Hey guys Although I'm not a huge L+S shipper I got this idea some time ago (partially by talking to LillyScotty ) and decided to write it out. Hope you'll enjoy it. Oh, I have a strange writing style and also make grammar mistakes so let me apologize for that up front. Rating: PG-13 (most likely will stay that way) Pairing: well...L+S as mentioned above Intro: Scotty is available and Lilly is having whatever she's having with Eddie in S7. Scotty and Lilly were sent to Las Vegas to investigate a case. That's where the story takes off. Note: italicized text is when they are thinking to themselves. **************************** Lilly woke up to the sound of her cell phone ringing. She raised her head and realized it’s not the only thing ringing. Her head was pounding. Maybe it was because of sleeping in crappy bed in crappy motel or maybe because of the alcohol consumed night before, she didn’t care, just wanted it to stop right now. Lil extended her hand to pick up her cell phone from nightstand. “Rush,” her voice hoarse. Oh yeah, definitely too much alcohol last night.“Detective Lilly Rush? From Philadelphia PD?” “Yes. May I know who’s-“ “Officer Davis from Las Vegas PD,” man interrupted, “Scotty Valens is your partner, is that correct?” “Yeah. Did something-“ “And are you still in Vegas, ma’am?” Lil noticed amusement in officer’s voice, “Can you just tell me what this is regarding?” “Ma’am, I’m not sure what customs you have in Philly, but here in Vegas we do pick up people that fall asleep in the middle of the street. As a courtesy to fellow officer we will let detective Valens out IF you come and get him,” Davis tried to sound as professional as possible, but Lil heard laughing of other officers in the background. “I’ll be there as soon as possible.” With that Lilly hung up and threw her phone to her side. She got up quickly which turned out to be a mistake. She stumbled onto a wall, her head spinning. Jeez Rush, no more drinking ever again, she thought to herself while slowly moving towards the suitcase on the table. Just now she noticed she was completely naked and that fact surprised her even more than call she received a minute ago. Lilly tried to think hard of the last night events but her mind drew blank. Minutes later Lil was at the LV police station waiting for Scotty to be brought to her. She tried to avoid the looks all officers there were giving her. She heard them whisper and then laugh hard. Nice work Scotty. That gave them great impression of Philly Homicide, Lilly was looking at the ground embarrassed by the situation. “Here he is. Our sleeping beauty,” detective Beyer opened the door bringing Scotty out. His words made all officers and detectives around burst out laughing. Lil redden with shame and looked up to see Scotty in front of her in his creased suit. He looked like he had even worse hangover than her. He deserves it, if Lil’s look could kill then Scotty would be dead by now. “Detective Rush, it’s nice to see you again,” Beyer smiled to the blond. “I’m very sorry-“ Lil started slowly but got interrupted by Beyer. “Detective, don’t worry ‘bout it. You know our city’s motto. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. We are still grateful for helping us solve our case. Are you able to go home now?” “Yes. I called the airlines. Blizzard in Philly passed and we’re flying home in few hours.” “Good to hear that. Just try to keep your partner from sleeping on busy streets until then,”Beyer grinned. Lil helped Scotty to the rental car. On their way to the motel both didn’t speak a word. Same was on their way to the airport. Scotty finally decided to break the silence while they waited to board the plane. “Rush. I’m sorry for…ya know…that,” she hinted shame in his voice but still was mad at him. “What were you thinking? Sleeping on the street? What were you even doing there? Know what, I don’t even care. You embarrassed yourself, department and me!” Scotty lowered his head knowing she was right. He also knew that not only flight home but also their partnership from now on will be very awkward.

