Shoe discussion was in "True Calling." Lilly and Scotty were in the car waiting for a suspect and Saccardo sent her a text. Scotty responded by snarking on the fact that Saccardo wears Timberland boots. It was one of those "blink and you miss it" sort of moments.

"Excellent" from me as well. As anneinchicago pointed out, the Betty Sue / Betty Page parallels were just absolutely fabulous. I'm a sucker for those episodes where they pointedly and deliberately build a character around a pre-existing figure in history (case in point, Bingo Zohar from "Devil Music"; love or hate the episode, I loved the Elvis vibe through the whole thing, and I loved the Betty Page shout-outs throughout this one too). (...) Bettie Page, pin-up legend of the 50s, died at the age of 85 on December 11th 2008, just a few days ago. May she rest in peace.

Thought it was good and it was cool to see stuff from the '50's. I never thought it was the friend who was the murderer. That's sad. I loved Vera hiding in the conference room doing 'research' the episode seemed kinda boring with out him. Wonder if Stillman allowed Vera to do research of not.

I enjoyed this episode for several reasons. One, it was in the 1950's and I enjoy the older cases a lot but also because it fleshed out Rita's character. Rather than have her be just a pretty face, they show her as someone who had the guts to do what she wanted, who always tried to see the good in other people, and was always positive when looking towards the future. I also enjoyed this episode for another reason. Yes, the jealous best friend is a cliche on Cold Case but in this episode it makes the most sense and also sadly reflects real life. Like other posters here, I too have struggled at times in my life while close friends have appeared to be able to just breeze through life with luck on their side. What we don't see (and Betty didn't know) is that in many cases, they still struggle just like us and encounter road blocks. Rita may have gotten her photography gig,but she also learned that the person she wanted to marry was a really a cruel jealous jerk. What made a difference is the fact she could remain opmistic, and that's how they can seem to just breeze through life.

I just got around to watching this episode for the first time and I thought it was so well done. I knew who the killer was in the opening scene and I figured out the photographer name quickly, but those were minor details. The Art Direction for this episode was among the best. It was so dramatic, moving, really stayed with you. The sequence where she was taking pictures was so well done. I love the song choices, especially the final Can't I by Nat King Cole. The actresses who played Rita and Betty (young and old) were superb. They had the 50s really down well.

I think for me the best part of the whole episode was the ending moments between Betty and Rita. "Things can change for you. I started right where you did." "That's what hurts the most." Really, REALLY great acting by both parties there, because you really felt that pain Betty was feeling, knowing that they both had the same dreams and aspirations and came from the same lowly place, but yet Rita was famous and rich (she is living well for a single woman in 1953) while Betty was reduced to stripping. That last line just gets me...."that's what hurts the most." It's knowing that your friends are successful and popular while you're not that can be the worst pain of all sometimes. Been watching old episodes of Cold Case on Start TV and I have to say that after watching this one again that this is one of the best episodes from the later years and the final scene with Betty Sue and Rita is one of the best between doer and victim of the series. Unlike some of the other episodes where heat of the moment killings came out of nowhere or aren't built up well, you can see from the first clip onward how unhappy Betty Sue was in her life at the time while everything was coming up roses for Rita. Thus it wasn't shocking at all in the final scene to see Betty Sue in a drunken rage do what she did. Solid episode and ranks right up there among the best of Season 6.
