Anyone else besides me watch this show? ;D Now, I know I'm a crime-drama/procedural junkie, but I only watch the well-written ones. The ones that give the show a "unique" flavor in this overly saturated genre. People who aren't watching this show really should. One of the main characters from the cast is a g@y officer. It was hinted in the pilot when he was at a g@y bar, but now we finally have confirmation that he's g@y when we meet his boyfriend in the Season 1 finale. I'm very intrigued by this character that Michael Cudlitz plays. Officer Cooper is an experienced hardened LA beat cop and yet he's g@y?? You wouldn't expect a tough guy to be g@y o.O. At least I've never met a tough guy that was g@y in real life so this is quite a shocker. A lot of my g@y guy friends are into musicals and fashion. This is a very different experience for me to be seeing on television. Man what a finale to leave us at such a cliffhanger. I love this show. It's quickly becoming my new favorite and quite a replacement for the hole that "Third Watch" left me when it came off the air. Plus, the opening credits is wonderfully well done. It's a montage of pictures of criminals and cops

I'll watch it soon. CBL: not all gay people are affeminate or sissy I didn't call them sissies. It's just weird for me to see this on tv, especially in writing. Mainly in the tv world, g@ys are depicted with an interest in fashion. For example, you can see this with Issac Mizhari the fashion designer on BravoTV. Then, there's the kid who plays the nephew of Betty in "Ugly Betty". He's depicted as someone who knows fashion and loves musicals. Plus, my 3 g@y guy friends in real life also share similar interests. They love music(they play almost every single type of instrument you can think of) and musicals. I can't play a musical instrument to save my life except for the acoustic guitar, but gave up on the violin years ago. It's just a weird interesting experience to see this on tv. He's a tough cop who gardens in his spare time with his mate o.O. It's weird...that's all. Just saying that the writing for tv shows are coming a long way since "Brokeback Mountain". Paraphasing what Heath Ledger said in an interview, the late actor stated that same-sex relationship is a taboo subject for most people. It's very controversial and to him as an actor, he said it's his job to represent this g@y character and present this storyline to the public to make them talk about this subject. I've noticed in recent years, "Brokeback Mountain" has started quite a trend in getting more exposure put onto the subject of same-sex relationships. You have shows like "The L Word", Cold Case's storylines about same-sex relationships("A Time To Hate" and I think the episode with the two cops, not sure if they actually had a homosexual relationship or if that was what the detectives of the Cold Case squad though. It's a very vague episode for me to remember, but I remember "A Time To Hate" very well.), g@y fashion designers headlining their own reality shows, and of course gay characters on tv shows like "Ugly Betty" and now "Southland". -------------------------------------------------------------- I absolutely LOVE the fact how writers of "Southland" are presenting this g@y cop in a different light than other male g@y characters on other tv shows. Seriously the exposure has come a long way. Perhaps people will change what they think about same-sex marriage here in the US and in other parts of the world. You know, it's not that I think that California is very liberal, but writers have to be unbias. It's their job to represent everything in a fair light. It's their job to open people's eyes on subjects that may be deemed controversial. It's their job to show the true human condition of things. They say a picture can say 1,000 words, but a word can spread a ripple throughout the whole pond. "Southland" is my new favorite show from this year's fall line-up.

Opening Credits to "Southland" which is done so well:
*No wonder I love this show so much!!!! It's from the producers of my favorite medical-drama, "ER"(when Noah Wyle was still on that show) ;D. They do such great work in television.

Exactly: They depict LGBT people like that b/c it's commercial but there are a lot of gay/lesbians who don't fall into the stereotype
