I thought this episode was very well done with a well-developed story, excellent directing, and the right amount of emotion. I have to agree with you here TVFan I thought this episode was great.
First of all, I really liked Emma. She was one of those victims that stays with you long after the closing credits. I liked the character too, although I wasn't emotional over her death like I have been in other episodes. I knew that the whole Kat-has-something-on-Wednesday-nights thing wasn't going to be what Vera thought, but I was a little surprised to see that she goes to her daughter's (?) dance practices/recitals. I'm glad it didn't end up being something traumatic because this show has enough drama. Vera's comments were priceless last night, and I loved the look on his face when he found out Kat's secret. Man, was he embarrassed! Kat's I-caught-you look was great as well. A great moment of the episode! And for once I even thought Scotty was great here. I loved the way he was in the back of the car and gave Kat the cheesy grin and wave, it really made me laugh!! Maybe now that this Kat thing is out of the bag , we'll get more Lilly. I hope so, anyway. I was a little nervous going into the episode about the amount of Lilly time but I found I wasn't disappointed. I feel she had plenty of the screen time. Loved her outfits too! Although I like Tracie Thoms and her character I'm still thinking the addition is unecessary. She really only did take lines that any other character could have said just as effectively. I agree with whoever said it seems just too unrealistic now to have so many detective working Cold Cases when in a huge city like Philly there are hundreds of homicides to solve. I did like that Lilly seemed to be setting herself up for an "I told you so" moment with her rush to judgment on Travis. I thought she was reverting to her usual quick-to-judge self, especially when we found out that his wife's death was an accident, but Lil ended up being half right. I do think that a lot of what he had to say to her seemed to resonate. She seemed a little thrown off by his comments back to her accusatory tones, which fit in perfectly with her overall state this season. She does seem to be evaluating a lot about herself, especially when people seem to point out some of her flaws. This little journey is really fascinating to me because we all go through self assessments and try to improve things that we don't like about ourselves. I liked how last night's scenes between Lilly and Travis seemed to play on this season-long idea. Totally agree with you here TVFan And about Lilly: GIVE US LILLY BAAACK! At least put her hair up again! It may be just me, but it seems like KM (or the "new" Lilly personality) is afraid to act out in fear of messing up her hair. She's barely moving her head, for crying out loud! *sigh*... It makes me laugh that people are still moaning about Lilly's hair. I wish people would give her a break. I've lost count of all the old posts that scream for Lilly to wear her hair down more. Now she has it down people want it back up!!! We are all entitled to our opinion and personally I LOVE her hair down. She still has her dark roots showing and in this episode; it was simple tucked behind her ears and I'd say it was far from tidy. My hair is the same length and I wear it down nearly every day for work. Final note - geez it really sucks that there isn't gonna be a new ep for 4 weeks or more. I think I'll cope but it will be hard!!

Well, wow. Thanks so much Sonny and TVFan. I don't have to say anything about this episode, because everything I would have said - you guys already discussed!
Haha!
But (I can't resist) I will say that I LOVED the "guys" in this episode. They were great. And the scene in the montage when Vera realized what Kat really was doing wednesday nights......PRICELESS
It was such an awesome way to go with that whole "bit"
And Sonny - I KNOW! How will I survive without new episodes??

Good evening everyone, Hello, it's the Byrdman again just coming at you tonight. I hope that everyone is rocking into their Mondays, just like me! This ep's music was awesome, and from a great year for it - 1968! Granted, we did not get any Beatles, but the songs they picked were cool too. I really think this was Tracie Thoms' first appearance in the opening credits. And also, has anyone noticed CC's usage of numerous historical events in some of their shows? The radio broadcast of the death of the Rosenbergs in "Red Glare", Dr. Martin Luther King's "I Have A Dream" speech" in "Strange Fruit", and last night I noticed Richard Nixon's first oath of office in 1969 too. Just something I've noticed.

I think it's cool how they include things like that.

Hi Soccerulz, Hey, girl! How are you doing tonight? I hope that you are a rocking girl this week! Hey, that is okay about missing Tracie. I just caught her while running back through the episode myself. You're not the only one who originally missed it. Thanks for the agreement on the historical events as well, girl. I was hopeful someone else noticed them besides me too. Man, I can just imagine how much it must cost to use those actual historical clips, and added with the song budget - wow! Bu anyway, thanks for getting back with me, girl. It's great to hear from you as always. Take care, and please keep being a rocking girl too!

Well--there isn't much left to say. Sonny and TVFan have pretty much expressed everything that was going through my mind as I watched the ep. I did NOT think there was a lack of Lilly in this ep--not EVERY episode has to have a major Lilly breakthrough after all, remember the "crumb" theory--and I absolutely loved the guys!!! Vera was so mortified in the end, it just made me laugh out loud. That was awesome. Bet he goes home and writes it down as "most humiliating moment" or something. :smile81: :smile81: :smile81: :smile81:
For some reason, Kat Miller doesn't bother me at all. Maybe she's only saying lines someone else could say just as well, but it doesn't bug me. I feel that she has her own place in the show, and it's ok. And I LOVE that her Wed thing was something as simple as taking her kid to ballet. How normal is that? Finally someone with a decent home life that won't take up drama space!
The murder scene was incredibly weak. But the rest of the episode made up for it. And the ending montage was the best this season, IMO. The music, images, shots--everything just fit.
You guys were right. It IS like a season 1 episode. The kind that leaves me happy and satisfied and in love with CC again.

Glad you enjoyed the ep freaky! I was starting to get concerned at your unhappiness of the season so far. Hopefully this ep has restored some of the faith you have in the show. :smile41:

It's from "Breakfast at Tiffany's" (1961) (not a Disney cartoon) , music by Henri Mancini, words Johnny Mercer - won an Acadamy Award for Best original song. Audrey Heburn sang it. But perhaps it's even better known by some people in the version Frank Sinatra recorded later.