Happy New Year to everyone! Some of ya may know already where I'm going with this story but I hope you'll still read it Oh, criticism and more twists to the story are very welcome, since I'm trying to improve my writing *************************************************** Next morning Scotty walked into the office and spotted Lilly already there sitting by her desk over some files. “Rush.” He sat down by his desk opposite her trying to avoid her look. It didn’t matter since Lilly didn’t even look up. “Valens.” Came a cold response and he knew that voice. Ice Queen was back. “So? Come on Scotty, spill it! How much did ya lose while in Vegas?” Nick grinned seeing Scotty. A lot! His dignity, Lil smirked. A lot, my dignity, Scotty sadden but tried to hide it from fellow detectives, “Nah, not much,” he lied. “You can be honest with us, Valens,” Will noticed something strange in Scotty’s response. “Bet he lost all his savings,” Nick teased. “Ok. There’s $500 missin’ from my account. Happy now?” Scotty snapped. “Only? That’s not a lot,” Kat came from break room, “Did Rush here kept you on short leash?” I should have, Lil smirked again not looking up. She should have, Scotty noticed Lil’s smirk and felt guilty again, “How were you behaving while we were gone?” His poor attempt to change the subject somehow worked. “First Thursday’s not the same when two of you are gone,” Kat shrugged and sat by her desk. “Yeah, I need my wing man,” Nick smiled, “Wanna go out tonight, Valens.” One embarrassing night a month is enough, Scotty thought to himself. “Nah, I’ll pass.” Good, ‘cause I will not bail you out again, Lilly grabbed her mug and headed for break room to refill on coffee. All day Scotty tried to recall the events of his last night in Sin City. He remembered their flight being cancelled due to weather on East coast and frantic calls they made looking for any rooms available so they would not be stuck sleeping in the airport. Scotty smiled to himself remembering Lilly’s reaction to the sleazy motel room, but it was all that was left. Aha! Scotty jumped in his seat when more memories came back. What was it that I said? We don’t have to spend all our time in those rooms? Yeah, that was it. Oh no! Scotty’s smile disappeared instantly. That’s why he had a hangover next day. He and Lilly went to the bar to celebrate closing of the case and to get away from that motel. But some more pictures came to his mind from that night – empty shot glasses stood in front of him. Were those…? Nah, not possible.“Lilly?” Scotty turned to her and froze. She was still the Ice Queen. Whole day has passed and she was still tiffed at him. What else could he expect, but man has to have hope, “Rush? Can we talk?” “No, unless it’s about work.” “About Vegas case…” “We closed that case. We’re back in Philly.” “But,” he needed to continue, needed to know what happened, “did we drink…tequila?” “Tequila? Who has tequila?” Nick came in just to hear Scotty’s last word. “Bars have tequila. Liquor stores too. But men shouldn’t drink it, just messes with their heads,” Lilly retorted before grabbing her coat and storming off. “What’s with her? PMS?” “That’s all you can think bout? How bout you just shut up, Vera.” Scotty snapped before leaving the office for a night. “What’s with people these days? Can’t take a joke?” Nick murmured angrily.

More coming next year From central standard time perspective ****************************************** Scotty was lying on the floor unable to sleep. Before that he tried the bed but it didn’t bring any sleep. Neither did couch, nor recliner. During the nights like this one Scotty would just drink a glass of whiskey on the rocks to get him to doze off, but not tonight. Tonight just a sight of the bottle made him sick. It also brought more questions and questions were what Scotty had plenty of already. Why was he sleeping on the street on that last night in Vegas was the biggest one he had. And why now, suddenly, after so many years of partnership, he felt different about Rush. Since the moment she came for him to the Vegas police every time he saw Lilly his heart skipped a beat. He couldn’t figure it out. Her sight was something he craved more of. Even with Rush being mad at him it didn’t interfere with what he felt. Her Ice Queen attitude was somehow appealing to him too. He would be happier if she would forgive him of course, but just seeing those blue eyes and that amazing pale skin