Sounds great. The writer of this episode, Sean Whitesell, also wrote one of my favorite episodes, "Sherry Darlin."

What a great episode! I really like how they brought back James for this one, it really gives the show perspective, showing what's happened to one of the arrested people, instead of just locking them up forever and never being seen again. I wish we could have seen James at 14, but otherwise this ep was really awesome.

Warning: Spoilers Below - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - This episode ruled. Best of all. First, bringing James Hogan back was a great way to update one of the many guest stars and killers. The other crime shows have done this and it is nice for Cold Case to finally do it. The detective we heard about turned out to be from NY and is looking for Christina. Lily is not in the least bit surprised. And nor does she care about Christina either. Vera was his usual self. Seems like Lily and Scotty are getting along again. The best moment goes to Scotty in the end when he used Elisa's suicide to make a point. Seems like he's accepted the fact that she killed herself. I still think George may have had something to do with it. Only a few more episodes to find out if my theory is right. It was cool that Lily is writing back to James. Now if the writers really want to complicate things, they'll bring back Mark Adams from "Lover's Lane". Seems like Lily's approach is getting her a lot of fans who seem drawn to her. My final analysis is once again we have a killer one can't help but feel sorry for. I guess when the killer tries to kill himself you can't help it.

Good evening everyone, Hey, an intense episode tonight, and one that was made all the much better with all Mellencamp in the music. I will bet that tonight's episode won the ratings for Sunday night! A lot to talk about, though. Sorry, I am still a little slow from season one. Was that James guy a character in a first season episode? I was not watching as the first season was airing, so I'm just curious. Also, I am wondering if this guy will be Lilly's new boyfriend? Also, it seems that Scotty is continuing his rebound. He does not seem to be drinking, and he is working with Lil again (another fact which surprised me). Too, it seems the coldness is continuing between Lilly and Christina. I hope the Rush girls are able to pull together, because something tells me that they will need to for the upcoming season finale. And overall, it seemed a sad story, especially the near suicide at the end. But I was very impressed with this story. I am looking forward to the end of the season, take care tonight, everyone!

This was one of my favorite episodes of all time. I really liked the storyline about displaced factory workers. Where I live, we used to have many, many mills that closed down in the 80's and so many people got laid off and were just lost. I could relate to the storyline in that way so I was engrossed that much more. To answer your question Brydman: James was a character from Season 1 whom Lilly convinced not to kill himself in the end of the episode "Sherry Darlin" It was great to see James again. He was one of my favorite characters from season 1. I found it very clever how the writers made James a relative of the victim and also the reason the case was re-opened. Joe seemed like such a great person and I really liked the character and felt a tremendous loss with his death. I did guess the killer right off but was again shocked at the reason behind the killing. It was so stupid and unnecessary. Very sad for Joe's family. I also liked Scotty's scene in the end when he spoke so passionately about suicide and how people are left behind with so many questions. Very touching. I liked Scotty much more in this episode. I hope his days of taking shots of tequila or whatever it was are over. I don't see a resolution anytime soon between Lilly and Chris. They are permanently estranged, in my opinion. The NYPD detective seems interesting. I wonder if we'll see him again. Did anyone notice the camerawork in this episode and the blurriness in many shots. At first it was confusing as I thought there was something wrong with my eyes but after I realized it was the visual style they were aiming for in this episode, I enjoyed it. A bit of variety and it fit with the area and storyline. The scenes of the old mill really added another dimension to this episode as did the John Mellencamp soundtrack. I'd say this episode is definately now in my top 10 and maybe in my top 5. Great writing and great acting in this one. My only issue was there was not enough of Stillman and Jeffries in this episode. As an aside: Did anyone think that when Joe, Butch and Monty were in Johnstone's house trying to get they chandalier down, that the stairway and hallway looked just like the one in Lindsey and Stevens house from "Schadenfraude?"

I finally felt a quality of a season 1 episode here. It felt like home again. So James has been writing Lilly, eh? Who would have ever guessed that? And she's finally going to write back. I'd love to read that. I'm also a Chad Allen fan and it was great to see him in the character Monty. Kudos to the writers and directors on this one. Next week really looks good too. Can't wait. ~Naj

I'm also a Chad Allen fan and it was great to see him in the character Monty. I was so glad Lilly decided to write back to James. It was the right thing to do and Lilly finally realized that. Whether it was her intention or not, she became James' friend a year ago and in essence saved his life. That will always be true and they will always have a connection. Kind of hard to ignore. I'm also a Chad Allen fan from way back when. Great to see him on TV again.

I don't know if it was my television, or what. But all the flashback scenes on the bottom of my screen were BLURRY for this episode. People were constantly out of focus. If it wasn't my television, I hope this wasn't some new gimick they are going to start using, because it looks REALLY BAD.

I can understand where your coming from but I liked this style. It was different and really set the tone of the episode. Mid 80's, gritty, poor. I think it fit but I wouldn't want this style used in each episode.

As you know I haven't watched this ep, but it sounds really good. I'm glad they're using new visual effects--even when they're annoying I enjoy seeing all the creativity they have, putting elements together in order to recreate the "feeling" of a certain time and place. Anyone notice the "grainy" quality of the Mindhunters flashbacks? I just noticed it a few days ago. Keep it in mind for the rerun.

do you think that maybe Christina knew that the detective was looking for her and maybe he's the "new york guy" she's running from??

I'm back finally! I now have my computer fix and I'm ready to go. Yeah!
I liked this episode because I really could relate to Joey. I happen to trust folks a little too much myself and I need to stop that. Plus, he was really all around good guy who was trying to do the right thing for his family and friends.
Boy, has Chad Allen grown up from his days on Doctor Quinn. I kept imagining him with blond hair all through the epsiode.
The scene at the end where they are trying to convince Monty not to kill himself was good. Just by looking at Scotty's face, I got the impression that he was "talking" to his girlfriend. He looked like he was about to cry. Just seeing this guy with the knife and knowing he wanted to kill himself, it just hit home to Scotty. Since he couldn't stop her nor find out why she did it, this guy was the closest he could get. I think he was reliving something via Monty.
This episode hit home to me because I remember going through times like that when I was growing up, and i have to say that using John Mellencamp's music fitted in perfectly. TEXT

I have to say I really liked this episode. I thought the acting was great, the songs were great and the whole storyline just really kept me guessing.
I also liked that NYPD cop that came looking for Lilly's sister... did anyone else see chemistry there?
