I'm not a feminst at all; but I do watch the show from a writers/ viewers perspective. Love on this show makes the storyline weak; period. Aside from this, I think the writers can come up with a bigger story; and leave out the love triangles. We seen that happen back in S4 with the Ray/ Joseph thing.
As a reminder People are entitled to their own opinions, on here.

This was a hard one for me to like! Although I wouldn't go so far as to say the show has "lost its spark." This might have been the first clunker of the season for me. 12 out of 13 ain't a bad percentage, so I think season 6 is still a fantastic season for the show. I totally agree with you, electrophile. The last 10 minutes really saved it for me. I find that the most basic requirement for me to enjoy a CC ep is that I must have some sort of emotional connnection or sympathy for the victim character. For the bulk of this episode, I didn't find Jane interesting at all. I really didn't care if they found her killer or not. It wasn't until that last scene in the park that she showed some passion. So I began to enjoy the ep at that point. I do understand that the revelation of the Real motives (the story of the asbestos cover-up) came late in the episode for the reason that they have to present lots of "red herrings" before the real killer & motives are known. But given that the viewers might stereotype of the victim as a "talking head" anchorperson, they needed to show her passion, heart, and intelligence much earlier in the episode. For example in the last episode "lotto fever", we really got to see alot of the actor Zack Ward. It became a little showcase for his talents. In this episode, they sort of pushed the actress Dorian Brown into the background. She wasn't allowed to shine until the very end, which was a mistake I think. Cellogal your points about Scotty are excellent! I think this episode spent too much time on the personal life of Scotty! I do like Frankie, I think she is pretty and they make her character "understated" and not overtly sexual. I've been a fan of Tania Raymonde since I saw her in an ep of "The Guardian" back in 2003. So I guess it's hard for me to see her just in the context of the episodes. Now enter stage left the "hot reporter character." When they first introduced her and Scotty follows her into the office, he makes a comment and they cut to Lilly's face. She gives that "oh no not again look" which I laughed at because I thought that was the writers winking at us the viewers(who have suffered through yet another tired Scotty romantic storyline this season.) But then cut to the bar, and voila -- he's working on the reporter... so I felt like they didn't get their own joke. It did provide some good Vera & Jeffries lines -- "Make sure you get her important details -- name...number...MARITAL STATUS.." This ties in with point #1 -- which is that I didn't feel that they built up the character of the victim, Jane. Could this have been because they cut out material from the Case in order to fit in more Scotty storyline? Hmmm... The Lilly-interrogation was good! Her autograph line was maybe a bit cruel... but It was good to see the "bad lilly" again. Versus the old "tears in my eyes" sympathetic lilly that they sometimes close the show with. The fence jumping scene was scary as heck! It was funny in the last preview but seeing it during the episode was shocking. Jeffries discharging his weapon? He must have a thing against dogs. Scary scene. Heh. They should've thrown him in the paddy two seasons ago for his playground vigilantism. See what happens when people don't get punished as they ought to be? ;D ROTFLMAO @ THIS!!!!!! Great, Boxman!Coldfan74: Both male & female members did rail on Lilly during her Joseph/Ray period. Season 4 I believe had her bouncing between Ray and Joseph like a pinball! But, it's not really a man/woman issue. Cellogal is a BILLION PERCENT correct that it's more about Scotty being portrayed as having no self-respect. But, I do respect your opinion! One thing I like is that our members have very strong feelings about episodes and I enjoy reading their passion and intelligence even if I don't agree with their comments. And I'm sorry about your shrinking testicles Fairmont park? Was that the same park from Roller Girl? Is that a real park in Philly? Li2: Vera's Hat -- looking forward to your caps

I voted "good" for this one because I mostly enjoyed it, even though it wasn't amazing. I liked that the killer wasn't obvious from the beginning, and I really liked the closing sequence. It also evoked the period very well. I graduated from high school in 1988, so I remember that time and the fashions and hair very well.
I also agree, though, with most of the posters here in hoping the Scotty/Frankie storyline would just go away already. I'm a minority here, I think, in that I primarily watch this show for the cases, but I like the personal stories when they add something to the show, and this one adds nothing for me. It's just pointless, and why does Scotty always have to have a love interest anyway? It might do him some good to be single for a while.

baby boomer here (the youngest of them anyway ;D) The ole asbestos problems. I remember that! And to think it only happened twenty years ago. The conspiracies then and the conspiracies now are still the same - to make money and no one cares about the sanctity of life. Not much has changed in twenty years...
Scotty and Frankie *upchuck*. I have no interest, whatsoever, in Scotty's personal life - never did.
Nah, I wouldn't like it if Lilly was acting like that. It's a turn off either way for me.
It's interesting to see where news has come since the anchor women of the 80's. Not much has changed except now news is pushed at the public as some sort of entertainment personality. Where are the Walter Cronkite's ...the Jessica Savages? Or was this character loosely based upon Jessica?
As far as the quality of the episode. I gave it a good. This show has become so mediocre that I have no idea, anymore, what a 'Best of Season' episode would look like.