and her smile. Oh yes, he got a glimpse of her beautiful smile today. It wasn’t to him, but that didn’t change anything. Scotty felt excited just being in the same room as his partner. Hell, just being in the same town made him grin. And that’s what he was doing now – staring at the blank ceiling grinning like crazy. Each time he blinked he saw Lilly in front of him and that vision made him breathless. He didn’t know what to do with himself. What the hell happened in Vegas? He took a look around a room and spotted a suitcase that he still didn’t unpack. He felt like it’s daring him to act. Act on what? My fantasies? My dreams? My needs? My…feelings?Scotty couldn’t take it anymore. He put on his old sweatshirt and the first pair of pants he could find and left his apartment in a hurry. At the same time in other part of Philadelphia Lilly was sitting on the sofa with a mug of tea in her hands. She hoped that will help her fall asleep. It didn’t do much in that department just like running in the park she did earlier didn’t help. When she returned home that evening she thought it’s the anger that didn’t allow her to rest. What Scotty did was stupid, crazy and very embarrassing for her. Sure he must have still remembered that. And if he didn’t I did a great job reminding him, she praised herself. Yet, somewhere between then and now Lilly realized there’s something more to this whole situation. Why the hell every time she closed her eyes she saw Scotty’s chocolate eyes and fantastic smile and those abs you just can’t take your eyes from. Abs? How can I know he has amazing abs? Amazing…? Do you even hear yourself, Rush? It wasn’t like her to fantasize about Valens. They were partners for so long and, sure once in a while, especially at the beginning she did try to imagine how he looked under his suit, but she pushed those thoughts away. There were so many things that stood in a way of her and Scotty getting together. And he always does something stupid that hurts me! Lil needed to forget about him, they were partners. That’s all. And yet, she felt something different towards him since they returned from Nevada. And the image of Scotty's abs wasn't just her imagination acting up. Lilly didn't know how was that possible but she was sure she saw his abs at one point during their trip. What the hell happened in Vegas? Olivia purred interrupting Lilly’s train of thoughts. She took a look at the cat but a suitcase that cat stood on brought Lil's attention. Lil still didn’t unpack it. Somehow she didn't want do so. Not because it brought more shameful memories. No, it wasn’t that. Sight of the suitcase brought a smile on Lilly’s face and she couldn’t figure out why. Suddenly she heard knocking on the door. It was middle of the night already but Lil got up to open it without even a second though, smiling like crazy.

Explanation of what happened in Vegas - soon I'm very sorry guys that I have to keep you waiting Happy New Year to all readers! ************************************************* Upon opening the door Lilly saw bouquet of roses on her doorstep. She looked around but in the darkness of the night she didn’t see anyone. When she picked them up she saw a note tucked in-between them. Hey, gorgeous. Sitting there thinking of me? Coz I’m thinking of you. Haven’t seen you for a week. If you want to meet, you know where to find me.Saccardo! Crap! How could I forget about him? Lil sat down back on the couch placing flowers in front of her, but her eyes went to the suitcase again. And again it made her smile. It’s gonna be a long night.Rush got to the office little before 5 in the morning. Unable to sleep, she went where she knew she can at least get her mind occupied with something different than her own life. She headed straight for the break room for some strong coffee. “Hey.” Lil jumped startled and turned to see Scotty sitting on the couch in his sweatshirt and some old jeans. His hair a complete mess, eyes tired. “Did you…sleep here?” “Nah. Came to check on something,” he knew she didn’t buy that but she didn’t push for the truth and he was too afraid to say the truth. Lilly poured coffee to two mugs and handed one of them to Scotty. “Not mad at me anymore.” “What makes you say that?” Lil raised an eyebrow. She wasn’t sure if she was mad or not, wasn’t sure of anything anymore. Scotty raised his mug slightly indicating what he meant. “Coffee is just…complimentary.” She bit her lower