No problem byrdman! I think we have threads for every episode burried in here somewhere believe it or not! I'm excited to see this one again because I love that scene where Lilly stays all night as well. Classic Lilly!

This is my second time seeing this episode and I've noticed a few things. First, the creaters were definitely testing things out. This time, you see the death happen right away. "Look Again" and "Gleen" experimented with things that would later become more routine items. In "Gleen", you see Dana's ghost a lot longer. The secondary characters did not get a final showing like in future episodes. The first two episodes had the killer taken away and close characters watching. Future episodes would show characters everywhere going about their daily lives. The first few episodes really tried neat things to see if they worked. For the most part, you see the ghost at the end briefly but occasionally, you see it in a different way. This episode was great for an early one. I like all of the episodes, but some more than others. Have you guys noticed how they held back on flashing back images of people in the pilot and how more often they flashed the people in Gleen. It seemed more routine in the second episode.
To Byrdman: The episode seems intact to me. The episode did not cut to commercials the same way it did on CBS. There's one scene I'm hesitant to say for certain if it was intact, but I can say with confidence that this one is intact. I won't be able to tell for certain in "Our Boy Is Back" when it airs because I don't remember most of that one as well. But "Gleen" looked uncut to me.

I agree, R2k. It's a really well done episode for only being the second one in. I love that flashback they do when they show the older version of Gwen holding the lineman's telephone. The camera quickly pans up and she turns into the 5-year-old version of herself, and delivers a line of dialog. It's very effective, almost startling.
I also like the way they weren't afraid to bring in "outside cops" and make them interesting. Like the sorta goofy bomb expert that Lilly calls up to help her look in the crawlspace of the house. He's got alot of screen time and he actually seems like a well-developed "3-dimensional" character. Not like the future Frannies and Anna Maes who sort of pop in to deliver information then leave.
One thing I don't like is how TNT is cutting the commercial breaks differently than their original CBS runs. If TNT wants to stick a commercial in right after a scene that wasn't originally a true commercial break, they have to cut a second or two off the ending of the scene so they can do a quick fade out. It looks too abrupt, and kinda reflects bad on the CC editors (when it's TNT's fault.)

I agree irishkale. It's very annoying, but I guess I'll have to live with it since no DVDs in the near future. I'm recording and keeping these episodes just in case.

But you can tell TNT cuts off a few seconds before the commercial break because the music (if any) gets cut off abrubtly too. The only good thing is that it's easier to edit out the commercials because there aren't as many.. I'm trying to save these on my computer too. But for this being my first time watching season one... so far the episodes have had a great storyline. Very intriguing... and so different from the later seasons. I really like season one... probably most of all!!

TVFan: You were talking about this scene long ago? ;D She has this 'I done it' grin! Anyway, I noticed her hair being down this episode too! Her hair is layered.. a lot!! That's why KM's hair looks so different in season three... she lost all those layers.

That's totally the scene foxfire!! I just love that look on her face because she's so proud of herself! It's adorable, and truly one of my favorite Lilly moments. Thanks for the great screencaps! :smile39:

Dear R2K, Good evening, bud! How are you tonight? I hope that you are rocking and rolling through the start of another great weekend. Thanks so much for filling me in on the ep "Gleen." I appreciated your input very much, and I'm sorry that it has taken so long to get back with you. So, their commercial breaks are different than CBS'? Interesting, if not strange. I still have not seen it yet (busy week - again!), but it is on my dvd recorder edited down for whenever I get a little free time this weekend. Thanks again for getting back on this, R2K. So, did you see "Churchgoing People" when it first debuted? If so, could you watch that and let me know if it is uncut or not? Thanks, man. Take care, and please have a great night, R2K.

Hey there Byrdman,
I am extremely tired. Third graders will do that. One girl gave another a wedgy and I sent out poor work notices to every parent. I'm getting ready to go to bed right now. Since seeing the pilot, I have now seen every episode. I remember Churchgoing People very well. I'll watch it closely. That one won't air for another week though. "Our Boy is Back" was the third episode in the original run. I remember that one as well. As I said before, the episodes look intact. If anything has been cut, it is extremely small and probably will go unnoticed.

Hey R2K,
Good day to you, and thanks for getting back with me on this thread.
Wow! It sounds like your third graders are wearing you out. Kids can do that, I have heard, and I'm sorry that you're so worn out. Are you going to take it easy this weekend?
Thanks so much for watching Churchgoing People and Our Boy is Back for me, bud. Your input is much appreciated here. I'm just trying to make the 1st season experience a total and complete surprise for myself, and I thank you for your close watch of these eps for me.
I will look forward to hearing from you on Our Boy is Back around midweek, and thanks again for your attention here, R2K. I will see you in the chat tomorrow night, and take care, bud.

Wow. I watched this episode last night for the very first time--dubbed to spanish. Of course the dubbing was hideous (actually, it could've been worse--I almost forgot it was dubbed at one point, I was so caught up in the story) but the story completely blew me away. Oops, sorry--no pun intended ;D. I thought I'd watched it first time around but apparently I didn't--it just looked really unfamiliar to me. These early CC episodes are gems. Lilly is so different! She's tough and cynical and dedicated--seems YEARS younger. And I don't mean 2 years. It's like she has really aged--not physically, but emotionally this past season. Not sure I like the change so much. I know characters must evolve, and, well, any sort of Lilly is good, but I kind of miss her season 1 feistiness.
EDITED TO ADD: Another thing I liked about this and all early episodes I've had the pleasure to rewatch, is their slower pace. It's like the writers take them time to really develop stories, not just plump the most unlikely doer on your lap. Everything makes sense--clues come out little by little. It's refreshing to watch.

Hey, I just saw on Cold Case's TNT site that this ep is set to reair on Tuesday, March 28 at 10:05 pm (central time) on channel 245 (TNT on DirecTV). I hope that everyone will get to watch this, I thought it was a great ep. Take care, and have a rocking night, everyone!

They probably won't start the second season until the Fall LII. It has to do with contracts and number of episodes.