irishkale- BAck in 6X04 Rollergirl- Missy Gallovan was found murdered in Fairmount park, and yes it's a real park What is the Scotty acting that way going to lead him, to the playboy manision; just hope his next love isn't the dredded Paris Hilton or someone far worse?? Is it just me or is Kathryn Morris getting bored with the entire show herself, to me the last couple of episode she seems as if she is?? Just a thought

I never was a fan of Scotty. Hot latin lover cliché - hm, yep, can get that idea. I never cared though, that he is latin, from the first episodes with Scotty on I've seen merely the cliché of a young, hotheaded, good looking, charming guy with a soft spot and tendency to mess up things - producers probably thought, that would be good to draw some girl attention, I don't know, but they sure didn't hit my taste. I never cared much about Scotty's development or private life, but I too wonder what is the point of this story arc with Frankie, even if I somewhat like the character. Is it just to have some romantic (more or less) story on the show, because every show should have one going on? What's that, one of the essential ingridients, recommended by the standard guide book for cooking a mainstream tv show?
The case was okay, it could have been eventually better. That it wasn't really good is IMO the responsibility of the directing, not the writing. I had the impression, that all of the cast sort of acted restricted, main cast and guests. You could get a hunch of how unsatisfied Jane was with her job in the flashback scene of her mother, but it was really just a hunch. You could get a bit of an idea of passion, when she was watching the footage, but just an idea. And sorry, the subtlety of sexism 20 years ago and today both got lost, it was so overdone, that you only could start to think, stuff it, who want's to know that. The camera work additionally caused a slight feeling of nausea for me, particular in the present scenes, all these movements and spinning around the actors made me dizzy. Maybe it was to imitate news story feeling, but it didn't help the story. Holly Dale did better episodes before.
Good case, but because of the directing just an okay from me for this episode.

The Chapin Case was the Season Finale of S5 ( Ghost of MY Child), Max Chapin was supposed have died in the fire but didn't, at the end he was reunited with his mother. I just found that weird to see his box, since it was clear that the empty box was shown being put into a garbage can at the end.

THIS IS THE WORSE COLD CASE EPISODE EVER! Even with 8 years and Thick As Thieves, I did not have that feeling that almost everything was a disaster but in this episode... This was worse than those 2... I'm not gonna say I dont Like cold case or anything, I posted my opinion in the General Discussion thread About that specific issue Let's start with the not so bad: *Costumes and hair were 80s *Jane was likeable *The sick man was a good person *The appropiate person saw the victim at the end(EVEN IF I WANT DETECTIVE TO SEE THE VICTIM AGAIN!) *Kat Miller was great! I like her a lot but I get the feeling she does not get along with Lilly... I do not know why, I Dont see them together a lot The crap *Erica Shelton wrote Wednesday's women... I did not have extremely high expectations for this episode but this episode was so LOW! *Lilly jumping off the fence was not bad but not as good as in the preview *Directing was awful! * Almost no character developement *Scotty Frankie/and then why so many people asked why I hate Scotty so much? *why detectives are not seeing the victim? Lilly was really involved in the case, she could have seen the victim too *There was a little twist but nothing important since we knew since the beginning her murder had to do with Shaw Plastics *Boring case *The worse cold case episode ever shown I had been catching reruns and I watched recently "The Plan" OMG! If someone else here saw that one, please let me know what you thought about it(at leat 1 line) It was so emotional! I know everything changes but this episode was way too low and boring! and I mean, I love the year 1988(year I was born) but all cases from that year are not really good: Family, 8 Years and this piece of crap called Breaking News: but the last one was extremely extremely bad +++QUESTIONS++++1.Jane's mother wanted her to cover presidential "bates" what's that? 2. Frankie Told Scotty "I like cockie" and she said I like cockie to, what's cockie? 3.In the end, the "insider" and the owner of the company(who lived in the Cayman Islands) were arrested too? 4. What was going on with hockey? is NHL Season? 5. I did not understand very well the autograph scene; Lil said something about 50's I can't remember very well HOPE YOU CAN HELP ME WITH QUESTIONSI'm having High high expectations for another upcoming episode(wont post it here, no spoilers) and will try to forget this episode was ever aired The Chapin Case was the Season Finale of S5 ( Ghost of MY Child), Max Chapin was supposed have died in the fire but didn't, at the end he was reunited with his mother. I just found that weird to see his box, since it was clear that the empty box was shown being put into a garbage can at the end. yeah, weird... Stillman put that box in the trash can

1. Presidental Debates- Are when two people are in the running to be president, we had just had them back last year before Obama won the election
2. Frankie meant mischief probably or the fact that she likes trouble
3. The insider was arrested as well, he was part of the company that knew about the abestos
4. It is NHL season as well as NFL
5. It was Lilly's way or getting Mort to talk about the reporter.
Don't read into everything, this show is left to be unexplaining in certain things. Your not going to find the answer; that's how the magic of this show is.

I understand where you are coming from, doesn't the episode come in your language; I was just wondering?
The NFL starts before the NHL does; both are going on right now.

Another great 1980s-era episode! i love the cases that happened in my time! I also heard yet another song never played on radio or on 1980s compilation CDs, i wonder why people call groups like The Fixx 'one hit wonders' when they have many great songs available?
