www.broadcastingcable.com/article/391283-_Cold_Case_Renewed_On_CBS_Stations.phpWarner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution has renewed off-CBS drama Cold Case for another two years on the CBS Television stations in 16 markets, WBDTD said Tuesday, taking the show through the 2012-13 season. Those markets include the top three: WCBS New York, KCBS Los Angeles and WBBM Chicago. Not sure if this means we'll have two more seasons or not...

I'm not quite sure what it means, either. I thought it meant syndication of already aired episodes. But then that doesn't make sense since TNT is the one re-airing.

Hey guys! I just send a request to my local CBS station to clarify what that info means. And I asked them to explain that in plain English. I'll post their response as soon as thye will answer me (I hope they will).

I got response from CBS. That was fast of them That's what they wrote: "We currently have the rights to air repeat episodes of COLD CASE on the weekends. We currently air those episodes on Sat late night at 12:35am. The report you are referring to confirms that those rights will continue through 2013."

So, now does that mean Cold Case has been renewed for four more seasons?

It's about rerun rights, so you will able to enjoy watching existing episodes 2 more years, being shown again in syndication. Says nothing about any new episodes or seasons. Sorry to scotch hopes here.
Bit of confusing maybe. Thing is, there is the network and there are local stations. Cold Case on Sunday night is a network thing, the reruns on local CBS stations are syndication - and that is what this deal is about.

Kinda thought that's what it was... doesn't hurt to hope though right?

Not sure it'd be really sensible if the show kicked on after this season. Personally, it seems as though that they can't make an episode "excellent" anymore unless they have heavy involvement of a main character's back story, which you really can't do every single episode. S1 S2 were great at being able to get you really interested in the characters of each episode. (sorry for the s1/s2 nostalgia mention)

True in a way.. but that's true of most shows. It's hard after a few years to come up with fresh and new material. IMO, CC is still doing better than many other shows have this late in the game. Without A Trace and Criminal Intent were blah by this point.

Why the show couldn't sustain it's earlier successful ingredients is baffling to me. I've watched shows that have been able to do so for their entire run. Official CBS Release for Cold Case time slot: Cold Case 9 pm ET Sundays

I think the biggest problem is that when the writer's strike ended, most of the CC writers had moved on and new ones had to be found. So far though, I enjoy season 7 far more than season six. I too have seen shows that can do it for their entire run but those are few and far between.

Somehow I missed this even though it was staring into my eyes. I get repeates on W every week, and the new season is starting for me this Wednesday. So I do hope they show new seasons and not repeates in the future. I really want at least one more season, just so they can finish it with a good ending!
