I really liked this episode. Loved the music, so well-chosen, especially Town Without Pity, never thought of it as pertaining to gays, but appropriate.
I taped this episode and have rewateched it several times. There is a funny moment that you have to look for. At the part where the mother goes to light the candle shrine, when she starts to kneel down - watch Lilly's and Scotty's actions...they don't know what to do with their hands...fold them, put them behind their back...they swing them back and forth in confusion until they just let them fall straight. It doesn't sound funny, but when you watch the scene, it is and you know they must have been saying, "Hey, what do we do with our hands..." because the obvious reaction in that situation would be to fold them, but the director probably didn't give any direction.

This one really stuck on me. I watched it on CBS when it first aired and then again on TNT. I can't imagine going through what that poor guy went through.

I like how Lilly respects and handles the case well. She's good natured and understanding about Daniel Holtz's sexual orientation.
Vera had some really funny lines as well, I did cry a little at the end . The song Turn, turn turn by the Byrds was real fitting especially if you listen to lyrics.

I dont know why this episode is not commented at all by almost any fan being one of the Cold Case Classics
By far one of the best of this show... I have watched this one several times and It was 100% perfect. A very good victim/The victim's mom and lover were excellent. No confession but a witness helped to solve the case/the final song and montage were flawless. BEST OF THE SEASON BY FAR

I'm watching a Cold case marathon and I have just rewatched this one after 10 months of not watching it... I can't describe with words what I felt just that this is one of the top 5 episodes in the whole show! EXCELLENT!

No idea, why no one really commented about this episode. For me it is one of the best too. Excellent. yes. Liked the teasing of Vera, sending him for looking for Tinkerbell, it amused Scotty a lot, did you notice? Priceless Vera's look when Scotty said"You boys have fun tonight." But Scotty got some remark from Lilly too.
Loved the character of Tinkerbell (Bill Henderson). "You're a homocide detective?" (to Scotty) And "Because I was never a practical girl" ROFL. How sweet when Tinkerbell talked of becoming the cheerleader for the team, Daniel wanted to build.
Did notice something in the endmontage scene. When they show Lilly and Scotty walking three of the jerks, they show them in the alley in black&white and these three guys are only shown at the age they had doing the murder. Lilly turns and sees Daniel in a suit standing in the alley. Then they cut to Nelson (young/old), then to Hank, who sees himself even with Daniel, then to Daniels mother, back to Daniel, who now wears his baseball cap and the clothes he had on last. A lot of people are "seeing" the "ghost" of Daniel.

Hi myril *Yep, Vera & Jeffries were just funny...(Jeffries is also very proffesional) but that Scotty is a $"#"%. this episode is one of the reasons I've always hated him. He was so unprofessional(as always) with the case and how he could ask Tinkerbell he always wore women's clothes??? Is he stupid or what? (oh, yeah he is). * Yep, This is the only time 4 people have seen the victim. I think the reason for this is because so many people was attached to Daniel's murder(his mom, his lover/friend, The key witness and Lilly that was PROFESSIONAL during this case). Now writers don't dare to do that * This is only of those few eps where the killer does not confess, making it more realistic

He was so unprofessional(as always) with the case and how he could ask Tinkerbell he always wore women's clothes??? Is he stupid or what? (oh, yeah he is) LOL, I'm no Scotty fan for sure, he's just too young for my taste. But he was the newbie on the team at this time, think they did that well here. Though not in the most sensitive way, Scotty asked a question many might have had on mind watching it. Why did Tinkerbell expose herself so obviously despite knowing the risks? Why not hide as many others did and still do? I loved Tinkerbell's reaction, no "someone had to" phrase, but a humorous answer. Takes a lot to be such a merry person after experiencing so much hate and disgust on an everyday basis over so many years. Wasn't sure, if that's the sort of record episode for people seeing the victim at the end, but think you're right. Can't remember any other. It was fitting. You're right too about that this is one of the few episodes, in which we don't get a confession by the murderer. I didn't notice, how often they used the term "hate crime" in the episode, when I watched it the first time. It is interesting though, there is an ongoing discussion about including sexual orientation in the US federal hate-crime law (Matthew Shepard Act).

Thanks Myril...I don't want Scotty to be perfect but I mean, as a cop, he should have ever asked that... Going back to the episode...4 people seeing the victim at the end was so cool... Because sometimes I wish more than 1 people see them... Like in True Calling, Darnell and Renaldo both deserved to see Laura and the fact that we did not have a confession made it better

I liked this episode and I don't know how long Scotty has been in the police department but he sure is a wise a--.
I liked the banter between the four detectives.
