There doesn't appear to be a thread in here about Kathryn's appearances in Xena: Warrior Princess. So I'm starting one. I've said this elsewhere but I'll repeat it here. I'd seen quite a few episodes of Xena but some how not the Najara ones. When I first realised Kathryn was in the show (after seeing Cold Case) I assumed she would be playing a minor role as Gabrielle's sister. The two do look quite alike. For the benefit of those less familiar with the show: Kathryn stars in 2 episodes of Xena as Najara, a woman on a mission to defeat evil. Najara is guided in her quest by "The Jinn", some sort of spirit overseers. The first episode (season 4, episode 8, Crusader) sees Xena and Gabrielle meeting Najara for the first time. They team up to defeat some slave traders. Gabrielle is taken with Najara's wish to open a hospice, and questions her being with Xena. Najara's extreme methods and possibly taking Gabby away from her, causes conflicts with Xena. The 2nd episode (season 4, episode 18, The Convert) finds Najara apparently reformed, forsaking violence. But is she really willing to give up Gabrielle? It is lots of fun seeing Kathryn playing such an aggressive character. In Crusader in particular, Kathryn gets a lot of screen time and takes on horse riding and fight scenes. She looks great in the costume too  Plus I like Renee O'Connor so getting her and KM in scenes together is always going to go down well with me  To get this thread off to a flying start I've added 5 clips from each episode to my podcast. I've tried to pick a selection of scenes from each show which give an idea of the plot. |

Ah, you are THE best, RichE! KM Xena goodness on the podcast! THANK YOU for these lovely addition.   As I confessed over the "other" thread , I have really rediscovered my appreciation for KM as Najara. I totally agree that the physical-ness of this role as well as the sort of kick-arse / take no prisoners attitude KM displays with such a twisted sweetness is still as entertaining to watch today as it was back when I was a Xena fan. In those days, I wasn't as familiar with KM, but I remember clearly that I liked Najara given she was one of only two other female warriors (the others being Calisto and Alti) to give Xena a run for her money. And she was so convincing in her twisted zealtory - you really never knew if she was to be believed or not. Its a testament to KM that she wowed me when I DIDN'T really know her, and that it has held up over time. Question: Now, it could JUST be me (and I have been sick A LOT, so could be loopy - LOL!), but I think a couple of the clips are swapped out. "The Crusader" Part 5 clip is actually the end of "The Convert." And "The Convert" Part 4 & 5 clips are the same ... of course, knowing you, this was probably on purpose JUST to test our Xena/KM knowledge. |

Apologies to all, I appear to have made some typo errors in the podcast file. The joys of cutting and pasting duplicating the error in several places. I guess I shouldn't do these things when I have a cold.
I need to spend a little time fixing this so it is probably best if I remove these items for now and start again. If you have downloaded the clips please delete them from iTunes.

I was perusing YouTube for more ... well, KM/Xena goodness, and I came across two really excellent videos: KM/Najara - AngelsKM/Najara - Ice QueenThe selection of songs ("Angels" and "Ice Queen" by Within Temptation) are just GENIUS. They fit so perfectly to the essence of the Najara character, and the editing/selection of the clips featured is really well done. Both authors of these videos really "got" what Najara was about, IMHO. Anyways, just thought I'd post in case anyone was interested. |

You wouldn't happen, by chance, to be able to have some time to do an updated set of screencaps of the KM goodness from her two Xena episodes? I've been scouring around, and there isn't a whole lot to choose from. There are some in this thread, but I was wondering if you might be able to do a more thorough set and/or higher quality? If not, no worries. You seem to be on a roll with KM screencaps of late, so thought I'd throw this in to the mix! |

Oh, her  As much as I would like to, and you know I would , I'm not sure I can really help here. The ones ruda and Naj posted on that thread are bigger and better than I can manage with what I have. My shots would be the same size as the clips I posted. Like this:  I could do a more comprehensive set if you want though. |

I've decided to re-visit The Mind Of A Married Man for clip making purposes, redoing them in a better format hopefully. I may be gone sometime |

Thanks for the Najara videos, LillyKat. It's been awhile since I searched for them.. Yep it looks like two dedicated xenites made those so they would definitely get the story right. She's with you? Could you ask her to send more than just that? Let me see what I can do. Ooooh, very nice idea, RichE.  I've not yet seen The Mind of a Married Man; it's one my list. Definitely focus on that as Naj was kind enough to forward me a link to some additional screencaps, which will tie me over for a bit (thanks, Naj!  ) Do let us know you've survived MoMM, though. Wouldn't want to have to send you to hospital again. |
