the detectives used to see the victims all the time and that hasn't been happening lately I have said the same thing before... I thought It would change but now We have had 10 episodes and in only one the victim is seen by a detective... What bothers me more is that sometimes the person who sees the victim is not the appropiate In True Calling, Glory Days and WW: They were Ok since the people who saw the victim were either best friends or someone the victim was trying to help Roller Girl: I think the mom had to see the girl Shore Leave: It was OK. The love of his life The dealer: It had to be Lilly and the daugther(2 people can see the victim like in 5.14 Andy in C Minor) One small step: It was ok it was the old detective but Vera had to see Seth's ghost that was never shown Triple Threat: Vera, It had to be Vera Pin Up Girl: It was ok It was Monty since he supported her Street Money: It had to be Lilly! I mean, It is always more accurate friends/family see the victim but only 1 detective watched a victim this season??? That's rough!

I agree it's much more common than in early days (and notice we hardly ever see victims in the storage room anymore? Did they finally get an exorcist to clean that place out or something?) I wouldn't exactly say I was mad about it though. I kinda wish Dex's father had just turned around and seen him too though. Some other thoughts I had after finally seeing the episode today: -Vera hitting on Frankie? Creepy much? And what the hell happened to Toni? The fact that Scotty was amused at this rather than troubled suggests Verand Toni split up again. But after they went to the trouble of showing Vera win her back last year, it would be really annoying if they'd just dropped her and Andre altogether. -It's hard to know yet what to make of our new ADA, played by Jonathan LaPlagia. You've probably seen him in a few things before and know his big brother Anthony from "Without a Trace". The character actually reminds me of a similar character named Miriam Grasso on the wonderful but short-lived series "Murder One" years back: Both were prosecutors who appeared distracted, disorganized, and befuddled, but you quickly see that underneath all that is a sharp mind and the power to nail perps to the wall. (Seriously, if you can find the first season DVD, it's worth getting. I promise.) -Speaking of perps, did any "NYPD Blue" fans recognize James McBride (Officer Shannon) as the perp who falsley claimed the gun was stolen? -Bill Duke and Keith Szarabajka as Councilman Boone and Dep. Commissioner Doherty. Duke's got a ton of credits including playing one of Ah-nold's soldiers who winds up being an alien's gruesome trophy in the original "Predator". Szarabajka was just in "The Dark Knight" playing a detective who gets goaded into teaching the Joker "a lesson" in the interview room. "Angel" fans might also remember him as the ruthless vampire hunter Daniel Holtz (which happens to the be the name of the victim in season one's "A Time to Hate". Coincidence?) -Speaking of which, I noticed that Boone and Doherty are still doing business as usual at the end of the episode. This is a bit of a contrast, given the show usually gives bad people their comeuppance in the end, even if they're not the doer. I guess it just shows that the Boones and Dohertys of the world will always be out there. Still, it would be interesting if we found they caused trouble for Stillman down the road, if only to see him bite back. -I know people were comparing Dex to Obama and I understand the parallels are there, but honesly, that wasn't going through my mind while I watched it. What can I say? -I'm pretty sure stuff got cut from this episode. There was a woman mentioned in the character descriptions in the spoiler thread named Josephine who was eliminated completely and Jorge, the guy picked out of the line-up, had some lines as well (the actor was listed on IMDB as Jorge '05/'08, suggesting he originally had or was in a flashback himself). Unfortunately, until they get around to some damn DVD sets, we'll probably never see them! -All in all, an okay episode. Not phenomenal, but pretty good.

I know it's the premise of the show, to use one tip off that leads to another and then another until they piece it all together to catch the 'doer', but often the initial clue pre credits ends up having nothing to do with the initial outcome at all and in this case I get confused.
The guy in jail knows where the gun is hidden (up a drainpipe), but the impression given is that he knows this because he heard it on the prison grapevine from one of the street dealers who was presumably banged up sometime after the murder.
This gave the indication at first that the 'doer' was a drug dealer not happy with Dexter's campaign to clean up the streets. Yet ultimately, the murder had nothing to do with the dealers, it was done by the deli owner.
So if the deli owner hid the gun up the drainpipe, how do the street dealers and in turn the guy in jail at the start know about the gun/ Did I miss something?

The guy probably saw him stick the gun up the drainpiped, figured with this information he could get reduced time in jail.

Didn't care for this episode, probably because it has to do with politics and lately, I haven't really liked politics. Never thought about Obama. But I did think it was either Boone or Doherty who did it just cause they seemed to be together all the time. The ADA was funny as Kat had the best looks of annoyance. Not much of Jefferies or Vera. Loved how Vera tried to hit on Frankie. Loved Stillman's talk with Boone but funny how Doherty ran off..
