It's a one shot into how Lilly had felt upon meeting her dad back in " Wings".
Lilly’s heart raced rapidly, her breaths becoming shallower as she then headed towards the table where her father was seated. Upon speaking the words, he turned around much to her dismay; he remembered whom she was.
While the two walked together; Lilly felt that very safe feeling she had felt a very long time ago. Still there was so much anger and sadness; deep with her soul that it made her invisible walls start to peek up again.
She did remember his letters, but felt the tears threatening to fall. Not once did she let them fall; showing her father; Paul Cooper just how life had treated her long ago.
“How’s your mother”, brought back those painful memories. Also having not dealt with meeting closer to her own mother; Ellen Rush, was harder than Lilly had ever imagined.
Sucking in the tears once again, she then lied saying that she was alright. Feeling the need to escape, she did while her heart sped up inside.
When Cooper called out her name; a part of Lilly wanted to stay and be with him. Was she really ready for all of this; or was her own fear of once again feeling abandoned streaming upward. The car down then slammed, while the udder thumping of Lilly’s heart was pulsating throughout her ears.
She had pulled away from so many in her own life; only to land up alone and nursing a lot of old wounds.
“You will be alone, like me”, as the image of George floated around in her mind. Like clockwork it then flashed to Ed right before he had shot her. She couldn’t escape the loneliness that had captivated her entire soul.
Though romance came and went, still the inner workings of Lilly’s heart was yearning for that true love; her own prince to come and rescue her.
Life wasn’t a fairytale, not even a bit. Reality was hitting her hard on the head, Lilly needed to do something but perhaps having her dad back in her life wasn’t so bad; was it? Although having a Narcissistic mother was tough enough?
The second question was, is that what Lilly truly wanted or was there something else bubbling that the surface?
Whatever it was, Lilly then found a park and sat there alone. She was losing it big time, especially noticing that she didn’t have a ring on her finger. Something had to change; but was it too late? Lilly had pushed practically everyone whom had cared about her away, leaving her all alone and lonely.
Perhaps giving Cooper a chance might actually be a good thing, besides he seemed to be doing a whole lot better than her mother had ever been. More importantly; Lilly needed closer for herself.
She wasn’t getting any older; but deep down she really had missed him.
Later on that night, Lilly held up one of the chess pieces; still thinking about him. Perhaps now she was going to let him into her own life; it couldn’t hurt right?
