This is my first fan fiction, probably last one too, but I just wanted to give it a try (sorry for any grammar mistakes)
Title: Series finale Rating: PG-13 (at least i think so) Major characters: ensemble Well, as said in title, this is my vision of series finale. It's set approximately 11 years from now so somewhere around year 2020. Written in a form of flashbacks (italic) about important events in Lilly's life. Here it goes...
TV blasting woke Lilly up. Instead of getting up immediately she lay on the bed staring at the ceiling. It was her day off and she decided not to rush through it. She started thinking about events that let to that day.
3 years ago: New evidence on a case made Lilly reopen a case of a hustler that was shot just a year earlier. Interviews of witnesses pointed at the new direction. Hustler came from NYC in search of his old girlfriend. To support himself in Philly he started dealing drugs and quickly started pimping girls. He was remembered as a very abusive towards women, few of them ended up in a hospital and one even on the cemetery. New evidence pointed at this old girlfriend, he was seen last with her, and all Lilly had to go one was her name – Chris. One day Lilly got a tip where to find that Chris girl and she went to get her together with Vera. While Lilly went out, Stillman expected the worse case scenario – and he realized it happened as Lilly walked into department with Christina Rush handcuffed. As Vera sat down with Chris in the interrogation room Stillman approached Lilly. ‘I was hoping it will not be her.’ he said with worried voice. ‘I knew who I’m searching for from the beginning’ ‘I’ll interrogate her with Vera. For your sake I’m taking you off this case. Your sister’s in big trouble’ Stillman put his hand on Lilly’s shoulder. ‘You mean for her sake’ Lilly started walking towards break room ’and I got used to her always being in some kind of trouble.’ Interrogation took a long time, Stillman wanted to cover every detail besides Chris wasn’t opening up easily. Lilly all this time sat by her desk slowly sipping coffee. Scotty came in and sat down next to Lilly. ‘They promised me results in the morning’ Scotty looked worried both for Lilly and Chris. When he saw Chris few hours earlier for the first time since she split he remembered how he felt towards her. He still had feeling for Chris that he couldn’t ignore ’How is Stillman doing?’ ‘She claims it was self defense. That the gun went off during the struggle. But I know her; she’s doing her act as always, blaming others for her mistakes.’ Lilly said with angry look on her face. ‘Maybe it was. The guy WAS abusive’ ‘Are you trying to defend her? I told you long ago she’s trouble and you still defend her?’ Lilly said with raised voice ‘Don’t tell me you still have feeling for her’ ‘Well, what if I do?’ Lilly got up and stormed out from the office, she got back in the morning. Seeing Scotty there she turned wanting to get away again but bumped into Vera. ‘Have you heard? It looks like your sister will not be charged. Position of fingerprints on the gun confirm struggle story’

Lilly still couldn’t forgive herself for then not trusting Chris, but from that day Chris was working hard to gain trust back. Lilly was very much surprised that from that day Chris didn’t mess neither her own life nor Lilly’s life. Lilly, from her bed, looked up at the picture on the dresser. It was wedding photo of Chris and Scotty. ‘Who could have though?’ she quietly said to herself. Noise downstairs was getting louder, so she got up and went downstairs stopping in the middle of the stairs. Form there she observed her daughter and son playing ‘cops and robbers’ but it was more of a fight over who will play the cop. ‘Can’t you kids play something else for a change?’ Lilly smiled ‘No! I wanna be a cop just like you’ little girls said ‘Jake, let your sister be a cop today, ok buddy?’ Lilly said as she went into the kitchen to pour herself a cup of coffee. ‘But mom, I want to be a cop like daddy was’ Jake grumbled. ‘Then you both be cops. Catch robbers together’ Lilly said slowly trying to find solution to her kids’ problem. Just then door bell rang. Lilly went to open the door. ‘And you’ll be our robber, mommy’ girl smiled ‘Mommy has a lot of things to do before we go out, Gracie’ Lilly opened the door and seeing Cooper there she smiled. ‘Perfect timing, dad. You’ll play a bad guy today’ ‘As always. But I don’t mind being caught by such fine detectives as those too’ Paul responded Lilly went to the kitchen to finish her coffee. She stood there watching her father being chased by Gracie and Jake. She always wanted to be close with her father, but even birth of her kids didn’t get them as close together as one horrible event did.
11 years ago: Lilly never imagined being in a relationship with an undercover cop, someone that was “away” a lot, but somehow it gave Lilly someone to depend on and yet gave her a lot of space. When Eddie wasn’t working undercover he took Lilly out a lot, made her feel special and organized a lot of romantic evenings for two. After one of those romantic dinners Lilly found out she was pregnant. It surprised both of them; they were neither planning nor were ready to become parents. Saccardo transfer to robbery to stop the undercover assignments, he also stepped up and proposed to Lilly. ‘If people are meant to be together, some paper doesn’t change that. My parents were married and my dad still walked away’ Lilly responded after seeing the ring ‘So what? You don’t want to get married?’ ‘No, I don’t believe in marriage. The promise to be together forever…marriage license doesn’t make that happen’ ‘I want to raise that kid with you’ Eddie said placing his hand on her belly. ‘We don’t need to be married to do that. Just always be there for me…and for our child’ she placed her hand over his and looked directly into his eyes. Eddie smiled as did she.

