The pilot episode for Cold Case was based on the Martha Moxley case from 1975. It was a famous murder case because it involved the Kennedy family. I don't really know anything about the Martha Moxley case (kinda sad really, cuz I remember thinking while watching Look Again first time around that "the case was kinda farfetched"--just goes to show how often real life can be even stranger and more terrible than fiction), but I've just finished watching a local case in my country uncannily similar to it. 1985, an upper-class girl was beaten to death with a blunt object (rock, probably) by (supposedly) her rich business man boyfriend. Hasn't been solved to this day.

What I don't understand is why there has never been any DNA evidence revealed about this case. Surely there must be something on the golf club.

Not so much a cover-up as it was the fact this was a Kennedy family member. The kid was untouchable for a long time.

I remember watching the pilot and thinking how much it resembles the Moxley case. Did anybody happen to watch the Martha Moxley movie? So sad.

A&E had documentary on the case today in the afternoon sometime. I caught a few minutes of it. The info dated the documentary being made in 1999 so it must not have been solved at that point. I believe the killer was brought to justice in 2002.
