I was torn between OK and Good but went with OK, I wasn't entirely taken with it. Perhaps the all the American Football stuff threw me because I know nothing about it. As far the "Eddie" stuff is concerned the "hoagie" and "elevator" scene had me wondering what might have happened after the first bar scene. Nothing happened right? Right!?! I can't say I'm too keen on Eddie but anything that can make Lilly look like this can't be too bad: If only she always looked like that Lots of lovely Lilly smiles ;D For more see the screencaps thread.

I loved this ep. Ok I loved all the Bobby Cannavale scenes. I love that Lilly is quite smitten with him. It's fun to see Lilly smile and enjoy being flirty and all that.
Vera always cracks me up. His comment to Lilly about speaking English was hilarious. And calling Kat his assitant was funny too.
The case was ok. I wasn't it following it that much because I kept waiting for that sexy Bobby Cannavale to grace the screen. Lol.

I gave this one a good. The story was pretty solid and I really enjoyed the lighter, personal moments involving the main characters.
As is usually the case with Hollywood, there was the typical spattering of cliches: steroids, boosters, dumb jocks, etc., but I thought the story was strong enough to overcome them. I liked the way this episode showed the dark side to steroids -- from Breeze's career-ending kidney issues to Mike's liver damage. As the episode pointed out, nobody really knew what steroids would do to the body back in 1973. I also liked the true-to-life portrayal of the die-hard fans who, as those awesome ESPN-U ads say, never graduate. I'm one of them, so I get it. And having just spent the weekend at my alma mater, I can assure you that I am not alone. My one complaint about the outing was a minor less-than-realistic moment when Lilly and Scotty threatened the murdering booster with bringing the "witness" in to ID him. Clearly, the man has changed a bit in the last 35 years and even if the "witness" had seen the driver's face, he never could have IDed him now (I know, they were simply trying to goad the guy into confessing, but still).
We found out that not only did Jeffries play high school ball, but he was known as "The Tombstone" because, as a linebacker, he knocked everyone into the ground. Go Jeffries! I really liked the way his knowledge and experience came into play with the case. It was seamless and made sense. The show is off to a good start with blending personal into the cases this season.
I've been a bit lukewarm on the Saccardo character because of the way he burst onto the scene. He was better in the finale and I even felt a few sparks between him and Lil. I thought this week's scenes were much better than last season. Lilly was actually flirting with him at the bar! And did I see her make the first move? Just watching her let loose, go after someone she's attracted to (instead of constantly being the chasee) and take time for herself outside of work is really enough to make this story work for me. I'm not sold that Saccardo is a good match for her, but I'm at least interested to see what happens between the two and that's more than I was last season.
Overall, a solid start.
irishkale - I noticed the Veena omission this week. Also, Jennifer Johnson was doing all of the pre-season print interviews in EW. They even credited her as "Executive Producer." I thought that was odd as well. Perhaps, a shake-up at the top?

I agree TVFan with your assesment on Lilly and Eddie. It was great to see her take a chance and go for it. And be all smiling and flirty. Good stuff. I don't know if Lilly and Eddie will go anywhere but it's exciting to see this side of Lilly that Eddie brings out.

I don't know if Lilly and Eddie will go anywhere but it's exciting to see this side of Lilly that Eddie brings out. It was hinted at in the episode (in the lift scene) Eddie may not be around for too long. Lilly was surprised and disappointed. I wonder if this will spur Lilly on to go for it in case he leaves, getting the most out of it knowing that she might not be committing to a longer term thing. Anyway, it looks like we are in for lots of Lilly smiling and that means it will be a good season in my book ;D

I have just watched this one and I like it! I voted for excellent I have watched 110 out of 112 broadcasted Cold Case episodes and I liked this premier so much! At first, Usually Premiers never get my favoritism...but this one along with THRILL KILL and RAMPAGE was awesome! I liked all the characters and murder scene... the detectives were ok... I did not like much the music but It's because I do not like 70's music... oh! Cold Case is so important in my life that I feel I'm living back again =) I hope this season gives us back all the things we love about Cold Case, even if it's true the show is not as in S1 and S2, Everything changes... and this one was very good for me
HOW COME VEENA IS NOT PART OF THE COLD CASE STAFF?