7 years ago: Lilly was lying in a hospital bed looking at balloons and flowers that Kat and gang brought while she was sleeping. She picked up one of the cards “Congratulation Lilly. We all are happy for you. Hot Squad. P.S. Hope the kid didn’t took it looks after the father. Vera.” It made Lilly smile. As she placed the card back on the table Stillman walked in. ‘Not excited to see me?’ he said after seeing Lilly yawn. ‘Nah, boss. Just tired’ ‘Yeah, I heard labor can do that’ he smiled ‘Have you decided on a name?’ ‘Jacob John’ Lilly responded immediately ‘Hoped you’ll go with Paul, him being your father and all’ ‘Wanted to honor a person that was always there for me. That is you, boss’ Stillman nodded and smiled slightly. At that moment door opened and a 2 year old girl ran in grabbing Stillman’s leg. Saccardo walked in behind her and closed the door. ‘Grandpa’ toddler almost shouted. Stillman picked her up and sat down on the chair near Lilly’s hospital bed. ‘Now, how is that possible that Grandpa is the only word Gracie pronounces perfectly?’ Eddie walked up to Lilly and kissed her on a cheek ‘Hey, precious’ ‘That’s because he spoils her rotten’ Lilly said as she watched her daughter play with John. Nurse opened the door and wheeled in little plastic basket thingy with baby boy inside. She picked up the boy and placed him in Lilly’s arms. Jake was sleeping sound. Stillman stood up with Gracie in his arms and sat down on the bed. ‘Jacob looks like his dad, will be steeling hears starting in kindergarten’ Stillman commented seeing the boy for the first time. ‘That’s not such a bad thing’ Saccardo smiled ’Hey, little one’ Baby winced as Eddie kissed him on a forehead. ‘Guess he’s hungry’ said Lilly seeing her son’s grimace. ‘Or maybe he resents his father already’ curiously said Saccardo.
5 years ago: Lilly was speeding; almost hit two cars as she was driving to the hospital. She parked on tow zone but didn’t care. She jumped out from the car and rushed into the Emergency. ‘Saccardo? Where is he?’ Lilly with shaking voice almost shouted at the receptionist. ‘Lilly? Here.’ She heard Stillman calling her from the corridor. She run towards him, turning around the corner of the hall she saw Eddie lying on a stretcher; doctors and nurses working on him; bloody clothes on the floor. Stillman caught Lilly as she was about to faint. ‘I told him not to take that assignment’ she yelled when she came about ‘I begged him not to’ Lilly started crying. Stillman was called by one of the doctor. He approached him and they talked whispering. Stillman was looking back and forth at Lilly and Eddie. Lilly was shaking, her face in tears. She suddenly dropped on her knees. Kneeling there in the middle of the hallway she felt someone hugging her. It was Cooper. ‘How did you know where I was?’ she asked right away. ‘Detective Miller called me. Said what happened’ he placed Lilly’s head on his shoulder and started stroking her hair ‘Said Jake and Gracie were scared when you left, but are now sleeping’ said trying to calm his daughter down. Stillman approached Lilly and Paul. ‘Lilly…I’m sorry…so sorry’ he said in calm yet sad voice. ‘No. No! It’s not possible. Not poss…He’s not...’ Lilly fainted. When she woke up she was lying in her own bed. Hot tea was standing on bedside table. She wasn’t thirst, or hungry. In fact she didn’t feel anything just sadness. She wanted to sleep; sleep forever. Few days have passed. She slept for most of the time. One day she heard her son laughing. Decided to go downstairs, curiosity took over the sadness. From the stairs she watched Paul play with Jake. ‘Grandpa? Can we play chess?’ Gracie pulled on Cooper sleeve. ‘Sure Gracie’ Cooper noticed Lilly standing on the stairs ‘Sorry Lilly, didn’t mean to wake you’ ‘That’s fine.’ she responded in monotone voice as she walked into the kitchen and got herself a mug of coffee. ‘Let me make you something to eat.’ Lilly ignored Cooper and headed upstairs. ‘Your boss and I arranged everything for the funeral.’ Paul continued. Lilly, hearing “funeral”, started crying; she dropped the mug spilling the coffee and she run upstairs. After the funeral Lilly was spending her time in bedroom. She slept, cried, wondered around the room in Eddie’s shirt on; she went over and over the photo album recollecting 6 wonderful years she spent with Saccardo. All this time she also heard Cooper taking care of the kids; most of the time she heard Jake and Gracie laughing and giggling. Paul took care of everything around the house. He also annoyed Lilly bringing her food few times a day, telling her to eat, to be strong for the kids. She knew she had to be strong for the kids, but even their smiles didn’t make her better. Month after the funeral Lilly started coming out of her bedroom. Just for few minutes at the beginning; then minutes turned into hours. She started going for walks, first alone, then with her kids and her father. She also began calling Scotty at work, asking how work is going, what kind of cases they are working on. Stillman didn’t force Lilly to come back too soon, he knew she needed time. Cooper also knew that, he gave her all the time she needed to get back on her feet; but that time Cooper spend at Lilly’s house made him very close with his grandkids. After going back to work and trying to make some order in her life, Lilly realized she needed her father more that ever before. She wanted him to be there, to come over a lot and play with grandkids, to listen to her, to stoke her hair which made her feel very safe.

