I will admit, I was pretty close to tears on this one. I'd have to put this episode on my top 10 favorite episodes.
but the only thing I didn't understand was why the "caretaker" was arrested if Collin (I think that was his name..) committed suicide?

SPOILER

I thought this story was very well done. Sometimes the stories are a 'hit and miss' but I think that's why the show is appealing because the audience is so varied.
I never would have guessed how this all was to conclude. I did miss Colin's mothers illness as to what it was.
I couldn't believe the father - how he just didn't care about his own son. (what a piece of scum) And Leah making up that Colin made a pass at her how much more difficult it made his already difficult life. This show really brings out the cruelty of human beings.

Oh and at the end the episode was in memory of Kelly Lindquist (1958=2005). I wonder who that is.

S P O I L E R S but the only thing I didn't understand was why the "caretaker" was arrested if Collin (I think that was his name..) committed suicide? Nate, the caretaker, didn't stop Colin from standing on the tracks. He knew that Colin would die if he didn't pull him off but he didn't do anything. He belongs in jail for that. Plus, I don't believe Colin was trying to commit suicide. He was just wishing for his mom to get stronger and Nate agreed with Colin that by standing on the tracks, it may help. This episode was one of the saddest I have ever seen. I was tearing up with it, something I've only done previously while watching "A Time to Hate" and "Fly Away." The cruelty that the world showed to Colin was appaling but unfortunately I believe it could well (and probably does) happen. I thought there was something off about the whole assault thing. It just didn't make sense so I was not surprised when Lea confessed that she had made the whole thing up. How did she live with herself, knowing the pain she was causing his mother? From when we first met Nate, I thought he was somehow involved with Colin's death but I was shocked to see that the mother was also a bit responsible for it. So sad. Colin's father was despicable. Colin really wanted to stay with him and his father wouldn't even give him the time of day. Unacceptable. Lilly was downright cold to Scotty throughout the episode and I must admit I was surprised she restrained herself for so long. I thought for sure she would tear right into him during the first scene in the graveyard. It seemed a bit out of character in my opinion. When she finally let him have it at the station I was also a bit put off by what she said about Elissa. I realize she was upset and I feel she had a right to be but bringing up Elissa's death the way she did was out of line. I think she realizes this but is too proud (or stubborn) to apologize. I am glad Chris is moving out of Scotty's place. She needs to get a life of her own without Lilly and Scotty. They both have a lot of baggage and are just draggin her down. One other scene that just didn't fit was when Colin's friend started to beat him up after Mack did. I didn't see the purpose of that scene and it just served to add insult to injury. I think we were supposed to feel bad for that character but after he kicked Colin and put him down, I felt nothing but disgust towards him.

Yes, I'm wondering the same thing if Nathan goes to jail on this. I kinda got interruped by my 21 year old cat who threw up towards the very end...nice...so I had to clean her up. I was wondering why Colin didn't hear a train was coming. Or if in his imagining he just thought it was part of his wish.
That's the sad part about all of these shows. That all these cases have such heartless people. I think that's one major point the show brings out. That your friends, family and assocates can be seemingly nice people but commit these terrible things against others.
I don't know. Is there something more wrong with Lily? Like some type of psychiatric disorder?
I was surprised to hear she was moving out. So we'll see what happens. The actor who plays Chrissie is now listed in a starring role.

Hi Nikki! Am I the only one that doesn't feel Colin knew there was really a train? Nathan should have got him safely off the tracks. That's just terrible what he allowed to happen. ~Naj

Actually, I just want to know who Kelly Lindquist is (was) as this episode was dedicated to same. P.S. Colin didn't commit suicide - he wanted to be close to the train because he believed that would make his wish (that his mom would get better) come true. He didn't realize the train would hit him!

So young. ~Naj

I only got to watch the last half of the episode because I was studying I'm not sure how I felt about the case, since I missed most of it. But I did see the big blowup scene between Scotty and Lilly and just ... wow. I loved it. I'm a big fan of characters who let their ugly, raw feelings out in the open. It's very difficult to watch, but it makes the characters more real ... and both Kathryn and Danny did an excellent job. I could see how hurt Scotty was, how Lilly knew she'd struck him where it hurt and was a bit sorry for that, yet not sorry enough to apologize. I'm not satisfied with the explanation that Christina's a trainwreck simply because she stole Lilly's fiance, and I hope we get to know a bit more about other stuff she'd done in order to make Lilly so angry. That being said, I am glad Chris is leaving, because her character was, to me, overstaying her welcome. Lastly, I'd like to say that I loved the music in this episode. That ending song has always been one of my favorites and never fails to make me cry.

Wow ..what an episode!! I felt bad for Collin's mom... but I thought maybe Collin's mom maybe had some ingling as to what the caretaker would do I mean I know she didn't want her son be put away... so maybe she knew what option the caretaker would take Collin's father was scum... I can't believe he never gave any kind of support for his child. Mom should have gotten the authorities after to him to pay up for child support As for the Lilly and Scott scene Whoa!! Boy, is she tiffed at him but I don't think she had to throw up in his face about the death of his g/f.. That was a low blow.. I was so frustrated that we were finally gonna hear what happened btwn Christina and Lily.. but nooo ..dayum.. However, we know Lily was engaged and something happened 9 years ago! Lily worked late that night and her fiance was drinking that night.. so either he and sis went out and did the "zug zug" or there was an accident? Is the fiance still alive? did something happen that night that Lily blames Christina for either doing the "zug zug" or he was killed that night? Another thing, maybe Christina got pregnant, but lost the child? I don't know..maybe I'm reading too much into it.. but I hope it comes out sooner or later.. As for the caretake at the train track, I too wonder why he was arrested. I mean couldn't Collin hear the train coming and have some sense to move? then I got an impression b/c maybe he did realize that he was a burden for his mom and she was gonna die (as his friend who was kicking him, told him so ) So, he maybe wanted to die? But I guess since the caretaker was there at the trains, I guess he is responsible for not trying to save him.. The song at the end made me cry too.. All in all it was a great episode and alot of thoughts were going on my mind with the scenario btw Christina and Lily..

I can see why that would make Lilly still upset after 9 years. I mean if her fiancee cheated on Lilly with Chris, Lilly would be mad but would she be so mad that it would be 9 years later and the scars are still fresh. I don't know.