lip. And goes with your eyes. Crap! Rush, push those thoughts away. Push them away. Push them-“Have you had breakfast yet?” Scotty interrupted her thoughts. “What? No.” “Then how ‘bout I-“ “And I’m not hungry.” She knew what he wanted to propose and needed to stop him before he said that. Unfortunately, it came out harsh. The moment she heard her own voice Lil regretted saying it at all. “You don’t have to be a b*tch about it, ya know.” Scotty snapped, got up and headed to his desk. Wtf? Did I just say that? Scotty’s eyes widened and he wanted to turn and beg for forgiveness but was afraid she will strangle him right then and there. It was safer to just keep walking. Wtf? Did he just say that? Lilly’s eyes widened and she wanted to scream for forgiveness but was afraid he won’t listen, that her tone will say more than she would like it to say. It was safer not to speak. Lil stayed in the break room for next half hour getting courage to go to Scotty and apologize. She tried not to look at him but couldn’t help not to. And each time he looked in her direction she quickly moved her head away. Go, Rush! Just walk there and say one short word – sorry. He’ll forgive you. Go!Scotty noticed a movement and raised his head. In front of him stood an angel – with incredible blue eyes and gorgeous pale skin shyly smiling to him. He’s heart melted instantly. He wanted to just kiss her, say that he loves her. He wanted her to just he his. He opened his mouth but stopped before saying anything. Think what you want to say, Valens. Stop saying stuff without thinking! Stop being an ass.Scotty noticed she wanted to say something too, but instead she turned and hurried off to the hall. Don’t just sit here, stupid. Chase her! Scotty got up and run to the hall. He caught the glimpse of her just before elevator door closed. Too slow, stupid. Scotty looked around, seeing stairway door he sprinted towards them. But maybe not too late.

Elevator door opened and Lilly smiled inwardly seeing Scotty standing right in front of her trying to catch his breath. That’s what she hoped for, that he will run after her. That he cares about her and will not let her leave. Yet, she still didn’t have enough courage to say what she felt for him. Besides she wasn’t sure what she really felt for him or what words to use, or how to arrange them so he wouldn’t get scared or she wouldn’t get scared hearing her words aloud. Lil released the breath she didn’t realize she was holding when he spoke first. It was a good thing, she thought, because if the silence would stretch for any longer she would just kiss him right there and what if that wasn’t what he felt for her? She would just make an idiot out of herself. What she didn’t know was that Scotty spoke first just to keep himself from kissing her. Because that one small innocent kiss, if she didn’t feel the same for him, would ruin their partnership for good. He would have to transfer out. And that was the last thing he wanted since he would rather be secretly in love with her and see her everyday than still love her and not see her ever again. For that same reason he needed to carefully choose his words. “Lil, what I said…I didn’t mean to say it.” Sounded good. Simple and innocent, he thought. “Scotty, I should be the one to apologize. What I said…I didn’t mean to say it the way I did,” I shouldn’t even say it at all. Come on, Rush, tell him that. Their eyes met and another silent moment arose. They would have noticed that something else was hanging in the air, but both were to busy keeping themselves in check not to do something crazy that couldn’t be taken back. “I know you don’t want to talk ‘bout it Lil, but the Vegas thing-“ “Already forgotten.” Lilly smiled and that made Scotty’s heart skip a beat. God, her smile is amazing. “What happens in Vegas…” his trailed off looking down in shame. “Hey,” she gently brought his face up and looked into his eyes. “Stays there.” Scotty smiled and that made Lilly’s heart skip a beat. God, his smile is amazing. “Lilly, I…” …love you. Come on Valens, say it out loud, his conscious prompted him. “Yeah?” Is it possible he wants to say it? That he…loves me? She wanted him to say that even though she was scared to hear it. “I…am a bit hungry. You wanna join me for breakfast?” Lilly forced herself to smile, not wanting to look disappointed, “Sure.” See Rush? He doesn’t love you so stop feeling whatever it is you’re feeling towards him.
