It seemed fitting, the way that her life was practically going. Lilly had wondered if she had really died underneath the water. What is that was in fact true, or perhaps she was lying in a hospital, in a coma? It could explain for all the reasons given why she was moving away from everyone she loved and cared about, even more so; leaving behind a career in law enforcement.

Just then, Lilly began increasing the speed so much that she didn’t even care if she had gotten a ticket. None of this even mattered anymore, until she crashed into the guardrail and blacked out. If what she was thinking, was in fact; true. In the hospital, Lilly was still very much lying in a coma; after what had happened to her.

Paul remained by her side, hoping that she would eventually wake up. The door opened as Scotty slowly peeked his head into the room, seeing his partner lying that way. It broke him, to know that he should have picked up the phone earlier but yet didn’t. Taking her other hand, Scotty’s lips were quivering; while seeing the person that had always been like a sister to him; lying there motionless.
“Hey, you hear me?” he said, “If you do Lil, I’m here. Everyone’s worried about you, got to remain here with us.”

Just as Scotty had stepped out, Paul gently squeezed Lilly’s hand, while watching her chest rising and fall within each breath. In his mind, he remembered her tiny hand wrapping around his finger. How in a moment, just how special it had made in his heart. Just seeing those blue eyes of hers, for the first time still had brought tears to his eyes.

Still the chances of Lilly actually waking up were now slim, but he wanted to do everything that he could to save his little girl. However her heart was still beating on its own, which was indeed a good sign. As Paul rested his hand against her cheek, he felt the pain of seeing her lying on the bed motionless. She deserved to get married and have a family of her own. All these years, Paul had been wrong in thinking that Lilly had all of this.

Although he was so proud of her accomplishments as a cop, Paul knew she deserved to have that chance. Glancing over at her heart monitor, he knew she was still very much alive, “Lilly I’m sorry how I had acted before, you weren’t a mistake; never were. I’ve always loved you; I just don’t want to lose you. “His eyes now flooding with tears that he didn’t dare let fall.
Ellen Rush stood in the shadows, watching her ex-husband holding the hand of their eldest daughter. She knew in her heart that she hadn’t been such a good mother, but still knew that Lilly had such a life to live. Dying now wouldn’t seem right. However Ellen couldn’t bring her daughter out of this coma, but continue to hover over in the shadows.

Outside the squad still hung their heads; especially Scotty. He knew in his heart that he had been a terrible best friend and brother to someone whom had cared so much about as a sister. Losing Lilly would probably just about make him quit; for good. Moving on to Stillman, whom was so much racked with guilt over not being able to protect her in time, wanted so much to have been able to trade places.

Lilly didn’t deserve this, but if she had died; he’d retire for good. He couldn’t just walk back into homicide without her being there, John cared for Lilly as if she was his own daughter. Losing her would in fact, break him. Everyone else without words; felt the same way.

During the next few days, Lilly hadn’t shown any signs of improvement. Still her heart was still beating on its own, as she continued lying between life and death. Paul hadn’t moved from the chair except to use the bathroom, but he too wanted to sleep. Just then Stillman entered the room, seeing how tired the older man was.

“ I’ll stay with her, you should sleep.”

Paul exhaled softly, before leaning over to kiss Lilly’s cheek, “ I love you.” After he had left, Stillman took a seat, while watching her lying there motionless. It was very hard to see her in this way, but knew now that there would be even more charges brought now against Moe. Glancing over, he watched a monitor displaying Lilly’s brain waves, solemnly.

Just then all the monitors went wild, as several nurses and doctors rushed in. As he stood out in the hallway, Scotty came running down, “ What Happened is Lil alright?”
“ No I think she is having some type of seizure, “ which also had Scotty worried as well. He knew this wasn’t a piece of any good news. However once Paul had heard about the news, he immediately reported back to the hospital.
Nothing was going to stop him from finding out what happened, then the doctor came out. He took Paul aside, “ Your daughter had a seizure but since she doesn’t have history or it, we’re trying to determine why she did. Lilly stopped breathing during it, and is now on a ventilator, her chances are still high of coming out of this coma.”

Paul froze in fear, he needed to see her. Just by seeing Lilly attached to a ventilator, scared him deeply. He would do anything to have traded places with her.

He couldn’t sleep, even when he arrived back at her apartment. Lying down on the daybed, he began crying hard. Losing his eldest child would physically tear him apart, looking over Paul had spotted a photo in a frame of a younger version of him holding Lilly in his arms.
With more tears streaming downward, he had wished hard that his daughter would awaken from her coma.
At the hospital, Eddie’s panic ensure as his eyes looked solemnly at the woman that he still loved. He then bent down, while watching her chest rising and falling, “ I love you Lilly, stay with me,” kissing her hand, “ You mean everything to me.”

His hand touched hers, symbolizing his love for her.

However Lilly’s condition had seemed to worsen drastically after another round of seizures, until one morning that she had one.
