Hi all, Just some guidelines for posting pictures and articles on this forum: 1. If you're posting pictures: • Please link to the source • If you are posting more than one picture, please post thumbnails in order to keep loading time reasonable for dial-up users (you can get thumbnail codes if you host at (This does not apply to artwork posted in the fanart fourms.) 2. If you're posting articles: • Please link to the source • Please check the website for reposting guidelines; some request that you do not repost entire articles. When possible, you should post a snippet of the article and link to the rest. Thanks everyone for your cooperation in this.

If I may, I have a question since I am not well versed on this currently:
Don't links age off the internet and then the article is not accessible? If we wish to keep a history here of information we should not copy the article and then list the link? Or possibly use the copyright symbol and then source of the article?

If we wish to keep a history here of information we should not copy the article and then list the link? Or possibly use the copyright symbol and then source of the article? I will have to look into this; the reason behind the way it is right now is because it is the way Proboards runs its general talk section, and I know there was some talk of copyright issues with posting whole articles. I will do some digging. Right now, however, I'm seeing articles posted without a link at all, which definitely cannot happen.

• If you are posting more than one picture Since it should only be one picture at a time, it's not necessary. But, that rules isn't meant to encourage people to make a gazillion posts with pictures one right after the other. If people want to post pictures, they should all be in one post, unless they have found more after someone has responded.

If I may, I have a question since I am not well versed on this currently: Don't links age off the internet and then the article is not accessible? If we wish to keep a history here of information we should not copy the article and then list the link? Or possibly use the copyright symbol and then source of the article? It took me a bit to nail this down; I included this because it is a Proboards policy in their general talk section, and this is why. Many websites have policies against people reposting their articles. If an article is reposted in full, it is violation copyright law, and obviously that's something that we don't want to do. So, the way around that is to post a portion of the article, enough to give the reader an idea of what it is about, and link to the rest. There are, of course, some sites which allow you to repost their articles, which is great. For the most part, links are not going to age off the internet; there are very few time sensitive links, especially among the major players who we are most often going to be posting articles from. I've edited the original post to reflect this. It should, theoretically, be up to whoever is posting the article to find out on the site whether or not they can post the whole thing, but if anyone needs assistance with that, they are welcome to PM me with the site in question and I will find out for them. I will make an effort to go ahead and profile the big sites so that people can have a go-to resource for those.