Both, Lilly and Scotty, too afraid to admit to feeling they had for each other needed to return to previous state of affairs. Scotty pushed his furniture back, what became a permanent arrangement of his apartment, and jumped rope every day trying to ignore his love for Lilly. And Lilly met with Eddie everyday, even if just for 5 minutes, in hopes that her feelings towards him are greater and stronger than crush she had on Scotty. Both were trying hard to forget but both were failing miserably. From his desk Scotty would observe Lilly each moment she wasn’t looking which wasn’t easy since she tried to do the same. She studied his face carefully trying to take the best mental picture possible so that when she left work that image of him would last until the next morning. Scotty took it even further. One day, pretending he’s sending a text message, he took few pictures of her. And, even though they weren’t of the best quality, he couldn’t stop looking at them imagining she’s looking at him, smiling to him, that she was his...
It was now two weeks since they returned from Las Vegas. For Scotty another Friday night meant another weekend away from Lilly. He just needed to survive two days and then he could see her in flesh again. Pictures were not enough anymore. And just like the last weekend, he hoped that some big case will emerge and they will be called in right away and then he wouldn’t have to wait till Monday to see her. He got to his apartment and looked around. Cold, sad place, he thought. Another night of jumping rope and scotch…great. He picked up a stack of letters delivered today. In-between bills and flyers was one envelope that immediately got his attention.

When Scotty read the content of the envelope all events of his last night in Vegas flashed before his eyes. He knew exactly what happened between the moment him and Lilly left for the bar that night to the moments before falling asleep on the street. Scotty chuckled realizing him sleeping there wasn’t his fault, but it didn’t matter much anyway. What was important was what happened before and that it was the reason why he felt so much different about Lilly from then on. He smiled and tears of joy run down his cheeks. It was the best letter he ever got in his life, the one that could make it easier to confess to Lilly that he loves her. Maybe yesterday was the last day of jumping rope and drinking scotch and from now on he could be happy spending his time on building the relationship with the woman he couldn’t take his eyes off. Maybe now he could finally kiss her like he wanted to kiss her for last two weeks, without worrying that it might ruin their partnership. And, maybe, she would lean into his embrace while they would lie in a bed. And in the morning he would bring her breakfast and gently take the lock of hair of her eyes and kiss her like they never kissed before. Maybe from now on every morning he could wake up next to the woman that took over his heart. Maybe…Valens, think straight! You know how Rush will react. She will run! Smile disappeared off his face. His conscious was right. It all dependent on Lilly’s reaction to this letter. His first thought now was to wait until Monday to tell her, but knowing Lil like he knew her she would only get madder that he waited two days to tell her. And she needed to know, she had a full right to know...Scotty grabbed keys and left the apartment.
Scotty wasn’t sure if Lilly is even home when he parked his car nearby. All he saw were light that he knew Lil left always on. His heart started pounding harder as he exited the car. He walked towards her home and through the window saw her sitting on the couch in the living room. He got the courage to get to her front door but then he just stood there with his hand extended ready to knock on them. It might have been just minutes but to him it felt like hours. When he finally knocked on them it took Lilly seconds to open the door. “Scotty?” Her eyes first widened but then she smiled giving Scotty courage he needed. “Hey. Can I come in?” Be polite, Valens. Don’t rush it. “Uhmm…sure.” She moved aside to let him in. When she closed the door behind him they just stood there looking at each other. Smiling. Both of them too afraid to speak first. “Something…happened?” Lil spoke first when silence got more awkward than pleasant. Scotty cleared his throat and took the letter out, “You need to read this.” She shook her head. “It’s about a work?” “No…and yes.” Lil looked at him puzzled and took a letter from his hand. Scotty moved closer to her, ready to catch her just in case she fainted reading it, even though he knew it wasn’t like Rush to faint but that kind of news…Valens, moving closer means she can hit you more easily, fool.
Lilly slowly unfolded the letter. With her heart pounding like crazy and eyes slowly widening she started reading partially out loud. “This is to certify…undersigned pastor….did on…at Las Vegas…join in lawful wedlock Scott Valens of…and Lillian Rush of…” She finished reading and her eyes went to Scotty’s. She looked like a deer caught in the headlights. “Is this…real?” He smiled shyly. “As real as it gets.” It was a good thing Scotty moved closer to Lil when he did. He caught her body instantly when she fainted. “Guess there’s first time for everything.” Scotty carried her upstairs to her bed and covered with blanket kissing her lightly on the forehead before heading back down.

