Greetings and welcome to the new subboard in Episodes. As you all know, there is a disclaimer at the beginning of each episode that says, "The following story is fictional and does depict any actual person or event." But we all know better, don't we? The entire Cold Case series is based on the true story of a Cold Case that was recently solved after 27 years. This board will run very much like the Episode board. I will begin by listing the episodes I know right away that are based on real cases. At the post of each thread, there will a brief summary of the real life case. In addition, there will be links to site documenting the murders. Once an episode is up, feel free to post a reply and discuss. Now, I can't do it all, nor do I want to. So if you know of any episodes that are based on real cases, send me a personal message and I will set up the episode. You will only be allowed to reply to a thread. Do not start an episode thread. I will take care of that. I would like to keep a similar format for each episode. You will receive credit for your findings. I want this to be chance for fans to have a reference between Cold Case episodes and the true stories they were based on. I will have a few episodes up tonight.

This is such a cool idea! How do you go about researching the stories?

Well, TV Tome sort of got me started last year with a few links. Now I'm interesting in learning what other Cold Case episodes may be true.

This is giving me more incentive to review the episodes (especially season 1 even though I already like season 1 the best) and see how this does tie into real life cases. ~Naj

Hi, Anne. Welcome to the board! I wasn't aware that the episode was based on this case. Thanks!

Yep, it sure is. In fact almost everything in Thrill Kill is a parallel to the WM3 case. The twp glaring differences being that the real case had 3 people who were found guilty, while the show had 2. The other difference is that the show opted for Nirvana, instead of Metallica.

I just don't get how on the show, they succeed in portraying so many details of some case that happened a lot of years ago. I mean I find hard to believe people have such a good memory. I can barely remember what I ate 3 days ago. Anyway, I love the show. The Cold case dvds feature fictional cases that have been unsolved for years. The stories are touching, even though we know these situations are not real. Somehow it seeps under your skin because you know thousands of people in the real world live with the things that go on in the episodes.
