Guess, it's placed best here.
Going through my movie and tv score collection at the moment (about time to get some order into it and make a list of what I have). Probably could make a big list of scores I like and scores I love, but trying to narrow it down for the sake of the thread.
My Top 5 list:
Battlestar Galactica - the new series (Bear McCreary) Xena (Joseph LoDuca) Black Hawk Down (Hans Zimmer) Lord of the Rings Triology (Howard Shore) Star Trek First Contact (Jerry Goldsmith)
Hm, I'm a serious about picking just 5? There is so much more of good stuff ... ;D
Anyway. What are your favorite movie and tv scores?

I don't have a big movie knowledge and don't recall much of the original scores... so these are actually the one that I cared about enough to get: Requiem for a dream Ghost in the shell Donnie Darko In the mood for love Avalon (the japanese movie) I also love: the scores by Ennio Morricone (no specific movies in mind), the soundtrack of the manga "Noir" and the OST of Battlestar Galactica.

Requiem For A Dream - nice pick, Zoé I have Lux Aetarna on my mp3 player, one of my fave pieces of music.
silversideup Cold Case hasn't made it on the top 5 list yet ;D Did you know, btw, that Michael A. Levine appeared as fiddle player in one of the Pirate movies and played fiddle on one of the soundtrack? Now you know.

My favorites, in no particular order: Pirates of the Caribbean (1-3) Harry Potter Battlestar Galactica ETA: I can't believe I forgot John Adams! Plus quality musicals that are made into quality movies, and of course, Disney movies have the most awesome music written for them.

The Gladiator (Hans Zimmer, Lisa Gerrard) You're right, that score is very good and matches perfectly with the movie. Very sad.

Yes, the score of Gladiator is a great one. Though I avoided to watch the movie for some time (I sometimes don't like blockbusters, lol) and only gave the score a try when I heard, that Lisa Gerrard was involved with it. Liked her work with Dead Can Dance already, she was involved with the score for Black Hawk Down btw too.
Forgot a very important score on my list (so, more than five): The Bone Collector by Craig Armstrong
(yes, the same guy who did Moulin Rouge and World Trade Center)
And at the moment start to fall in love with Babylon A.D. by Atli Orvarsson (executive music producer - guess who - Hans Zimmer)
