I typed in "Lilly" as a search on the iTunes store and I found a few songs that had "Lilly" in the title. I ended up really liking this one called "Lilly (are you happy)" by Hall and Oates. It's kind of a groovy, wistful song that makes me think of the season finale of last season... Lilly lying in her bed, all alone after she broke up with Kite. (right-click and "save target as..." to save to your hard drive) www.kmrocks.com/audio/lilly_are_you_happy_hall_and_oates.mp3(5.7 MB) It's from the album "Whole Oates", which was released way back in 1972. You can hear a little preview of the clip on the amazon.com webpage for it: tinyurl.com/4fanwI don't know anything about Hall and Oates--but one thing I just found out from a google search is that Hall & Oates grew up in Philadelphia!

Well, there's of course The Who's "Pictures of Lily": "Pictures of Lily made my life so wonderful."

Thanks irishkale,
I've always liked Hall and Oates. Do you think they were psychic and knew that some day a big show would come along about a Philadelphia homicide detective named Lily? They are considered from Philadelphia as well. Kinda ironic. If Lily ever gets a love match again--maybel they'll use the song. {Okay they probably won't unless they do an ep about young Lily .. that would work}

That song would have worked really well in the closing scenes of season 1 Irishkale! Thanks for posting it. I love the Philadelphia connection as well. Great stuff!

There's two songs by Matt Pond PA (I love that band) called Lily One and Lily Two (how original) and the lyrics even match up... I think if you google or go lime you'll find them. I'll post some lyrics because there so damn fine; I love listening to these songs when I'm writing a fic; puts me in the right headspace!
Lily One - (c) Matt Pond PA Artist: Matt Pond PA Album: Four Songs EP Year: 2004 Title: Lily One
Lily, tell your mother I've been thinking: Winter changes nothing. The frost east can bring the highways down. I went to a movie I want to believe in. The actors were all looking at me. Stupidly, I sat struck dumb. Would feel alright with the lights on? Would it all be right with the lights on?
Lily, there's a picture of your mother. I'm sickened when I see it. It must be something to be her kind. I saw a movie I think I believe in. The actors all fell back and they were laughing. The frame stopped and I started thinking, Would this feel alright with the lights on? Would it all be right with the lights on?
There is no sign to be discreet, To clutter up the clearings. This is casting out and waiting, Hanging lines to stay up late with. The cold that holds the corner Cannot be more boring. Startled now that there's all these lights on. God, it pays to be shortsighted.
Lily Two - (c) Matt Pond PA Artist: Matt Pond PA Album: Emblems Year: 2004 Title: Lily Two
who knows what’s right lily you don’t have to when you see the moon you trust it’s light the crickets sing loud lily you can hear it in their voices how you’ve made them proud
at the top of your voice there is no doing wrong i swear lily you be just who you are
don’t keep appointments with disappointment hiding in a hiding place you don’t have to look away the mississippi brings new water every day
look at the sun how it glows in a million waves lily there are just as many ways
at the top of your voice there is no doing wrong i swear lily you be just who you are
southern skies lily you’re connected to the stars and to the world tonight
the night is fair lily it can promise that the next day there’ll be so much there
Then there's another song by Cotton Mather from the Veronica Mars soundtrack called Lilly Dreams On. It's a really gorgeous tune.;
Lily I hope you picture me in your dreams Put down your King James Bible, You don't need no kings Close you eyes, baby I'll dry mine Echoes through the phone Far from this, Lily dreams on Think back to fields of Catherine, you used to play I swore I heard you laughing And almost say Pull you mirrors down, Run back to the house And let the past be gone Far from this, Lily dreams on

