I'm mulling a couple of story ideas. One is from 1981, the other is from 1961.
Any suggestions? Remember, it doesn't necessarily have to be from that EXACT year. Just no later.

Can you give us a brief summary of the stories?

They're still very vague ideas but here goes:
-One idea was about the detectives reopening the 1961 murder of a young pool player who'd been hustling other players. (Think a young Paul Newman in the movie "The Hustler" of the same year)
-The other idea I had would actually be set in the show's third season and explain why "Josie chippy" Sutton left. On the show, they said her dad Tommy Sutton was killed during a routine traffic stop in 1981, but I hit on the idea of it turning out someone deliberately targeted him. (I suspect it was meant to possibly set up a story down the line, but since she only lasted five episodes, it never panned out).

1981 --> if the cop is sort of a hard-a$$, you might need some hard-rock type songs. AC/DC's album "Back in Black" was big in 1981. Hmmm....

Here's my idea:
a woman is found on the stairs of the art museum, next to the fountain who is an old friend of Rush. It had been ruled robbery gone bad but new evidence reveals the killer was much closer than they thought. The case prompts Lilly to evaluate her own love life, remembering when Joseph broke up with her.
Lilly:I don't want to be alone"
Joseph"Maybe you do"
"Haunted" by Jewel would play at the beginning.
"Soulmate" by Natasha Bedingfield would play at the end.
In between, there would be a mix of hard rock and alternative., like "What If?" by Coldplay and Turn the Page by Metallica

Thanks for the suggestions, lilly, but I was looking for PERIOD music. Jewel and Coldplay weren't releasing any singles in 1981, let alone in 1961.
As for story suggestions, those should go in the fanfic section.
Any ideas from others?

Well, for 1961 it depends on the vibe you want for the episode. Early 60s music before the Beatles was pretty much an extension of the pop music of the 50s. I would guess the music played in pool halls wouldn't necessarily be squeaky-clean pop, but I'll throw in some suggestions as far as that goes.
It's Gonna Work Out Fine - Ike & Tina Turner Just Out Of Reach (Of My Two Empty Arms) - Solomon Burke Let The Four Winds Blow - Fats Domino Bristol Stomp - The Dovells A Hundred Pounds of Clay - Gene McDaniels Runaway - Del Shannon Spanish Harlem - Ben E. King At Last - Etta James Take Five - Dave Brubeck Moody River - Pat Boone
For 1981, again I'd need to know the vibe. I'll give you a mix of the different styles that were popular at the time.
Start Me Up - The Rolling Stones In The Air Tonight - Phil Collins Hungry Heart - Bruce Springsteen The Tide Is High - Blondie Too Much Time On My Hands - Styx Turn Me Loose - Loverboy Hey Nineteen - Steely Dan Arthur's Theme (The Best That You Can Do) - Christopher Cross Woman - John Lennon Keep On Loving You - REO Speedwagon
Hope this helps somehow!
