CBS Star Makes South Florida Theatre Debut

CORAL GABLES (CBS4) ―In "Havana Bourgeois" Danny Pino stars as Alberto Varela, a talented commercial artist trying to earn a living during Cuba's transition from capitalism to communism. At first, he supports the revolution thinking the country needs a change. Then, he realizes his homeland is becoming a Marxist state.

Pino told CBS4's Lisa Petrillo acting in this play, for him, is a tribute to those before him.

"I feel like it's a play for my generation", Pino says, "and the generations younger than mine so we can pay tribute to what our parents, grandparents and great-grandparents suffered and sacrificed for. For me, it's that I could be on stage pretending to do that. For other people, it's so they can live in liberty."