very very very bad pacing... I found that the case was good and the personal stuff very fun but overall the episode didn't work for me as much as it should have. On a detailed level, every scenes had something to enjoy but on the big picture, something didn't felt right. I couldn't pinpoint what and I now totally agree with the bad pacing ! So CC did basketball, baseball and tennis, now football... what sport will be next ? Hockey for Vera ? ;D The good for me: - the 70s, yay !!! It was about time. - nice continuity: Jeffries and his football career stopped by a knee injury; Scotty who still knows everything about cars - a non linear investigation: they were following several leads at the same time - original little details: a case box that was spoiled (kinda like the football sport); an interviewee that, for once, instantly lawyered up; the digging in the DMV files; a PhillyPD that seems more lively than ever - the very likeable victim - Vera's humour - the Jones' tavern scenes: I liked Saccardo there... and yes, Lilly did make the first move! The also good with a but: - the closing montage: at first I was taken aback by the tone of the song but it was a welcome mood change. The apparition to Breeze and the essay given to the mother were touching, I always fall for this stuff. - Lilly's smiling plenty. I tried to remember when was the last time she genuinely smiled and I couldn't, so that can only be good. But I can't help feeling a little bit robbed from the fallout of the season 4 finale. I rated it "Good" because I think it's a good evolution of the show and they just need to tune the injection of the personal stuff. Steve Pratt, lead pipe, football field. Vera's new haircut looks great... I have noticed too Vera and Stillman change of hair... did they try to take the attention away from Lilly's hair ? I've always found Lilly beautiful (like Elisa ) whatever the hair but I'll have to say that they now look perfect... no dark roots, nice side bangs, and cute ponytail. And...what the heck happened to the promo pictures? A couple of those promo shots I've been analyzing to death simply didn't happen. What gives? I feel cheated. The one with Lilly, Scotty and Kat ? It almost convinced me that the LS shippers were right all along We found out that not only did Jeffries play high school ball, but he was known as "The Tombstone" because, as a linebacker, he knocked everyone into the ground. Thanks for explaining ! I couldn't understand what Al said and therefore didn't get what was so funny about the nickname. As far the "Eddie" stuff is concerned the "hoagie" and "elevator" scene had me wondering what might have happened after the first bar scene. Nothing happened right? Right!?! I think Eddie did get to "see the girls". But that's just my personal opinion

an interviewee that, for once, instantly lawyered up; I'm glad you mentioned that, Zoe! How could I have forgotten Scotty's reaction? I think that little scene may be one of his all-time best for me.

Like Collider described it already, the episode had a rushed feeling. On second thought, considering it was about football and how watching my first football game some years ago made me feel - there was a lot going on on the field, a busy to and fro and I had a big problem to see and understand the big picture of the game. Hmmm. Sounds like this episode, LOL.
Noticed too that PhillyPD has become a very lively place in this episode.
And I so loved Kat's look when Vera called her in the phone call his assistent. ROFL Guess that's the one scene I will remember this episode by.
And we had a bit of team moment outside the office in the bar. Thanks for that.
All in all a sort of casual start for a new season, but a good episode. The case was not overly interesting (for me) but had some nice moments, the team had their moments, we saw a smiling Lilly. Let's see what they will make of it in the next episodes.

About Pex instantly lawying up, kind of reminded me of the episode" Slipping" when Scotty was trying to get Rachel to talk; but he also tried to do this in this one also. But with both Lilly just smiled and slipped her card to him.

It had some of that season 1,2 feel about it. good stuff That's right! I also had a s1, s2 feeling about it I rewatched this one yesterday and this was what we call in my country a "gallo tapao'" (a surprise). Now that I rewatched it... It's one of my all time favorites -Excellent victim... I like the way he was: He wasn't perfect but was a person with good feelings (and he was HOT!!!) -This guy, Boreki, I think he was in love with McShane and McShane kind of knew it but he needed Boreki to pass(even if in the end he got a B+ by himself). why? because in the cafeteria scene when McShane looked at the sexy Cynthia, Boreki had a "jeaulosy" face. Why they didn't mention this to Boreki-2008? Because he now is a known professor... But yes, he loved McShane and not as a friend. -I think that season premieres shouldn't have too much action -The murder scene is one of the best I've ever seen The dialogue "You're a benchwarmer" "Your boys think you're a joke" -Steve Prat... Poor guy. I understands him because he was living in the past and he couldn't really go on. -McShane's mom was so cute! Poor lady! Lost her son -The first time you see this episode you really don't know who could be the killer: That's good -I have to modify my all time fav episodes

I actually knew who was the killer from the beginning, so that was a no-brainer for me. I still love the Lillyardo scenes, too bad that this relationship had to end.

I loved when Lilly first saw him in the hallway, how her heart probably skipped a few beats. The Episode wasn't my favorite, or the best of S6.

It's not my ultra favorite either but It's always to cath reruns. It's not because of a personal issue but the Boreki character was very well drawn. I mean, They didn't have to specify his feelings for McShane but let the viewers guess... I thought so the first time but now that I watched it again It's clear that he loved(in a non-friends way) McShane

I'm sorry, but I don't think Borecki was in love with Mike. I think that's a bit of a stretch to make, especially since there's no supporting evidence of that.

It does not mean It's the absolute truth or something. Maybe yes, Maybe not. If yes or no, that would not lead to solve McShane's murder
