I have been hearing a lot of great songs on Cold Case, specifically the 1980s episodes that were from supposed 'one hit wonders' yet they have many great songs to their name. the most recent discovery was Red Skies by The Fixx. (used in Breaking News during a flashback)
Red Skies is a great song. unfortunately it never got played until Cold Case. (wow, another reason i love this show, the use of never heard or heard very little 1980s music) apparently the CDs with many 1980s songs pick 'One thing leads to another' for this group and radio play also leaves their other great songs absent as well. Congrats Cold Case!
Also, another 'one hit' was from Cyndi Lauper (used 'True Colors' as an ending montage of one episode) where again, only 'Girls just wanna have fun' is her only song played here. sad isn't it?
What rare or just discovered songs from supposed 'one hit wonders' had you glued during this show?

There aren't too many of them that are played here, due to music rights. It's very expensive to get the music; so they pick the ones that are easiest to get. Some of the music is from whatever's popular on the billboards during that era or year.
I haven't found any one hit wonders that I didn't know about. Usually I know the music, or some of it during the newer cases are new bands.

I liked "Lips like Sugar" by Echo & the Bunnymen (yet another 80's song.) It was in Episode 5.05 "Thick as Thieves." I guess their big hit in contrast would have been "Killing Moon."

"Cumbersome" by SevenMaryThree was a one hit wonder from the 90s.
Also I would think it would be easier for them to obtain the one hit wonder songs, than it would be to obtain some other songs.
