This episode will be rerunning Sunday April 10th at 8:00pm.
This really was a great episode. I won't mind seeing it again.

I agree that Daniela was good. I really felt for the poor thing--all she wanted was to be treated and loved like a girl. Too bad no one could accept it, except her boyfriend, who allowed himself to be bullied. The only thing that disappointed me is that I had guessed she would turn out to be a guy. I thought it was because it was very similar to an episode on The Practice... but now that Tati mentioned it, I think we may have been spoiled by our cable company.

Good evening everyone,
Yeah, I got to watch this show for the first time over the last hour. I thought it was a little strange, but it was good. Obviously was and is a tense subject to deal with.
I saw that Veena Sud wrote it, and she is always good. ("Mind Hunters" and all the rest) Plus, the little jokes with Vera not believing someone was the opposite sex were hilarious! Overall, I will watch it again.

I have seen Daniela recently, twice: in polish and with german dubbing :] And wow, such a great episode! The best thing was the choice of music. I love all the songs, mostly "Goodbye Girl" and "Please Don't Go", so these are the last 2. I didn't expect Daniela to be a man and idn't know who was a killer. Maybe... hm, I wasn't even wondering. Lilly was more beautiful then normally :] I just love this woman

Oh I love this ep... it is all so cute and still so shocking, who would have ever known that cute girl was a cute boy??? hell, I wa shocked, but I was even more shocked about the way people treated her, she was a girl, not a boy... it was that simple...

Sad episode. Never thought it was a suicide. How tragic. Their dancing scene in the ending was so touching. Loved the part where Lilly crossed out ''Doe Jane'' on the box and wrote ''Daniela'' instead of her/his real name. Also I love all the songs. If I remember correctly, The Village People is typical being of a gay? Some things bug me. 1. If Chris thought Daniela was his one and only, and treated her as a girl-what she was, I wonder why he took a corsage, her bag, and her dress away from her and threw it away like a piece of trash. I don't get it. 2. Isn't it SO easy to identify the victim was a male with DNA? Maybe not back then, but in 2004? They couldn't find it out until Daniela's mom told them?? Weird. 3. How come they didn't arrest Chris for abandoning a dead body? Do you have the statute of limitations on that in the States?

To answer some of your questions.
1. Writers needed to leave some trace of evidence for the police to find so it would be a case.
2. They could have known it was male even in '79. The science to discover chromosomes existed. But since it was a dress, they must have assumed it was female and left it at that. Depends on the assigned detective.
3. Statute of limitations may have existed for something like that. Also, you need to take into account the circumstances. Chris didn't kill her and didn't want everyone to know the truth. Plus, it is a TV show. Now, if it were CSI, he would have been arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent. But Cold Case seems to let these things go.

I loved how Lilly handled the whole thing, especially understanding why Daniela wanted so bad for people to see her as a girl. Daniela died not knowing really that Chris truely saw her as a girl and loved her for who she was dispite what when on that evening. It's sad how she gave up fighting because of that

Whoa! Great episode. I never expected any of the turns in the story, nor the final outcome.
One of the 'red light districts' of Philly is an area of lower Northeast Philly. I'm not sure if it extends as far north as the bus depot that's located at the end of the Market-Frankford "El", though being 1979, I suppose it's possible. This would be near the area where the prostitutes hung out in season one's "Churchgoing People", so there's some nice consistency to the story if one assumes that this is the case.
Daniela is said to have lived in the Grays Ferry neighborhood, on Dickinson Street. Get it?? "Dick-in-son"?? he he he... Yes, it's an actual street in South Philly, and when it runs into the Grays Ferry (and Point Breeze) neighborhood, it's a *really* rough area. It's definitely possible that Daniela's house had been abandoned for decades. Grays Ferry also runs alongside the Schuylkill River, so Daniela could've been buried riverside not far from her apartment, like portrayed in the closing montage.
John--an appropriate name--is driving a Caddy in the closing montage. (You can see the brand's crest on the steering wheel.) I'm not sure what the significance of this is, other than Cadillacs are used very often in this show. Off the top of my head, I can easily remember that in season three's "One Night", its the car used to go to the prom. Early in season three's "Bad Nights", I believe it was revealed that Jeffries' wife was in a Caddy when she died. In season one's "Lover's Lane", Mark drives a Caddy in 2004, as visible in the closing montage. While Caddies have been used in crime scenes, most of the police cars in this show are Ford Tauruses.

Interesting episode and I didn't think she was once a boy when they went to the mom's house.
Kinda sad though that the one who loved her was bullied by his dad unless he knew that Daniela was a boy.

My jaw dropped to the floor when the mom said, that was her son! When my son tells me that some boy/girl at school is gay, (kids at school can be very cruel when they see a kid acting feminine.) I always tell him to be nice to them, because their lives are so much difficult than ours (straight people) - I had a gay friend, and he was always sad, because his family didn't know he was gay...only a few friends knew. This was a sad episode.

I really loved this episode. I kinda had it figured out when they was talking about the male voice and he was unknown and never seen.
It was just really sad that she just wanted people to "see her" and she gave up before she truly knew that he did see her.
