Review from IMDB: This was an excellent film, depicting the trials of a family of share croppers in early American development. I especially enjoyed the performances of Mark Harmon and new-comer Ronnie Dee Blair who played the roll of Elijah Parsons. This is Kathryn's first film. Has anyone seen it?

I've got this one on VHS. Kathryn plays Mark Harmon's daughter-in-law (she's married to his son.) The movie has a very Grapes of Wrath feel to it, but in a less-desperate way... almost like a TV-Movie where you know everything's going to work out in the end She doesn't have alot of lines in this one, but she's in a good number of scenes, standing in the background while Mark Harmon does his thing. What's really weird is that over ten years later, she's in a movie with Mark again... playing his lover. *************************SPOILER She has a sad subplot where her baby dies from malnutrition. ******************************** I don't know if her hair in this one is of the 30's period... It kinda reminds me of the "Louise Brooks" cut that we saw the CC ep "Beautiful Little Fool."

Thanks for the info and the caps from this one irish. I love the fact that she went on to play Anne Marie Fahey to Mark Harmon's Thomas Capano in "And Never Let Her Go." Interestingly enough, their paths seem to cross often. They're both staring in successful CBS shows and they presented together at the SAG Awards a few years back. Check it out: Kathryn and Mark at 2004 SAG Awards

I ordered this movie and was so excited when it came in the mail yesterday. And THEN--they sent the wrong one. I've got something called The long WAY home. Appears to be quite critically acclaimed but--no Kathryn. So I'll return it and begin the wait once more.
How many movies do I have to purchase before I am considered a fanatic? I fear I'm getting close to that number. :-)

I watched this last night. It was a rather good movie. Grapes Of Wrath is one of my favorite books, so I knew the plot of the movie would be enjoyable.
Kathryn (this was way back when she was still Kathy) was good, but the script didn't give her much opportunity to show her talent. As Irishkale said, she was mostly in the background.
Here is what struck me most about this. The movie was released in 1991, which would make Kathryn 22. She was already 21 when she went to CA, so she must have gotten cast in this right away. Which is pretty impressive. To me anyway. I mean, who shows up in CA to act and gets a movie part within a year? Such a shame it took all of us, and the Hollywood moguls, over ten years to really see what this lady has to offer.

I completely agree michelle. It's taken her al long time to get where she is now and I think that still she is very under-rated.
