Ugh, this is HARD! So many good ones...

My nomination for best closing montage would be the 'Moon River' closing from the episode 'Debut' about the daughter of an astronaut, who was killed on the night of her debute. It was clearly designed with the Apollo program in mind and was a part of the leit motif of the show. The girl was, in the last analysis, scientific in her orientation, yet struggling to live out her mothers dreams of social advancement as well. Like Brenda Fraser, the top Deb of 1938, her mother had hopes of joining the social elite, as her husband had joined the aeronautical elite. It seems ironic that all of the Apollo astronauts came from the test pilot schools at Edwards and Pax River, and as such, had a 1 in 4 chance of getting killed, everytime they test flew a newly designed aircraft, and yet it's the daughter who died. But, the grace, class and undisputed talent of Lilly Rush solved the case and the ending music was very appropriate. Kathryn Morris' parents must be so proud.
