution. I only applied to two liberal arts colleges: Hunter and Gettysburg. I got into both. Gettysburg is the more competitive one to get into. It's almost as good as Amherst on the "Best Liberal Arts College" rankings. Anyways...let me explain how a Liberal Arts College is different from a regular public and private institution. The bottom-line of a Liberal Arts college is to offer you a well-rounded education as opposed to regular public and private institutions where you just take credits towards your major. You're probably thinking to yourself, "That's a waste of time and money." But, it's not really. Most employers LIKE students coming from a Liberal Arts college because we were better prepared for real-life situations with our broad base of knowledge than just knowledge specializing in one specific area. Here's how the credit pie chart at Hunter is broken down in order for you to graduate on time: Credits towards your major = 50% GERs(General Elective Reqs) = 40% Other electives/classes that do not fullfill your GERs/major = 10% -------------------------- Now, for my GERs: Stage 1: Academic Foundations A. English Composition - If I pass my Expository Writing class, then I will have completed one of my GER classes. B. Quantitative Reasoning - If I pass Pre-Calc, I'll get a credit towards my GERs. C. US History - Darn Hunter!! I needed a 5 on APUSH to get an exemption, but I only got a 4. I'll be taking a US History course in the Spring semester, hopefully. I couldn't fit it into this semester because I wanted to get all my intro classes for my major done. Stage 2: Broad Exposure A. Survey of Lit written in English B. Social Science - People and their Societies C. Humanities D. Visual and Performing Arts: Media, Art, Dance, Film, Music, Theater - That one will definitely be well satisfied after my Freshmen year ;D E. Natural Science : ugggh not science again!!! >.< Stage 3: Focused Exposure A. Humanities or Visual and Performing Arts B. Social Sciences or Natural Sciences/Mathematics - F*CK SCIENCE AND MATH!!! Social Studies FTW ;D

coldbones, I go to a liberal arts college too (there are public / private , though, that's a totally separate thing). I like it so much better than what a lot of my friends are doing, because I don't feel like I'm ever wasting any of my time on general education requirements that I don't want, because they're all relevant. I was lucky enough to have a math exemption, though, I really didn't want to have to do math anymore. What is your major, coldbones? I know this semester I'm taking management communication, leadership, identity and modern life, american lit, and an honors class for my honors program. Will keep busy I'm sure!!

I was lucky enough to have a math exemption, though, I really didn't want to have to do math anymore. What is your major, coldbones? Nobody has a major yet. We're all freshmen so our major is pretty much "undeclared" right now. You can only declare a major once you have 45 credits and pass the CUNY proficiency exam, which you get 3 tries at. I don't know if you have to do this at other colleges since I've never heard of anyone going through this process o.O. It might just be a CUNY(city universities of New York) thing. My major will be film/media. That's what I want to get my B.A. in. It's basically what I want to do with communications. The ultimate goal would of course be video-editing in the film/tv industry. But, if I can't find work in that area, I can probably supplement my income after college in layout designing for newspapers or for online news, both of which, I have a little experience in. I did have an internship at Newsday for three years before switching over to work in broadcast journalism for MSG Varsity, which I was very interested in and finally had this opportunity to learn more about what I love to do which is video-editing. I think once I succeed in video-editing and make connections in the work place, then I would love to write for a tv show, or if possible, create my own. I sort of have an idea about what I would like to write drawing from my own life experiences. It would definitely be a mix between "Gilmore Girls" and "One Tree Hill" with the whole mother-daughter relationship and of course, an underlying sports theme . I did want to double major with business and film, but my friend who's in her 2nd year of college majoring in expeditionary studies, says that's easy since she does expeditionary studies & business at Plattsburgh. But, Idk....I am finding it hard to double major right now with business and film when I really want to get most of my film production classes in so I would be able to have an internship at ESPN or MTV during or after my 2nd year of college...something major. I do hope to work with ESPN someday.

I'll say I knew you when, cbl! Ahaha. was that sentence suppose to read, "I'll say I knew you when you were cbl?" lol I doubt that anyone would know me....I'm not getting famous. I'm the behind-the-scenes type of person. Video-editing is post-production work. And writing, I'm not saying that's a definite alternative path after I'm established in video-editing. I'm just saying that I would like to write my own tv show one day, but who knows how I'll feel about that 20 years from now? What is definite is my love for video-editing.

But, I suppose that's one way to do it! My school has a rather large film department, and I have to say there's probably no better time to be studying this. There's just so many opportunities to create your own material that you don't necessarily have to wait too long before a project comes along. May not be the big Hollywood blockbusters or silver screen gems all the time, but constant work is never bad! Going a couple semesters before you see about a double major is always a good idea, I did the same thing, actually. It gives you time to see if you want the extra stress on your schedule, if you'll have time, if you really want to go through two programs, etc.

It gives you time to see if you want the extra stress on your schedule, if you'll have time, if you really want to go through two programs, etc. If I may ask, what university are you attending, TruBlu? I think I'm probably going to stay at Hunter during all 4 years of my college career unless I get some sort of big scholarship deal from NYU. Otherwise, my parents really can't afford for me to go to NYU and I don't really want to take out loans on like a $50,000 a year for undergrad studies since my major's average starting income is like only $35,000 ...crappy pay, but if I can find work all the time and if I'm as good as other video-editors out there, I can make a living and eventually make $100k a year. Hunter basically almost gave me like a full ride. All I have to do is pay for the books for my classes and the $400 for a semester's tuition. Regular tuition is $2,500 a semester, which would be $5,0000+ for the entire school year. $800 for the entire school year for my education is not bad at all.

Haha, no, it wasn't, cbl. I don't know how to explain it, maybe it's a Chicago thing. Basically, when you're off doing cool and big things, I'll say I knew you when! (When refferring to now.) Hahaha
