An absolute four-hankie episode for me, especially when Andre Tibbs shared his final flashback to the murder, and how he stayed there to hold Kate's hand to give her comfort while she was dying. I thought the actor was wonderful. He truly conveyed this complex combination of someone who had had a rough life and done wrong, but had tremendous compassion and goodness and contrition. That said, this was one of the first episodes where I found such an immediate, obvious and gaping hole in plot credibility, the one that everyone else mentioned -- the lack of DNA testing done. If this was 1950 Mississippi or Louisiana or Georgia maybe. But 1994/2006 Pennsylvania? I just can't see sending ANYONE to his execution without appeals based on that. Finally, I always find the incredible depth re: possible hidden meanings and connections some of the posters here delve into fascinating, but I'd be surprised if that much that's speculated was actually intended by the writers. Sometimes a banana is just a banana That said, it's often brilliant (and I hope those posters have taken their hands at writing themselves). Oh, and while I realize it's highly unlikely, I SO hope that at some point in the next four seasons, there will be some throwaway line that refers to Wayne Nelson sitting on death row for this murder. It will, of course, be too soon to execute him.

Sad note to this episode. Michael Jace who played Andre Tibbs in real life was sentenced to 40 years to life for the murder of his wife in 2014. Gives this whole episode a sad ironic feel to it in that a man who played the role of an innocent and caring man so well was a monster in real life.
