To add...if memory serves correctly, Vera and Jeffries were talking to Art, and he all but said that he and maybe some of the other cops "took care of it," heavily implying that they had killed Roger. Vera and Jeffries declined to press charges, Jeffries saying that there wasn't any need to write that confession down, and Vera said something like, "I don't remember what he said anyhow." I think that's this episode...

I know that I am completely in the minority with this episode, but I was strangely disappointed by it. So many people had told me that this was their favourite, that it had made them cry, so when it came on, I was really looking forward to it. Yet I felt unmoved by almost all of it, although I did find the fact that Art 'took care of' the abusive father for Cindy and the girls, and then made it look like he was killed in the line of duty very interesting, poignant and clever. I was smiling when Jeffries and Vera "forgot about it," as I like the parts of Cold Case where the detectives bend the rules slightly for the greater good (for that reason, "Justice" is one of my favourite episodes). However, I wasn't really affected by the girl and mother being reunited at the end, although I don't know why.

This one remains my fave (with "Cargo" a close second). Partly it was Art's sincere efforts to protect Cindy and the girls. Part of it was also I really like Meredith Monroe in just about everything I've seen her in (yes, even "Dawson's Creek"). Few actresses cry as well as her, I think.

Bee, That's exactly what makes Cold Case special, That sometimes you like an episode and there is another person who did not like it... That's how it is... It's Cold Case... A Perfect Day got an excellent from me... I liked it but my season 3 favorites are Superstar and Dog Day Afternoons

This is a bit of a strange request but can anyone with HD or just a good picture read the nametag of Art's partner? It looks like "SALMA" but I can't see it too clearly. (It's for the wiki. I know, I know. )

This is one of the reasons I'm in love with 60's cases: This case was one of the most powerful we've ever had in the whole series. This case was what brought bright to the worse Cold Case season (3rd). It was compelling: with an excellent story, acting and directing. The combination Veena + Roxann Dawson gave us excellent results! Fanny flirting with Jeffries was so funny Art + Cindy=Romantic EXCELLENT!

Sorry, could anybody please tell me what hints were there exactly to indicate that Art killed Roger? I just saw the episode and I didn’t see anything implying that. If I understood correctly, when Art said to Cindy that he “would take care of Roger”, he was referring only to beating him up, not to killing him. But I am living in Italy and saw the episode in Italian, so maybe something was cut out in the local version or maybe the translation was not exact.

But I am living in Italy and saw the episode in Italian, so maybe something was cut out in the local version or maybe the translation was not exact. After hearing from Art that he knew Roger had found Cindy and the girls, Vera points out that Roger was killed in the line of duty a few months later, and that Art knew Roger's beat. (In case you don't speak english, his "beat" in this context means the area he patrols as a cop). Vera and Jeffries specifically choose to "forget" this part in their notes. As they leave, however, Art says, "If you ever find Cindy out there somewhere, would you tell her she doesn't need to be afraid of him anymore. Art took care of it."

I have to say the only part of this episode I didn't believe was that Cindy didn't hear about Roger's death until now. She wasn't that far from Philly and even without the 24/7 media coverage we have today, a killing of a police officer was big news. I just find it hard to believe she wouldn't have heard anything about his death for 40 years.

I just found a bit of a goof. When Roger drops Vivian from the bridge, you can see the hand of the crew member catching her: This was without a doubt my favorite episode, and played a big part in getting me to watch the show regularly. It's funny that even now, a few years later, I can still notice something I hadn't before

This and Churchgoing People are two of my favorite episodes. They both show the horror of domestic violence and shatter sterotypes about who does it. It also shows the long term effects it has on everyone involved. My only gripe in both episodes.... the perp was either dead or mentally unable to apperciate being caught for the crimes she committed.

I've seen this episode before and was going to watch it again but the DVR didn't record or I forgot to set it to record.
I thought this was a sad episode but liked how Vera and Jefferies didn't write down the confession about Roger's death. I wondered why his picture was taken down when I first saw this episode but after someone posting it, I understand now.