Lilly woke up hoping Scotty’s visit and certificate she saw was just a figment of her imagination, some strange dream brought on by fantasies she’s been having about her partner. After all their reputation was on the line, they could both loose their jobs, be transferred or, in the best case scenario, not be partners any more. But that last scenario made Lilly smile. It wouldn’t be so bad, she thought. If feelings she’s been having was actually love, that one true love thing she heard people talk about, then would not being partners anymore at work be so bad if she could get Scotty all to herself, to be together forever with him. Lil chuckled and shook her head. Nah, Rush, it was just a dream. Even if you love Scotty, you can be sure he doesn’t love you. Not possib-Do I smell coffee? Wait. Who’s in my kitchen? Lilly slowly got out of bed and walked downstairs trying not to make any noise. When she got there, she saw Scotty cooking and…is he singing? In Spanish? Lil realized that what she thought she dreamed about might have really happened.
Scotty heard footsteps behind him; he immediately stopped singing and turned. Seeing Lilly he smiled. In the back of his mind he was trying to find the right words to start the conversation with but couldn’t find any. The sight of Lilly before him made him loose all the ability to think straight. “Smells great,” Lil started off. “Yeah.” Lilly poured herself a cup of coffee. “I’m gonna go get changed. Be right back.” Lil grabbed her mug and headed upstairs while Scotty just nodded still unable to say anything logical.
Few minutes later Lilly was back sitting by the counter. Scotty passed her a plate with pancakes and sat next to her. “We need to talk first.” Lil pushed the plate away. He shrugged, “Ok. About?” “How about us? That thing from yesterday?” Crap, Valens. Here it comes; she doesn’t feel the same about you. Be a man! Whatever she says don’t cry…at least not in front of her. “Scotty, what we did in Vegas…don’t you think it was crazy?” Lil looked into his eyes trying to figure out how he felt about her. Oh yes, he made her breakfast, but maybe that was just a gesture. To make her feel just a tad better. He smiled. “Yeah. It was.” See, Rush? Just a gesture. “We should look for a way to annul it then.” Somehow that one little word made Scotty lose all his control. After all he wanted to be with Lilly no matter what and if that meant changing the topic to make her forget about possibility of annulment, then he needed to do that. “Oh no! First you should look for a way to apologize to me,” his voice raised. Wrong topic fool and raising your voice was stupid too. “For what?” “Being tiffed at me when it was your own damn fault I ended up at police station.” “If you weren’t so stubborn that night you wouldn’t get yourself in trouble.” “You said you’re havin’ a headache.” “I also said I’ll be fine!” “Well I love you and I care about you! And that night I couldn’t find any aspirin in your suitcase. So what was I suppose to do?” “And you thought going out drunk in the middle of the night was right thing to do?” “Looking back now? I would still go out to get it!” “You were so tired you fell asleep trying. In the middle of a freaking road, Scotty!” “At least I tried to get it! But apparently doing something nice for my wife doesn’t count these days.” With that Scotty stormed out of Lil’s house slamming the door behind him. You just dug your own grave, Valens. Lilly stood in the kitchen totally stunned. She just caught on to his words, to this short statement he made somewhere during their fight. Scotty…loves me? And made a fool out of himself…for me?

