If Scotty did have the man killed, that would make him less sympathetic than the woman in Blackout (her mother was threatening to rape her son, and it was spur of the moment) and the man in Revenge (he thought the man raped AND killed his son). I would rather a heroic death than an arrest- and considering how many people they've sent to jail, poor Scotty would not have fun in jail "Hey, didn't you arrest me?" Plus, many of the cold case doers didn't view their victims as "innocent" either. Yep. The doers in A Time to Hate and Forever Blue thought they were doing the right thing in getting rid of those "unnatural" victims, and so did a lot of the racist killers. Not saying Scotty is like them at all, just that "they deserved it" isn't a good excuse. The fact that the guy is in jail anyway and Scotty has to plan it makes it much worse.

According to the side I read... Scotty more or less suggests to an inmate whom he grew up with that the guy should die. And sure enough, he ends up dead at the end. No proof yet it ws th einmate Scotty talked to or if word just got out he was a rapist and someone decided to off him. The closest parallel I have is Det Flack from CSI NY. The guy who had killed his girlfriend has surrendered and was on the ground with Flack standing over him. Flack had enough time to consider whether or not to pull the trigger. In the end, he executes the man in cold blood. You can see that it takes a toll on him and he almost confesses but the CSI in charge Mac stops him. If they have a season 8, (and let's all keep our fingers crossed) I could see something similar happening. I don't think Scotty would leave the show.. but it would be intresting to see how they do it in comparsion to CSI NY's ongoing handling of Flack.
