The Cold Case Score CD, entitled The Best of Seasons 1 - 4, has been mastered and the artwork is being proofed this week. It includes most of the favorites gathered in the poll we took in May including Baby Blues, 300 Flowers (from Beautiful Fool), Carl's Recollection (from Useless Cats/Our Boy is Back), and others. It should be available for sale mid September from Lakeshore records.
Meredith Stiehm wrote the liner notes and there's a shout out to everyone on Look Again on the cover art.
Happy Listening!
Michael A. Levine, Cold Case composer

Hi Michael, Thanks for the update on the Score CD. I've been wondering about it lately. I'm really excited about this because I'm more of a score fan. I'll definitely be making a purchase. That's neat! Thanks Meredith! www.lakeshore-records.com/They also have a MySpace page too. See above link.

I wonder if that haunting piano score that you sometimes hear right before the intro is in it (you can hear it in "Blank Generation", "Maternal Instincts", "Rampage", and I think "Strange Fruit").
Plus that other haunting piano score that you hear at the start of "Family", or throughout "Revenge".

Meredith Stiehm wrote the liner notes and there's a shout out to everyone on Look Again on the cover art. So now we can claim to be "Look Again, available in all good record stores" and "as featured on the soundtrack album..."

I can't wait. I'm a big fan of TV and music scores, so this will definitely be added to my collection. Glad Look Again got a shout out too, it's a deserving board!

Thank you so much for the update on the score CD, Michael. I'm excited to pick up a copy in a couple of weeks. Love the fact that we even scored a shout out! Congrats on having the project come to fruition.

As usual, you guys knew about the change in the release date before I did. The album title is now Cold Case Original Television Soundtrack. As for the haunting piano, that's one of a group of pieces that Jonathan Littman dubbed "ramps" which lead us from nothing into the main theme. There are probably twenty or thirty variations - sometimes we use an old one, sometimes I make a new one. But because they're not really meant to be stand-alone pieces, I'm afraid none are on the CD. Mostly, we used pieces that were complete as is. Which episode any given cut comes from is not marked on the CD. At first I thought that was too bad, but then I realized it might be fun for people to see if they can figure out what comes from what. In some cases, it's obvious, like a cut titled Baby Blues is likely to be from an episode titled ? But others are sneakier. For example, we included a couple of pieces I wrote as prototypes for the show that I cannibalized in various ways but never used in this form. So, you'll recognize the material, but not the context. The CD looks great - some nice shots of the cast you haven't seen before (at least I hadn't). Liz W. Garcia - who wrote the words for 300 Flowers - is getting her first album credit ever and is excited because we remembered her "W". BTW, the record company is manufacturing such a small number of physical CDs, it is embarrassing. Not a lot of faith in our fanbase there! Please make them run out on the first pressing!!! cheers, Michael A. Levine Cold Case composer

Oh well. There were some other nice ones I can hope for.
-There was a chilling score from "The War at Home" when Dana finally tells her husband what happed in Iraq (it was later reused for the final flashback in "Stand Up and Holler")
-There was the other haunting piano music I mentioned. It's definately not a "ramp". You hear it when Jimmy's unsolved case box is put away at the start of "Family" and was used earlier throughout "Revenge".
-The violin/viola score for Maurice's dance audition in "Shuffle, Ball Change". I'm not sure but I think it was reused for the end montage/narration in "Family 8108".
-I liked the score used in the final flashback in "Bad Repuation".
I guess I'll just be surprised. I'll let you know what I think.
Always nice when someone who works on the actual show pays us a visit. Don't be a stranger!

Meredith Stiehm wrote the liner notes and there's a shout out to everyone on Look Again on the cover art. It occurs to me that this might also be a nice way for the site to get some attention from CC fans who might not be aware of it's existance, so this could be good for us too.

Could someone possibly post the shout out to Look Again on here when they get the CD? Imagine how many new members we'll get after the CD comes out! Anyhoo, the only compelling reason that I want to buy the CD is for the shout out, but I could just read that from you guth. Right?
