Vera knew that this guy had been through a lot, but the look in Charlie’s eyes had told him that; he probably didn’t even know about Alice’s death. Taking the picture, the older man then slid down the wall crying softly. He loved her even if now his love was dead; as Charlie finally mustered up the courage to speak.

“Alice”, looking up at the photo, “Was the love of my life, we never got over losing the baby together”, he said. Kneeling down, Vera could very well sympathize with him, “Where were you when she did back in ‘69”?

Charlie then held up his dog tags, “Was already station over in Nam, when she died”, his eyes then looked saddened, “I would never harm her, we had our moments but killing her wasn’t something that I was capable of “.

However Vera brought him in for questioning anyway, but once he had gotten there both him and David Sheppard were almost ready to attack one another. Pulling them each away from each other, Lilly was ready to lash out on Charlie. She wanted to first deal with him, then her own attacker. Inside of the room, she slammed the door shut.

“Your alibi checked out Charlie, but what I don’t get is why she filed charges against you in 1966”, her voice now growing louder.

Charlie took in a breath, “We had a bad fight, but the cops didn’t listen to her. We got over it, and she became pregnant, after that the two of just were happy until the day that our lives had changed”.

Leaning in closer, Lilly could see that this man had nothing to hide, “What happened to the baby”, she asked softly? That automatically made Charlie looked down, “ I don’t really know the real truth, Alice pretty much hide during her last months pregnant; she didn’t want people to talk”.

Though that the squad had solved so many cases, this one had seemed to leave her feeling extremely stumped. However one thing that Lilly wasn’t going to do is get into why Charlie did or didn’t know about the baby. That was a few years before Alice’s death, and probably wasn’t that relevant to her murder; considering that Charlie was over in Nam.


In the other room, Stillman was having a conversation with David, “You know something, now’s the time to tell it”, he barked.

David grinned, “Get me the blonde, she’s always looked good covered in warm, crimson blood”, he smirked. That only angered Stillman, “You’re not talking to her, and you tell all no more with holding lies”.

“No dice, I want to talk to her”, he said firmly, “Or I won’t say what I had seen”.
At this point, Stillman leaned in closer, “You don’t make the rules here, and I do. Tell me what happened to Alice or I’ll make sure you rot for the rest of your life”.

The other man did in fact have a choice; but it wasn’t a good thing. Crossing his arms, Stillman knew that David wasn’t about to disclose of what happened. Still he wasn’t the killer, which already was pointing towards Alice’s dad and brother.

Just as David was being led away, he laughed wickedly at Lilly, “You tried to run from me a long time ago, but couldn’t. I wanted to kill you so much, but you had so much power Lillian”.
That comment made Lilly turn around, “You should rot in jail for all I care, your nothing but an old sick perverted man”, as then David spat at her, “I should just beat you again”.

After he had been led away, Lilly stood there as flashes of her attack came in light. Feeling him hitting her over and over again, before breaking her jaw. Just as she then grabbed both side of her jaw, the flashback ended; as Jefferies rushed right to Lilly’s side...

“Lil”, her eyes now flickered over. Right away Lilly didn’t let it bother her, “I’m alright”, and everyone pretty much knew that she was emotionally stunted; but instead went on with solving the case.

This is part one

Just as David was being led away, everyone received a call that Mr. Wells had been murdered. Inside of the apartment lay his dead body; while Ryan standing over him. His eyes were powerful and intense, while looking over at both Rush and Valens.

While being cuffed by Vera; Lilly then glanced over at a photo of a very pregnant Alice. Having a hunch, she then turned it over and saw the date: June ’69. To her that was puzzling since now she knew that Charlie had been lying all this time. To make matters worse, she then found a chess board with a piece of paper that had the words: Three trees, circle, make right; probably a set of directions.

When the door to the interrogation room slammed open, Lilly then stormed in, “You killed him, why”, her face appeared to be one that could curl milk. Ryan drew in a breath, before looking at the piece of paper, “It’s directions to where Lisa’s grave is; she is Alice’s daughter”.
Lilly leaned in closer, “Why hide that from us”, as Scotty then walked in he also was royally angry as well, “You killed your own father, Ryan why”?

The older man’s expression drew a quick blank, but reminded them both of the character Ben from “Lost”, for so many reasons; now his paranoia seemed to be worsening. Much to their own surprise, Ryan quickly decided to cooperate, “Killing him had nothing to do with what happened to Alice, and her death was a shocker. Whoever did it probably didn’t understand the logical reasons behind it”.

“Cut the paranoid bull”, Scotty yelled, “You had the directions to Lisa’s grave, why. Did something happen to her or we you involved in her death”?

“She was already born dead; stillborn is an appropriate term. Alice was distraught, after Charlie had left for Nam. Losing Lisa practically killed her in her own sense; but that’s when she pulled away from everyone including our father.

He already had been there when the two had gotten married, after word about her pregnancy had gotten out. Her best friend had already moved out of the city; so it wasn’t that good that Alice was all alone playing chess all day.

This made Lilly think about something, “Playing chess helped her to cope, if you didn’t kill her Ryan then who did”?

In the next room, Kat was sitting on the table looking over at Charlie, whom was in the middle of speaking, “The moment that Alice’s Dad found out about the pregnancy; we ended up marrying. We were just practically kids you know, and then I got drafted”.


Kat laughed softly, “If that was true, Alice didn’t have her daughter Lisa; until June of ’69. You were already at war, nice lie by the way”. This now made Charlie remember something,” I had to lie in order to protect her; no I wasn’t Lisa’s father but I loved my wife. Yes she cheated but it was only because she feared that I would be killed over there”.

“So you get home, how to do handle her having a baby that’s not even yours”, she asked?
Charlie sighed, “I got home after she had died, and I just thought that she ran away. It was the sixties, could have become a hipper and I wouldn’t have known about it. Figured she probably took her daughter with her; but a few days after I had returned a strange man came up to me. He joked about the thrill of killing Alice in Kensington”.
