Something I have to add about the music. While I did enjoy it, and didn't mind "Come as you Are." as the ending song, I felt that they could have gone with a various artist grunge soundtrack, using songs by AiC, Temple of the Dog, Pearl Jam, Sound Garden, and Nirvana.

HEY! Here's a nice one: The color RED is sometimes used on Cold Case to foreshadow a scene where there's an argument/fight. They did the same in 3.22 "The River".

Excellent point boxman. Lilly is the type to let it all simmer below the surface until she just goes off the deep end. This philosophy may have worked previously, but this overload of angst is too strong to treat this way. As Kathryn has said in a few recent articles, she's worried about Lilly. She's worried that Lilly's going to "off herself." If Lilly were a real person, this would be a genuine concern because of the hardships, but more so because of the way that she deals with them. She buries them and covers them up with work. It's only going to work for so long and then she's going to NEED to deal with it. I can't wait to watch this unfold because it should lead to some great Lilly scenes and stories.

Sheer excellence I can't vote it season's best yet because, of course, I dunno how the rest are gonna be. But this was pretty damn good. To sum it up: (good) points: - Lilly's scenes. Although the case in itself was way good enough to catch the viewer's attention, Lilly's PTSD scenes were lifelike and believable, they really showed the vulnerable side of her you'd expect from ANYONE in such a situation, and I'm glad they (writers) didn't sweep it under the rug. It was worth seeing, and I'm excited about where it will lead. - The case itself. Well done, without holes, unpredictable (for me at least), with a lot of gray area to evaluate regarding the characters. I haven't read the rest's opinion yet, maybe you didn't buy the father as the doer, but I did--wouldn't be the first person to react with unreasonable rage at being put into a position that traumatized him as a child. Traumas works in mysterious ways. Phobia's one of them. Rage is another. if he hadn't covered it up, it would've been an attenuating factor to a court of law. Hard to plead temporal insanity after 13 yrs of letting someone else go to jail for it though. - The music!!! Now all they gotta do is a true goth ep and I'll be a happy vampire. At least the happy thrash side of me was appeased. - Anyone else enjoy the camera shots? Not sure if it was a handheld camera or not, but anyway it made everything look so real, like you could almost touch it and smell it. NICE.

DOUBLE POST!!! After reading everyone else's. As usual I think Boxman pays just a LITTLE too much attention to detail (not altogether a bad thing) but I DO strongly agree with his assessment of "The Stillman Situation". I also have to add I did catch a spark of "something" between Kat and Vera. Whether it will develop into anything I don't know... I wouldn't want it to move beyond unresolved chemistry. But the chemistry IS there, no doubt about it. For the first time ever I caught a bit of something between Lil and Scotty. Not sexual tension exactly--not sexual chemistry either--but something more akin to an interesting friendship. I also have to admit ( ) I judged Lil's new hairdo a bit harshly. It looks way different and more natural in film than in stills. Makes her face look a little sallow... but maybe that's partly the point. It's a nice "do" and doesn't look nearly as barbie-like as it seemed at first.

I re-watched this one last night and I caught two things that I missed the first time (as is often the case with this show, and thus the reason why a second viewing is always beneficial IMO). I mentioned in my original post how awesome Kathryn was in this one for all of the obvious scenes, but I failed to note a less obvious one that may have been her finest moment of the episode if for the subtleties alone. Near the end of the second prison interview with Dylan, she brings up his graffiti message "Evil Triumphs" as evidence that he was/is a bad seed. It's a tactic that she hopes will pay off. Dylan quickly points out the rest of the quote: "When good men do nothing." Lilly seems caught off guard, so Dylan points out that she mustn't have heard the quote before. Lilly gives an ashamed, embarrassed look then slightly shakes her head and mouths the word, "No." It's so subtle, it's easy to miss, but it's so brilliant! So many words conveyed through that simple moment. I really think these sort of scenes separate Kathryn out from every other actor. Secondly, I really love the small reveal of the inside of Lilly's black suit jacket outside City Hall. On the outside, it's just a plain ordinary black suit jacket. But on the inside, it's a wild leopard print! It's like Lilly: seemingly conservative and very guarded on the outside, but secretly hiding a crazy side that almost eloped at 19 and still harbors feelings for bad boy McRay. Very clever choice of costume.

