I liked it and the Cabaret style. I thought it was interesting to see Lilly, Vera, Kat, and the rest of the gang in a different light. Again, I thought it was Nora, the lead actress, but I was surprise it was not her. I like what Vera said and mentioned he was in "Grease" and brought the house down. I was surprised that Lilly admitted she hated "musicals" and Kat teasing her by singing a tune.. LOL The flashbacks were good and the music were all "Cabaret" songs to the theme of the story, not like they usually do. The actors doing the "Trust Circle" was interesting in which they said a little secret about themselves. Direction mentioning to his actors, that this business is a cut throat one. It was a matter of trusting others, the director, and yourself. All in all, I thought it was a good episode with some fun/banter in it. Chat rundown 4/2/06

I thought this was a good episode, although, that closing scene with the gang at the bar was almost enough to propel it into the excellent category. I tend to reserve that for the eps that are all-around excellent, though. I LOVED the Lilly-hates-musicals running joke. It provided a lighter side to the this show, which is usually very heavy. It just set up so many great scenes: Lilly and Kat, Lilly and Vera, and of course, the final scene. Just pure hysterics! I wonder why she despises them so much? Maybe the girl is just a stick in the mud. I imagine that soccerulz's heart broke a little when Lil said that she hates musicals, though. Andrea Newman always does a nice job of providing plenty of viable suspects. She gives them all believable motives. I think the difference between the killer and the rest of the suspects was the degree of crazy. The director was still clinging to his glory days by pretending that he still had a well-known agent who was coming to the the show. Meanwhile, Nora was so selfish that she was willing to have Clinton hold a gun to Dennis in an attempt to scare him so badly that he wouldn't be able to perform well. But, the craziest of them all was killer Lyle. Not only did he want Nora, but he also wanted Dennis' role, and clearly, he was willing to kill for both. I love how Lilly knew exactly which button to push to get him to go crazy. She's so good at that! Dennis was so likable. I loved how he didn't cheat on Gloria, and how he realized what a wonderful fiancee he had after Nora showed her true colors. His message in the program was really sweet, and I'm glad Lil found it. Gloria needed to see it. I loved the revelation that Vera played Danny Zuko. I'm glad they hinted at Vera's divorce without going into it again. He seems to be dealing with it as well as can be expected. The ending scene in the bar is one of my all-time favorites now. The way the rest of the gang just tormented Lilly was hysterical. What makes scenes like this work so well on this show is the obvious camaraderie between the cast. That scene looked completely natural. I almost felt like it was the actors goofing off together because their emotions seemed that real. I'm bummed that we didn't get more of Kat singing because I love Tracie's voice. I'm loving the Lilly/Kat scenes. They sure showed Rafe! Actually, I'm really liking Kat. She's an interesting character that the show has introduced slowly. Oh, and Lilly once again seemed like her old self again. She looked great as well.

Great review TVFan. Haven't seen it yet but hopefully will have by the end of the day.
Thinking about the Lilly hates musicals thing. She doesn't like alot really does she! She doesn't join in with the card games, she doesn't know anything about sports and now she doesn't like musicals! What an earth does she like besides her cats?? Oh and riding on the back of a motorcycle! :smile31: :smile21:

Was that Katheryn Morris singing at the end? Is that why she was so embarrassed?

I went for excellent. It was such a comical and kinda light hearted episode. I spent most of it giggling! I liked that the director was all about camaraderie between the theatre group people, but we actually got the sense of that kind of relationship between the CC team; that they are all friends and who trust and have a good time with one another. The last part of the montage really showed that and I agree with TVFan that Kat has fitted in so well. Her and Lilly work very well together. I liked the directors comment about 'women cops.' Haven't heard that kinda comment since season 1. Also liked Vera's negativity towards women at the moment. Vey in character that he would be displaying this attitude at this time. I thought Kathryn Morris was just fantastic in this episode. Her facial expressions were just out of this world and totally cracked me up. Lilly must be an easy target cos all of the team tease her more than they do anyone else. She looked stunning to. Notice she was wearing the grey sweater that she wore when she answered the door to Ray in DDA [sorry had to add that in!]. Sorry TVFan I just realised you used the word camaraderie to! I didn't rip you off honestly; I even looked it up in the dictionary to find out how to spell it!

