I think I forgot to say as well that I loved the music. I love 60's/oldies music. Bubblegum pop makes me happy:) And I wasn't born till the early 80's and I knew all the songs.

It's the sort of thing I tend to let slide "for the sake of the story" but I was surprised by the idea that details such as the lack of water in the lungs (a sign of being dead before being in the water) and the burns on the temples were ignored in the original investigation. The proof of Sam not drowning is surely enough to bring suicide in to question as an cause of death.
I guessed that the burns were the result of ECT treatment straightaway. But then I also had Janey Davis (Elisabeth Harnois) down as the "do'er" due to the old "I recognise him/her" rule.
As LK says I hope that John taking his suspension is enough to get Scotty to stop his hot-headed ways.

Yeah, the explanation I gave my inquisitive mind was, "Well, they weren't interested in digging too deep". It seemed to pacify.

I thought this ep was pretty good. Not one of the best, but definitly not one of the worst. The case was just sort of weird to me. I liked it overall though, and the songs were good, as well as who all they interviewed, and then who actually ended up being the doer. And it killed me when Stillman left. And the way he fought for Scotty was too awesome. But the look on Lilly's face @ the end @ him is what got to me. I wonder if she feels a tad bit guilty about it any....? All ep a thumbs-UP though

Did anyone besides me pick up on what Stillman said about his 30-day suspension? Just from John Finn's acting and the words....it seems a bit of foreshadowing for Cold Case's future....seems like Stillman might be leaving us next season and passing on the torch?

I know he seemed sorta "why give a care if it's me leaving" sort of attitude? I was like ARE YOU NUTS?!?! If any of the cast left I would die! Lilly would be lost without him too and you know it!

Ok, I'm pretty new here so I wanted to ask something cause I didn't pay attention to this episode till the last 15 minutes When Sam had her shirt ripped open, did they discovered that she had boobs? and did that happen before or after she got beat up by the guys in the classroom? what did she and her dad talk about in the principle office? too much questions? I know ;D

Hi noob21 I can answer your first question. It was my impression when they opened her blouse they saw her breasts. However I don't feel her breasts were taped down. That's just my impression because I didn't think Sam was trying to hide her sexuality - she just dressed differently. socceros! That episode you refer is from early Season 3 - "Committed" which was an excellent episode and another example of our failed mental health community in this world. Another episode that gave Eltro Convulsive Therapy was Season 1's "Boy In The Box". I can't remember if the doctor was still alive.... FIRST POST I thought the episode was really great but the hospital part reminded me of that episode with the woman in the mental institution where they gave her a lobotmoy (SP?) I forgot what it was called. In that episode the main doctor that was responsible for the victims death, died before he could be held accountable for his actions, so in light of that episode I was hoping that this doctor would have been held responsible. Did anyone else notice that they never showed who disposed of Sams body in the river? They just showed Dom smothering her with a pillow but never how her body got in the river?

Welcome vavavoomya! I couldn't agree more with you. It seems like CC is the only show (especially crime drama) that manages to tell stories from a wide range of issues with a very understanding, sensitive touch. It really is something to applaud.

This is my favorite episode ever! You don't know how much I can relate with Sam. It was sad it had to end like that.
I don't think Sam was 'confused'. I think she was a girl who like boys clothing and was a rebel. Some things I noticed in that episode was:
-That weird look on her face when she got a note from a girl. -Red felt her cheast so she wasn't trying to hide the fact that she's physically a girl. -How she insulted back at Janie for calling her 'Butch' and 'Lesbo' (though I know it's meant to be derogitory)
I love the late 50s early 60s music. I was suprised when the had 2 Frankie Vallie and The Four Seasons songs.

Hello exene Yes, I totally agree Sam was not into girls but dressed like a boy. Just goes to show we can't judge others - we are all individuals. ~Naj This is my favorite episode ever! I usually don't post in episode threads, but I finally got around to watching this episode, and... wow... that's basically all I can say. I guess my reactions just mirror a lot of yours.
On another note, the ending is reminiscent of the book One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.

I loved this episode. It was so sad. When Sam's Dad left and she was crying for him that she would be good, it just broke my heart. The tings they did to her there were awful. Forcing everyone to fit in some lipstick mold was awful, and all girls must be the same.
