By the way did anyone find that giving the name Damon Childress to the artistic/goth/creepified/introverted kid was a bit much also? The surname of Childress seems to refer to an orphanage, or to one that owns an orphanage. Interestingly enough another form of Childress is Childres said to be the previous old spelling of "Children" Damon means "One who tames/subdues" Damon Childress = One who subdues children. Yes, I have too much time on my hands! Please to be giving me cookies now!

So, throw your tomatoes and bring out the whips. My concern is that you said all that just so we get the whips out

LOL--as they say "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but whips and chains excite me!" I stand by my rant! I'm glad no one pretends to agree with me. Makes this board much more fun. Tomato juice anyone?

LOL--as they say "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but whips and chains excite me!" Good for you Good for you. I wasn't pretending to agree with you. As you know we certainly agree on certain things, if, perhaps, from a different perspective I don't disagree with you on those issues michelle, it's just in the context of a show you have to let certain things go by. Think about the number high profile cases they are involved in every year. In reality a cop might deal with one such case in their entire career.

Hmmm ... interesting both michelle and TVFan felt the Scotty tie-in (re: brother's sexual abuse) to the case was overplayed. Since it was only introduced this season, it seems like a shorter-than-usual turnaround for it to feel like it was too much. But, perhaps because of the nature of the subject matter, less should really be more. I still liked it - especially since it did make Scotty sort of the superhero-to-save-the-day, which he doesn't really get to do all that much. Perhaps he misplaced his cape on the roof? LOL! (Even though I can overlook some of the sappy, overdone, improbabilities that tend to make up cop shows, I can still poke fun!) In any event, I can relate to the overplayed feeling as the whole Lilly-worst-mom-ever routine is starting to fall on deaf ears for me. Let's move PAST that, shall we Lil'?

In general how often does Lilly's mother-fracas really come up? It is clearly a long running saga but it isn't as though we see Lilly, head in hands, weeping about it every week.
I many cases she uses her own experiences to empathise with the people involved, as we'd all do. Yes, when a witness says something about a mother/child issue when the shot cuts to Lil' she's reacting. It is only a brief flicker across her face, a very quick visual reaction. Again, we'd all do the same.

(Sorry, couldn't resist). ;D ;D ;D ;D Well played, michelle! @ RichE: It's true that we don't have Lilly wandering around, weeping about mom every week ... but for me, when the issue does come up (usually through a case - either victim or suspect), she always seems to say/express/feel the same thing annoyance/disgust/irritation, etc. So, for me, this feels like it's recycling the same ol', same ol' ... and it's this routine I'm growing tired of. I'd like to see the whole Lilly/mom storyline begin moving in another direction - which perhaps may occur in the final eps of Season 4.

I hate to rehash this, but maybe Lilly is still stuffering from the abuse from her mother. She wants to let it go but it's just too painful for her.
Lilly sees herself in two ways; The Adult and the lonely sad child she was, maybe that explains the reason why she looks into the mirror a lot during these cases. Maybe it symbolizes an upcoming personal change or forshadowing something bad, who knows?
Scotty does this too, especially in this episode. His inner emotions are raging after what had happened to his own brother. But did anyone catch Stillman's reaction during the first scene with requards to Scotty's comments; I think he knows what he had done.

In these shows most characters have a particular trait, a trigger, that's Lilly's. There's always that "oh, oh, suchandsuch is not going to like this" moment. Her job is to protect and get justice for victims, as she her self once was. You can understand her dislike of people that she feels are the perpetrators of such crimes. It's a shame that it bothers you so. I'm not saying we couldn't do with a change though... It does sound like there might be something like that. I hate to rehash this, but maybe Lilly is still stuffering from the abuse from her mother. She wants to let it go but it's just too painful for her. I'm sure we all have issues with certain people. Not always rational, and we know it would probably be better to let it go, but where's the fun in that? We need an outlet/target (even if it is just thoughts) for such feelings. He may do, though I took it to be as much about him thinking that Scotty was not acting professionally. He has a duty to treat all victims as people worthy of justice, even if there are other reasons that they themselves should be on the receiving end of some justice.

I should say that I am probably overly critical and overly biased about the Lilly/mom issue after having watched 90+ episodes of Cold Case since joining this board last May. LOL! A lot is fresh in my mind, but it spans the course of all 4 seasons. So, I am perhaps unfairly linking scenarios that, in fact, have been more spread out than they seem to me, especially given my viewing habits in the last year. And, this is also probably why I'm more interested in change for Lilly. JMHO, though.

Oh I so totally agree. I'm disappointed with this rumination now in season 4 with nothing resolved. They overkilled it this year with this for Lilly. And the other thing they did is not give us any mid season Lilly eps. They've been doing that since season 2. It wouldn't matter for those that haven't been with the series since the getgo but those that have, like me, it sticks out like a sore thumb.

Like, they started off the season with nothing but Lilly "stuff," then dropped it for about 15 episodes. LOL! Perhaps she disappeared into ... the Bat Cave? (joke for those following the Caption the Cold Case Image thread). LOL!

Maybe the writers wanted the audience to get to know the other characters and why they are like the way they are

This was a really good show. I figured it was Johnny's father who was the perp. I dunno....gave the wrong vibes somehow. Also was really surprised to hear Corey Hart....a big fan of his music. Suffice to say, the song "Never Surrender" fitted perfectly with the storyline. A big 2 thumbs up!!

Getting issues of her chest....Beats turning into another Ellen Rush drunk ....although it has its fine moments. Like placing a telephone call to an ex (I still think it's Kite myself )

I think I'd just like to see Lil' make a little more progress and not sound like she's rehashing the same thing over and over ...