I liked this episode but thought that there was too much focus on the characters and not enough on the detectives. Also, did anyone notice in the scenes for next week Lilly has her hair up like past years as well as this years style.

For my opinion on the episode, just read everything Sonny and TVFan have said.... TVFan: haha, I KNOW! My heart did break a little! But it was funny how they continued that through the story.... But I LOVED how Vera was in Grease. I said "aha! I've got more in common with the big guy than I though!" ;D

Well, I voted...and of course, I'm giving it a "four". I'm not sure if it's sensible for me to participate in voting. I'm always going to give each episode a "four" since this show has two great things going for it: Kathryn Morris and the fact that it takes place in Philly! ha ha ha.

I pretty much agree with what everyone has said..and I especially loved the last scene! Would've been cool if we got to hear Kathryn sing as well though. And just a little sidenote, but did anyone notice that there's a blue mark (tattoo perhaps) on Stillman's right hand. When it covered his face with it at the end we see it..does anyone know what that is?

I noticed that too and thought it must be a tattoo. :smile6:

No worries sonny. It's not my word. I also had to look up how to spell it. It just seems like the perfect word to describe the CC detectives. I think Lilly was embarrised because they were singing show tunes to her, and she hates show tunes. It's kind of like when you go to a restaurant for your birthday and your friends insist on having the servers come over and sing Happy Birthday to you. You're not singing, but it's still quite embarrising. I would like to add to the love for Kathryn's great facial expressions in this episode. Every time someone started with a show tune, she gave us a hysterical look. It was such a contrast to her usual subtle style and it was a lot of fun for this particular story line, if you will.

If I have time I would seek.

If I have time I would seek. You can see that blue mark / tattoo very clearly in 2x11 Blank Generation, when Stillman puts Scotty's gun in his desk drawer. In 2x13 Time to Crime you can see it when Lilly gives him the automatic gun, in 2x14 Revolution when he looks at some notes, and in 2x16 Revenge when he is reading the yearbook of his daughter. But I can't remember the scene frenchfan mentioned, where he gives a file. Before anybody asks, no, I don't have anything better to do than staring at John Finn. Should I?

I have just re-examined the images, it is difficult to say what this tatoo represents. Do you have an idea? (A circle with the letter y inside? really I don't see.)

Do you have an idea? (A circle with the letter y inside? really I don't see.) My memory had help. I've been wondering about that mark for some time and keep an extra folder for screencaps where it's visible. I don't know what it is, only that it's a circle divided by a line in the middle (or perhaps it's a line in the skin?) Perhaps a very small peace sign? That would look like a circle with a y inside. Honestly, when I first noticed it I thought he had an accident with his hand. Isn't there anybody we could ask?

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this comment but I wanted to give a shout-out to Laura Bell Bundy who played Nora. She's from my neck of the woods (sort of) in Lexington, Ky and as just another sign that I'm getting older, I remember seeing her perform in her high school production of "Damn Yankees". She was something of a local celebrity even though so it was nice to see her in this episode.

Sorta interesting coincidence is that Liza Minelli's DVD, "Liza with a 'Z'," was released today. For those who may not remember, Liza Minelli played Sally in Bob Fosse's film version of Cabaret. The television special "Liza with a 'Z'" rode on her popularity from the 1972 movie and features a medley of songs from Cabaret. Liza Minelli fans have been waiting twenty-four years for this DVD to come out! Gosh, I hope we don't have to wait that long for Cold Case DVDs!!!
Rafe (the theatre director), tells Lilly and Kat that he bought the .38 to prepare for an audition for a cop movie, "Blue Blood". I wonder if this was a humorous jab at "Conviction", a BBC drama whose working title was also "Blue Blood". Cold Case, as many already know, is commonly accused of copying the BBC's "Waking The Dead" (as well as CTV's "Cold Squad"). So for Cold Case to imply that Hollywood is copying another BBC cop show is rather funny!

Wooow! I LOVED "Willkommen"! Even though the edited per ProBoard TOS by Naj at first I wanted to give up watching at all. The music was great (I love musicals ) and the case wasn't bad, too. And the last scene when Vera is singing rocks And these faces that Lilly did