I just read this thread for the first time (thanks to jambled for bumping it up).
We were talking about this song in the Episode soundtrack folder, but thought I'd post it here, too:
Song: "Rock a Little (Go Ahead Lily)" Album: Rock A Little Year: 1985 Artist: Stevie Nicks
Sometimes it rages... rock a little Even when it's calm... still rock a little Just like the sea... I rock a little Say it was just like me Still rock a little
Then you knew her... funny little dancer And you watched her all night long You were trying to learn from her teachers One thing that she wanted She would not be tangled up... in it
Hit it, It's about time, Lily Oh, I know Lily Rock a little Hit the stage ... Hit the stage Rock a little
She's home now; She says I've gone far beyond that song She says rock and roll ballerina Where else would she go? He knows his daughter, says Where does she live? He says, Oh, up there somewhere
Then he says, Go ahead, Lily Hit it, Hit the stage, dancin'... go on Hit it... Well, I know Lily It's about time, Lily Hit it
Well, I know Lily (bis) It's about time, lily Hit it Hit the stage Hit it
Lots of them And all one of a kind But the most important thing was What was on her mind Pale ... pink ... satin ... worn out in a week But you loved you the most And you said...
Go ahead, Lily Hit it No explanations and I tell you no You say... Nothing That is how songs are written Stories are told, rumours are started
That is how songs are written Stories are told, rumours are started
Go ahead, Lily (ter) Hit it It's about time lily Hit the stage, dancin' I know, lily Hit it Hit the stage
(Thanks originally to frenchfan for transcribing the lyrics)

It's funny the lyrics do read that way, jambled, but the song is actually slow-rock-ish ... a funny irony.

Frank Sinatra's very old song. Song : Lilly belle Recorded: May 16, 1945 Album : the best of Frank sinatra Lilly BelleWho's got eyes that sparkle like a lily sprinkled with dew? Lily Belle. Who's got lips that's fresh as autumn rain when summer is through? Lily Belle. <Would you like a sunbeam on a rainy day> <You can catch a sunbeam when she smiles your way.> And who's got all the leaves that flutter so they're ready to fall, Lily Belle. Birdies take one look at her, and stop their singing to call, "my, you're swell." Oh and incidentally, there's one more thing to tell, If your eyes are open and you think you're seeing a dream, it's <Lily Belle>. (Who's got eyes that sparkle at you?), Lily Belle. (Who's got lips that's an autumn dew?), Lily Belle. Would you like a sunbeam (a sunbeam) on a rainy day (on a rainy day) You can catch a sunbeam <when she smiles your way>. (Who's got all the leaves that are ready to fall? Lily Belle) Birdies take one look at her, and stopped their singing to call, ("My, you're swell!") Oh and incidentally, there's one more thing to tell (do tell), If your eyes are open and you think you're seeing a dream, it's <Lily Belle>.

Some days ago I didn't know this artist and this song. I like it, especially the melody because I don’t manage to seize the words (2 words on 10 only ). Somebody can help me and give me the sense of the song (I read Danny's songs are very poetic). But impossible to find the text. Please Song : Peace Lilly Artist : Danny Flanigan and the rain chorus Album : Greathouse 1995 The song : HereSite about danny : Here and There

For Frenchfan Lyrics to Peace Lilly (After only listening through twice, so not sure these are exactly right; anyone can offer corrections to me lol!) It's a sweet song... Funeral of an aged woman who's lived a good life from what I can gather. Beautifully strummed guitar chords!
Gather up your purse Set aside your favourite suit The photo for your hair Leave the pair of matching shoes Now throw them all in the river You won't be needing these
Peace Lilly peace Lilly peace Rest in peace lilly peace lilly peace
diamonds to your daughter candlesticks and coins to your sons a bell to every grandchild jingle for hope a jangle for love now love is all that matters the rest of it is change
Peace Lilly peace Lilly peace Rest in peace lilly peace lilly peace Peace Lilly peace Lilly peace Rest in peace lilly peace lilly peace
So smile away the pain And laugh at it derails the tears That rot in step to comfort Pray away your last bitter fears And dance your way to heaven You've done all you can here
Peace Lilly peace Lilly peace Rest in peace lilly peace lilly peace Peace Lilly peace Lilly peace Rest in peace lilly peace lilly peace
