I wonder if this has something to do with with all the personal stories they have going on for the detectives this season, especially Lilly (feud with Moe, hooking up with Saccardo again, meeting her dad's family). They are rather compelling, though I've found a few of the actual CASES they've had this season rather dull and repetetive ("The Crossing", "Hoodrats", "Forensics"), though they've had some interesting ones as well (loved the music in "Soul" and the ending really surprised me, which is rare) I wish there were a way to combine the personal stories of this season with the cases of, say, the fourth season (which, overall, is my favorite). One thing about that article: What's with them calling the show "the CBS missing-persons drama "Cold Case," " (emphasis mine). I think they confused it with "Without a Trace".

I agree about Hoodrats and Forensics. I just couldn't get into Hoodrats and Forensics was too cliched for me. Despite that, Soul,Wasps, and Iced have been solid episodes, with the last one posting the highest ratings of the season thus far.

Forensics had cliches but had a GREAT acting. The murder scene and the scene where Luke and his father are talking are solid and well acted