i realize it might be hard to follow but i hate writing in a classical way meaning something happens, then something else happens with timeline being continous so this one is like a last episode with Lilly recalling important events in her life, going back and forth between her present life(2020) and her past (that is actually a future for us in 2009), hope that clears it little bit

Lilly was standing in front of a mirror in her bedroom wearing a spring flowery dress. Cooper entered and walked up to her. He stroked her hair gently which made her smile. ‘Kids are dressed and ready to go.’ he stated. ‘How do you do that? It takes me always so long to get them ready.’ she began to put on her makeup. ‘Magic’ Cooper smiled ‘we’ll be waiting downstairs for you’ Lilly, after putting on makeup, grabbed her purse and tried to fit in everything she needed, which wasn’t easy. Being a cop she always had her gun with her and that took half a space; and her kids, especially Gracie, climbed on every obstacle which meant having Neosporin and bandages always ready. Not that Gracie ever cried when she fell and always got up and was ready for more fun and bruises, ‘she’s a tough kid just like her mother’ Stillman always said. Lilly was frantically looking for something in her bedroom, turned everything up side down when suddenly her eyes widened. ‘Grace Ellen Saccardo, did you take mommy’s badge again?’ Lilly demanded the answer as she was running down the stairs. Gracie was standing in the living room proudly waving a badge ‘I wanna be a detective, too. Like you, mommy’ ‘Your mommy is a lieutenant now’ Stillman entered the house and he grabbed a badge from girl’s hand handing it to Lil’. ‘Does it mean mommy’s not a cop anymore?’ Jake turned his head slightly to the side while looking at Stillman. ‘No, stupid’ said Gracie to her brother ‘Grace! Don’t call your brother that. That’s not nice.’ it was a split second for Lilly to respond ‘That means’ Gracie continued to Jake ‘mom has two kids home and more at work to keep out of trouble’ Gracie said proudly. ‘Nicely put’ laughed Stillman ‘knowing that you still want to be in charge, Lil’?’ Lilly just smiled. Being lieutenant made her uncomfortable at the beginning but she got used to it by now.
1 year ago: News of Jeffries passing wasn’t the only bad one squad go that day. Stillman had for the last few months problems with his superiors. They were forcing him to retire and tried to get some other lieutenant to transfer to hot squad and take over. One day he called Lilly to his office. ‘I’m going to retire in couple of months’ he confessed when Lilly sat down ‘They can’t make you do that, boss’ Lilly responded with anger ‘They can Lil’. Besides its time for me to retire’ Stillman looked at the photo of his grandkid ‘spend more time with him. And use the fact, that he still wants to be seen with his grandpa. Also spend more time with your kids’ he smiled ‘Who’s gonna take over?’ Lilly sounded worried. ‘I made a deal. They gave me time to find replacement among my own squad’ ‘Jeffries would be the best…’ she said sadly ‘…but now, who do you see fit? Vera?’ ‘Vera is a good detective, but you know he’s too unorganized to be in charge.’ ‘So, who then?’ Lilly said glancing at her friends. ‘You, Detective Rush’ Stillman smiled while Lilly’s eyes widened in shock. ‘Me?’ she responded after a longer silence ‘Who else? Kat wouldn’t survive as a boss. Scotty…well you know he’s too egotistical to be in charge’ Lilly nodded her head ‘and you…first of all you have seniority, you’re organized, you’re still very committed to this job and you listen to people, and that’s very important, to listen to your people’ Stillman continued ‘What if I’ll say no?’ Lilly said curiously ‘Then you might get some tight-ass in here, and I don’t want someone like that limiting this squad’s potential’ Stillman observed Lilly carefully. ‘You’ll study a bit, although I believe you know everything you need to pass the test. The rest will come with time.’ He continued trying to convince Lilly. ‘Besides, upstairs they already agreed with my choice’ ‘You’re forcing me to take it?’ she responded with slightly raised tone of voice. ‘I’m forcing you to consider it’ he looked directly into her eyes.

I think I'm having a problem reading it, due to the italics, I'm not putting your story down; it's well written is it at all possible to not write it in italics; it's hard for me to read your story that way?
Anyhow keep up the good work ( I'm not trying to insult you in any respect)