Thank you for all the nice comments I'm tryin' to get them together as soon as possible but we all know Lilly and Scotty. They are very stubborn, both have minds of their own, plus the emotional baggage they carry...Not easy to work with characters like them *********************************************** Lilly run out of the house trying to catch Scotty but he was already gone. She went back to grab car keys and like a maniac drove to his apartment. His car wasn’t there yet but she went up to his apartment door to check anyway if he was inside. When no one answered after few minutes Lil got back to her car and parked it some distance away from his building just in case he would spot her first and drive away. She was able to observe cars that parked by his building as well as the entry door, but after few hours Scotty still didn’t show up. She tried calling him few times. Unfortunately he didn’t answer and after a while calls went straight to the voice mail. Lilly got very frustrated when evening approached and Scotty still didn’t come home. He saw your car when you went to knock on his door, Rush. You should have parked far away right then. Now he won’t come. Or maybe he’s waiting for you to come home? She drove home hoping that Scotty’s car will be parked in front of her house with Scotty waiting. Rush, he’s not here either. Why should he be? You yelled at him! Lilly started cruising between her house and his apartment thinking of other places he could be now. She drove by few local pubs but he’s car wasn’t there either. Then she remembered that when she couldn’t sleep she went to the office and that were he was too. She immediately turned the car around and speeded off to headquarters. Even though elevators were working with the same speed as any other day, for her tonight if felt like its taking hours. She spotted stairwell and run as fast as she could upstairs. When she got to their floor catching a breath wasn’t as important as looking around every corner of the office to find Scotty. Crap! He’s not here. Great job, Rush. You scared him away. She got back to her car and started driving around the city with no destination in mind. She just needed to drive. It didn’t help her much but sitting at home wouldn’t do much good either. That was exactly what Scotty did after he left her apartment after the fight. He drove around the city trying to clear his head. He realized he confessed to his love towards her and what hurt him the most was that Lilly ignored it. It was like she didn’t even hear him say it. Scotty needed to forget about her, but how could he when she was his angel. With her porcelain skin and gorgeous blue eyes and smile that could turn the worst day into the most amazing one he needed Lilly to be his. You saw it, fool. She doesn’t love you. And you can’t force her to love you!For both Sunday passed the same way Saturday did. With Lilly driving around trying to find Scotty and him sleeping on the side of the road and then cruising around trying to ignore his feelings. What surprised Lilly was that Scotty didn’t show up at his apartment at all before work on Monday. She hoped he would come to change and get ready, but she realized he kept a change of clothes at the office just in case. And you don’t, Rush. She looked at her wrinkled clothes. Crap. And no time to go change either. You’re already late. When Lilly arrived at the office she ignored at the looks she got. Finding Scotty was her priority now. Yes! He’s here! She spotted him by his desk and approached him from behind making him jump when she put her hand on his shoulder. “Can we talk?” she leaned over to whisper into his ear. Scotty shot her a look, “About what?” “Something we shouldn’t talk about here.” Scotty sighed heavily and followed her to the observation room. “Where have you been all weekend?” her voice soft and caring. He chuckled, “Like you care.” Oh, he was angry and Lilly knew that from the start. She never saw him like that before. Those chocolate eyes that were always so warm and kind were now shooting daggers. If she was the Ice Queen of the department he deserved the title of the Ice King. “I do care.” Choose your words wisely, her consciousness reminded her. “After all you’re my husband.” Rush, didn’t I said wisely? So you don’t scare him?“Don’t worry, Rush. Not for long. I called a lawyer already. We were both drunk, no real consent so it will be easy to annul our mistake. Like it never happened,” he said it all almost on one breath. Lil raised her brows. “What do you mean annul it? Didn’t you-“ “What do I mean? I mean cancel it. Take it back. Forget that it ever happened!” He turned ready to walk out when she stopped him. “Scotty…I…I didn’t know-“ “Rush, let’s not talk about it anymore.” He hissed through teeth. “It was your idea to annul it and I’m going with it. And now I’m going back to work.” He pushed pass her and walked out before Lil could stop him again. But I wouldn’t bring up annulment if I knew you loved me too! Go on, Rush. Yell that! It doesn’t matter you’re at work. Just yell that! Lilly didn’t do what her consciousness told her to do. Instead she closed the door and leaned against them. Tears started running down her cheeks.

Oh no, poor Scotty and poor Lilly. They both can be so stubborn. I hope they sort it out soon. But, this chapter was amazing. :-)
