This episode was inspired by two real life Serial killer partners.
They were called " The lonely Heart Killers" that killed during the 1940's ... Their names were: Raymond Ferandaz and Martha Beck.
Some facts:
Martha did act as Raymond's sister when he married the women ,like in the episode.
She was also overweight and lonely like in episode
After finding each other, Raymond search for other lonely women and seduced them with flowers before having them clear out their banks accounts, before marrying and killing them
Unlike in the episode, Raymond went by an alias not Martha They were also stealing from people at the same time
Unlike in the episode the two were arrested for fraud and murder. The two were both excuted in the electric chair at Sing-Sing Prision in New York in 1951

The real killers were excuted in Sing Sing Prison in NYC, the two both were murders. In this show, just Ramon was, not Martha.
Amazing that in the show Martha's last name was Puck, in real life Martha's real last name was Beck.

The 1969 movie The Honeymoon Killers starring Tony Lo Bianco and Shirley Stoler did a great job of telling this story. Check it out if you haven't already.
