This is the site TVFan often posts a link to: www.bradboard.com/top1978.htmlOf course I'm hoping for Brand New Key but that's the wrong year. I presume Stayin' Alive is right out of the question How about Time For Me to Fly by REO Speedwagon for the closing song? It's definitely got the message and it sounds like an end song.

Ooh, REO Speedwagon. That was a good band right there.
What about "Lights" by Journey or "If I Can't Have You" by Yvonne Elliman? Those are also pretty good.
There's "Dust in the Wind" by Kansas, too, but that would be too cliched of an ending song, methinks.
Other songs:
"Wheel In The Sky" - Journey "Hotblooded" - Foreigner "More Than A Woman" - Tavares "Rock Lobster" - The B-52s "Who Are You?" - The Who "Only the Good Die Young", "Just The Way You Are" - Billy Joel "Just What I Needed" - The Cars "Come Together" - Aerosmith "Hotel California" - The Eagles
...any other guesses?

I'm thinking they may pull in some songs from before 1978, maybe '76 or '77 if there's any kind of disco theme running through it.
"Keep It Comin' Love" - KC & The Sunshine Band "Dancing Queen" - ABBA "Don't Leave Me This Way" - Thelma Houston "Stayin' Alive" - Bee Gees
As for pop/rock songs they might use......I'm thinking maybe songs from Fleetwood Mac, Van Halen, and Led Zeppelin.

My guesses: Time For Me To Fly - Reo Speedwagon Just What I Needed - The Cars Still The Same - Bob Seger Baby Hold On - Eddy Money I Wanna Be Sedated - Ramones Werewolves of London - Warren Zevon I'm going out on a limb here and making the closing song actual guess:Follow You Follow Me by Genesis will be the closing song. Unless they already did this....can't remember.

Then I need to make another selection. Still the Same by Bob Seger or Don't Look Back by Boston.

Just to let you guys know I added three more links to the original post. I'll make my guesses later, but I have a strong feeling they're going to use a lot of disco music in this one.

You may be right. It's so hard to decide which way to go on some of these selections. I decided not to go disco. I was thinking maybe they wouldn't but it's been awhile since they had a disco theme, right?

Sheesh! I wanted to be one of the first posters here, but now I'm one of the last! 1978 was such an interesting year for music. The disco craze was in full swing, yet some people were ready for a new musical direction, so a whole bunch of music in many other genres were also being played. I was in middle school then, and I remember how excited we were with all the good songs coming out at that time! This episode looks very disco-heavy, and I will say that anything by Chic, Heatwave, the Bee Gees, Earth Wind & Fire, or Rose Royce would be AWESOME!! I LOVE Disco music!!! I can't believe I found a video for this '78 song: I kinda doubt they'll play Gerry Rafferty's "Baker Street", but I'm still hoping for it along with ByrdMan! LOVE THAT SAXOPHONE!!! I'm willing to bet the victim on this episode is going to have a boyfriend, so I'll add the following two songs by Rose Royce to my list. "Wishing on a Star", released in 1977, I think, but hit the charts in '78: and "Love Don't Live Here Anymore": Incredible songs!!! And for the same reason, Carly Simon's "You Belong To Me": And Player's "Baby Come Back": Samantha Sang - "Emotions": (I'm betting heavily on ballads.... ) Finally, (for now), Donna Summer's "Last Dance" would be great:

Well, that was cool. So the standing are currently this:
Naj: 1 1/2 coldfan74: 1 teledetective: 1 Eurache: 1 boxman: 1/2
Heh, never though I'd get one right, expecially since 1978 was a good year in music. That was cool, though.
And before I forget...
"September" - Earth, Wind and Fire "Hot Child In The City" - Nick Gilder "The Loco-Motion" - Grand Funk Railroad "If I Can't Have You" - Yvonne Elliman "Two Tickets To Paradise" - Eddie Money "Sentimental Lady" - Bob Welch
There's a missing song I didn't list here -- it's the song that played when Hugh drove the DJ away from Missy in the roller rink. I suspect it was an original composition or something, but please post in this thread if you know what it is!