This is kind of late and probably just a reiteration of what other people have said better, but I only got to see the episode last night and I'm still a bit excited, so here goes... :-)
I thought it was a good start to the new season, even though the episode was so depressing. I managed to guess the "doer" (and I'm usually really slow at figuring it out!) but I had no idea why he would have done it - that was quite shocking. The part with the boy being interrogated by that cop was just disturbing.
On a happier note I liked that there was a bit more talking and laughing among the team (now that I've seen earlier episodes I kind of feel like that died out a bit in season 4) and I liked it when Kat and (especially!) Scotty hugged Lilly - it made me happy to see them all acting like friends :-) She looked like she needed a hug too, although I thought the writers did well to show that she was still very much affected by the shooting without having her go to pieces - the way she reacted stepping out of the interrogation room seemed very realistic and in character to me.
All in all, I thought it was good! Now I just have to hang on till next week :-)

WOW! That was a very big surprise last night! I didn't had the time to watch Cold Case last week, so I taped it. Yesterday evening I finally watched it. We were busy in season 3 and I already expected the episode to be One Night, like the schedule said. It began with a voice: 'Previously on Cold Case'. That was weird, only have that with a season premiere! Then they showed bits of Stalker and I totally flipped! They're finally sending out SEASON 5 in the NETHERLANDS!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D We were going to watch Thrill Kill! Those people from Net5 (<- I love them!) are sending out season 5! I can't stop saying it! I'm so excited, because this evening is going to be the second episode of season 5 then! ;D ;D Y'all probably mentioned already everything I'm going to say, but I'm still going to tell my opinion about the episode: I loved the start of the episode. Not the flashback, but after the song and the scream. It gave me a warm feeling, seeing those friends together again. The case was a bit dissapionting, to my opinion. Ofcourse it's terrifying and very sad and bad what the killer did to those kids, but it's always bad and sad.. I guessed the killer right the first time I saw him. I did love the part with Nick, sitting on a trashcan on the street. --You just have to ask it the right way, Big Boy-- That was kinda what she said, right? Made me smile And the case didn't ruin the episode. I loved the small personal touches in it. Like the small part of Kat saying to Nick he wasn't allowed to eat her chicken. I was a bit shocked by the fact they're maybe going to charge Scotty for shooting that killer. They can't possibly do that, can they?! I could really feel how Lilly felt in that interrogationroom. Boss didn't like that she had to step out for a minute, that's for sure. Stillman was a bit in a bad mood anyway. At least that's how I thought he was. My sister said he's probably concerned about Lilly and he doesn't want to 'almost-loose' her again. I had the idea he didn't even want Lilly to come back. He wasn't really nice to her. The shooting certainly had a real impact on the squad. I think they've become much closer now. And I've seen Lilly smile a lot in this episode. I've heard you talking she's going to do that a lot more in season 5, so I'm curious! I love it when she smiles . So this evening is going to be fun again! I'm curious to see episode number 2 of season 5! My friends are getting tired of me again because I can't stop talking about it! That was it. Bye!

I have just rewatched the episode and let me tell you this is one of the best episodes IMHO I liked everything
*Someone noticed that when Dylan was released there was an add that said "State of Pennsylvania".... Pennsylvania is not a state, It's a commonwealth!
*Kirk Acevedo did a wonderful job portraying Dylan and the actor who portrayed Teddy was a good actor too
EXCELLENT EPISODE. My fav premiere

All in all a very good and very intense episode. The case was intense, the character development was intense, everything was intense. And everything was very good.
