1983 and it's dealing with taggers/graffiti....so I'm thinking some old-school hip-hop.
The Message - Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five Rapper's Delight - Sugarhill Gang (from 1979, but you never know) Planet Rock - Afrika Bambaataa & The Soul Sonic Force White Lines (Don't Do It) - Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five It's Like That/Sucker MCs - Run DMC Magic's Wand - Whodini Change the Beat - Fab 5 Freddy That's the Joint - Funky Four Plus One The Breaks - Kurtis Blow (from 1980) Body Mechanic - Quadrant Six

Thought I heard "Radio Clash" by The Clash. And "Only You" is by Yaz, not Yazoo.

Thought I heard "Radio Clash" by The Clash. And "Only You" is by Yaz, not Yazoo. That is partially incorrect. The band's name was Yazoo, but they were renamed to Yaz for the US market. So colo was correct to call them Yazoo. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yazoo_%28band%29

Thought I heard "Radio Clash" by The Clash. And "Only You" is by Yaz, not Yazoo. Early on Alison Moyet's "Yaz" was in fact known as "yazoo" from their album "Upstairs at Eric's". And I see Electrophile has already chimed in on this. Not that I wanted to argue but only because I am that old and have the album. Yes, the LP!

Thanks for the correction, all.
I had that LP as well (though who knows how long it's been since I've actally looked at it), but only know/knew them as Yaz.

Boy, was I off! I initially had a couple of those songs on my list (Dazz Band, Blondie, The Gap Band) but I decided to go in a different direction thinking it would better suit the subject of the episode.
