So, it was brought to my attention last night that my sister's new boyfriend was a "featured extra" on an episode of Cold Case (Resolutions from S1). Hilariously, he had no idea which episode he appeared in, but it took about thirty seconds for the people in the chatroom last night to figure it out based on his description.
He's the dude in the butcher shop that points to the back when Lilly & Scotty ask for John Something-Or-Other. Evidently, the director wasn't satisfied with this and gave the dude a line, "he's in the back." Those takes weren't used, but he still got paid for a speaking role, which was cool.
Late last night, I "met" the dude on a video chat, and whipped out the ep to show him. I don't think he'd actually ever seen it before. Of course, my concern was what my girl KM was like, and he had this to say: Apparently, there was all this noise in the background (some kind of clanking and stuff) that they were unable to get under control. As a result, they couldn't get a decent take of one of Kathryn's lines. Eventually, she just told them to move on, that she would sacrifice her day off to go in and loop it in the studio. He was very clear on the point that she said this very sincerely, not like exasperated/diva-ish or to be a martyr. She just wanted everyone else to be able to go home at a decent hour.
He also said Pino looked very skinny in person, and that the sides of beef or whatever were really made of styrafoam.
And that is my "6 degress of separation" to Cold Case.
The End.

That's cool. I can't really make any claims like that. It doesn't surprise me that Kathryn was like that. No-one has a bad word to say about her. She's great This the guy? I've listen through that whole scene, including the chat with John Butler, and can't spot an obvious re-dubbing of any lines. It all sounds like it belongs and was recorded in place. Maybe they just did a very good job of getting the sound to match. Lilly responded to the offer for a steak from John by telling him she is vegetarian. I think we know this isn't true, so Lilly was lying for some reason. Perhaps some attempt to deceive the guy into thinking that he wasn't a suspect or something.

Ha, yep - that's him.
I have no clue if they actually did have to loop a line in the end, but apparently it got to a point where so much time was being spent on getting this one line (which line, no clue - but evidently it was only one line, not an series of dialogue - so I guess that's why she felt like other people's time was being wasted on it) that she was ready to move on. They may have gotten something usable, after all, but the fact that she was willing to sacrifice her day off was cool. But I agree, not unexpected for her.
As for the vegetarian line, I think she was just being a smartass to shut his skeevy advances down with the quickness. I don't think it was an attempt at making him think he wasn't a suspect.

Not only has he had the privilege of working with Kathryn (albeit briefly) but now he's been capped by me. What an honour... for him ;D That was something of an attempt at humour, don't worry about it.

Working actors typically have friends who are working actors. For example I got to chat online with the actor who played the killer in "Wilkommen" and not only is he a friend of John Billingsley (AKA "George") but he even sent in an autographed pic of the two of them!
My point is, you should ask your sister's beau if he has any other friends who've done similar work.
