CBS sent out a CC tape to prospective Emmy voters. It comes in a nice box, and contains "A Time to Hate" and "Fly Away" -- both made my short list (and others) of the best episodes in season one. It's cool to view them without ads, and may help us over the lack of DVDs yet (sob!). If anyone's interested, Ebay has a couple of sealed copies up for auction at the moment, dumped by voters without being opened. I'm of course in no way connected to the sellers. Just thought I'd mention it.

Here I thought you belong to this prestigious group that gets to vote! You had me going there for a minute. Did you bid on a set? What are they going for?

Hi, Naj. An Emmy voter gave me his unopened. (I have a few industry contacts.) Last night the two sealed copies on Ebay were still there, at around ten bucks each. If you want to view them, enter "Cold Case" for the entire Ebay site, which will leave you scrolling through about 220 items (50 per page). They didn't appear to show up on "Television Memorabilia" alone.

Although I'm not interested in the copies I'll go take a look over at ebay. ~Naj

I've heard that around 10,000 are eligible to vote for the Emmys. Maybe 10-15 % actually do. TV viewing has a fixed cost or is free, so the Emmys carry little economic clout. It's hard for a new show to get recognized, obviously -- the same ol' names get numbinated year after year.

The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences website is: www.emmys.org/Click on "Membership" and you'll get the qualifications (and application forms) for the various peer groups. I see from a more recent source that there are 12,000 members at present.
