Someone seems to have misplaced the original thread. I did a search and found the old posts, but there's no more thread connecting them all. Bummer. Anyway, just wanted to let you guys know that Silas Weir Mitchell (James Hogan) was on NBC's My Name is Earl last night. He was fabulous (as usual) and it was fun to see him play comedy for once. Apparently, this was his second appearance on the show. I hope they keep him around because he added a lot. There was a hilarious scene with him at a super store (ala Wal Mart) monopolizing the TV section. Great stuff! Here's a picture from NBC's web page. Silas is the second from the left:

He was also Eli, the goon that sexually assaulted Teri Bauer in the first season of "24"
Plus, he played Haywire, Michael's crazy cellmate on "Prison Break" (and I hear he'll be making a return appearance soon!)

Oh my gosh... He was the one who played Eli in "24"?! How did it happen that I didn't recognize him, huh? Oh...

I was getting ready to tape 24 this week. Prison Break was still on while I was trying to fix the VCR. Anyway, there is a scene with a girl in a garage with her bicycle. Now my face is up close to the TV while I'm putting the tape in for 24 when Silas Weir Mitchell shows up unexpectly in the garage. Now I'm right by the TV and he looks sort of strange at this point. Kind of made me jump back. He ended up stealing the bicycle and not hurting the girl. Guess he made it out of the prison. I also saw the guy who played George at the end of the episode.

I wonder where the orignal thread is R2K. So he might stay on that sitcom. He'll always be James Hogan to me. ;D

I'm sure he'll be back on Cold Case. You don't get rid of a character like that. Plus, he's still on Prison Break.

Season 1 of "Prison Break" comes out on DVD August 8th.
I suggest that those who haven't seen the show all the way through check it out to get the full experience of both Silas Wier Mitchell and John Billingsley.
Though I should warn you, Silas appears in the about the 3rd and 4th episodes, then disappears until the last 5 or 6 episodes, while John doesn't appear at all until about that late in the series as well. It's still worth watching though (the character of T-Bag is one you'll soon love to hate).
We'll see. Cold Case is shot in LA while Prison Break was shot in Illinois last year and is moving to Texas this season. If he's a regular or recurring player on PB, it's be a bit of a trip to do another CC episode (for the same reason, I fear John Billingsley may not return to PB for the same reason).

Well for those interested in "Prison Break", you might like to know that Silas actually gives a commentary for one of the episodes (it's the fourth one, entitled "Cute Poison"). There's a bunch of neat info you can learn from commentaries. For instance, Silas originally auditioned for the role of T-Bag!

That is interesting! Thanks for letting us know toddsmitts. I'm not sure whether I could see Silas as T-Bag, but you never know.

I was delighted to see Silas was finally back as Haywire this week on "Prison Break".
It was funny watching him break into a burger joint to eat, then hiding out in that old blind woman's house posing as her son.
I'm glad he didn't hurt her when she realized he wasn't her son. Unlike, say T-Bag, I don't think Haywire is a truly evil character, though he's definately not right in the head. He did steal a painting from her house of the countryside in Holland. Why he did this, only he knows (maybe it has something to do with DB Cooper's money?)
He'll be back on next week and hopefully we'll get an answer or at least a clue.

Haywire, as his nickname implies, is a mentally unstable inmate from the prison's psych ward who ended up being one of the eight who escaped last season. There have been some amusing moments (like stealing a little girl's bike to escape) but there have been a few moments where he did appear a bit dangerous (he was in prison for killing his parents, after all).
If you can buy or rent the first season on DVD, I urge you to do so, not just for Silas but because it's a great show (plus, as I mentioned above, Silas does an audio commentary for one episode.)

I finally got to see this past week. There was another funny Haywire scene where he's on the beach telling a dog he's going to build a raft and sail to Holland. Yeah, you read that right!

You really think they'll write something more for him? I'd like to know what Lilly was writing to him in prison. I'm sure he'll be back on Cold Case. You don't get rid of a character like that. Plus, he's still on Prison Break.
